By the way. I totally just read some of your fanfic (assuming the same Buggirl, of course) and it made me I've noticed that most of the best fanfic on fanfiction.net does tend to originate with Clan Vakarian members.

AWWW shucks (yeah thats me same BG70 on ff.net) - thanks!!!

As for rifles - when I played vanguard I chose the sniper for my extra weapon when you hit the big revelation part of the game. I'm not sure if you could do it playing sentinal or adept though as I've never played those classes.

Only soldiers get the widow, right? (or infiltrators also) I as adept or sentinel have never gotten it so far) :crying:

Infiltrators get it too. Quite obviously, since, y'know, they're snipers Posted Image

I thought any class could get the Widow at first, but the Wiki says it's only Soldier and Infiltrator (the only classes I've actually played so far). So the Wiki is wrong about that?

That seems to be a guy thing. I don't know. I've never found playing dudeshep and say romancing Tali to be weird. Are there any women out there weirded out by playing dudeshep and romancing his LIs?

i tried once but gave up because I really sucked at creating a good looking male shep. i will try that again some time in the future. i really don't mind the gender. doesn't really bother me. love playing femshep though....kicking everyone's ass in the galaxy being a chick is so much more awesome then if a guy does it lol....sorry

as for sniper rifles: i love the incisor as well. i usually pick sniper training at the collector ship. it's just cool to take out the scions with a few well placed shots from afar.

I agree. I enjoy playing femshep more but I still like playing dudeshep just to see what is different. Plus Tali is just too adorable. I also agree that I can't create decent looking dudeshep to save my life. I wish I could take the iconic Shepard and just tweak him a little (different colored eyes, give him hair) but as far as I know you can't do that. I finally just gave up and stuck a helmet on the guy. Figured Tali wouldn't mind...

Actually, some games are more satisfying to me playing as a dude.  Baldur's Gate 2 for instance.  I'm about 50/50 on Kotor because I really like Bastila.

You're right - I only got access to an ordinary sniper rifle - not the Widow, I only got that when I played as Infiltrator.  Been a while since I played Vanguard.

I've only played my Manshep through once and never weirded out - my female sensibilities did come into play though at times as he was renegade and did nasty things with the girls (had to build the renegade points up!) My heart was bleeding when he dumped Tali, thats why I named him Vince the Bastard.

I think it is a guy thing. If they're straight, they tend to get a lot more edgy more quickly at the potential implication of homosexuality. Not saying that it's a 100% guaranteed reaction, but it's one that I've encountered a lot. By contrast, women tend to be a lot less bothered. One of my exes would've pulled the "70% of women are potentially bi from the waist up" statistic at this point, but since I have no idea what his sources were (and with the added suspicion that the statistic came from a man), I also have no idea whether this is the real reason.

As for creating a good-looking MaleShep, I would also have liked the possibility to tweak the default Sheploo. I was actually surprised that you couldn't do that, since you can tweak the default FemShep just fine. I guess they thought that messing with the image of an actual person could potentially cause problems and Vanderloo might protest or something.

So I had to settle for Sheploo in the end.

Well for me it's just that 99% of video game main characters outside of roleplaying games are dudes so if you are a woman who is weirded out by playing a dude, your list of potential games dries up pretty fast. When I first started roleplaying games I actually thought playing as a woman was weird because I had grown so accustomed to playing as guys.

That is guddam special, right there. The fact he's alone makes it kind of sad. No art of Femshep nursing his wounds? :innocent:

Hey now, I have to actually start a Garrus romance to be completely sure. I could be nervous for no reason :P

actually you can....you just start the game with Sheploo until you get the first save, then you can open this save in gibbed save editor and get the facecode. then you start a new game, create a custom shep and paste the facecode in there plus make all the changes you want

Sorry I have no pics of nursing of wounds.  Will a fringe massage suffice?

Yeah, there's definitely that too. Heck, back in the day, I thought FFVI was nothing short of revolutionary for having a female main character. Female mains are still a lot less common than males nowadays (especially in JRPGs...FF only has 3 female mains over 13 games so far), but at least it's getting better.

gibbed face editor?  Is that a PC thing?  Because I only have the Xbox version of the game.

yes it's a pc-thing but I take it you can type in the facecode manually in the xbox game, yes? if so, i may try to get the sheploo facecode for you tonight when I get back home. Maybe I even have a default sheploo save somewhere and may check it if there's a facecode.

This. I couldn't make a decent custom male or female. It's grown on me.

GAH! Do you do this for your own enjoyment? I'm a terrible renegade, even in minor crew dialogue.

Definitely :o ya know I'm kinda surprised, I've seen Zaeed art of femshep nursing his wounds, and out of all the epic Garrus art no scar cleaning? It's bloody iconic, even Chakwas can't cure it! B)

I think I looked for a sheploo (that means iconic Shep I take it) facecode and didn't find one. Granted my search was very quick so I could have overlooked it. I'm sure it's online somewhere. I'm just lazy about looking that kind of thing up.

funny though, the medbay upgrade heals Shepard's face scars and stuff, yet doesn't heal Zaeed's or Garrus' scars.

Hah, my dudeshep is totally a sucker for damsels in distress so he's about as renegade in the romance department as a fuzzy bunny. He also values loyalty above all things so he does have weird renegade spurts. He'll do anything for squaddies so he's really nice to Tali but at the same time he leaves all those refinery workers to die so Zaeed can have his revenge. He's a weird guy.

I remember looking for that one myself but people always said there is no facecode since Sheploo wasn't created through the character creator thing. Yet, I refuse to believe until I see it's true because gibbed save editor showed me all kinds of things that I thought did not exist lol. So I will check it out and post it here. Will need it later for myself anyway. Going from Sheploo's face is always easier than creating a completely new one....

Well, Zaeed probably wants to keep his, because it's more badass, the "my-scars-are-my-goddamn-bio" kind of thing. As for Garrus, it could be that the medbay machine is somehow incompatible with turian/dextro physiology.

@goat, I had to play through as renegade - I forced myself to be bad - it was hard though, I had to replay parts because I though no, no way am I gonna be a ****** about that......

You know what really pissed me off though about the renegade playthrough - it was easy to get all the loyalties and easy to get through the SM. I didn't have that same experience with my pure paragon (and even my paragade had few issues)! Bah what does that tell you?

Man, Zaeed would surrender his scars about like he'd surrender Jesse. And I can see how the dermal unit wouldn't work on Garrus. I'm assuming it's specifically designed to repair human dermal tissue. Turians are way different in the physiology department. You'd probably need a different upgrade at 50,000 platinum for Garrus (which I'd totally get for the guy if he wanted it but he'd be too much of a trooper to ask.)

@Nilfalasiel

my current renegade shep is weird too. she let Miranda kill Niket and Jack kill Aresh, yet stopped Garrus from killing Sidonis. My Shep has no bond with Miranda and Jack whatsoever. She thinks, Niket and the form of his betrayal deserve death so she lets Miranda shoot him. She also thinks that Aresh is crazy enough to start something like Pragia again so she lets Jack kill him. Yet, after hearing why Sidonis betrayed Garrus and see that he feels true remorse makes her step in and stop Garrus from killing him. She would be the first to kill traitors, yet Garrus means a helluva lot to her and she doesn't want him to become like her. She's a sucker for people she REALLY cares about. She also tells Jack to finally suck it up and to get over herself. I LOVE that conversation lol.
