well, if we get the DLC, I think, there could be a chance of importing the save later in ME3 and move on from there. So those, who have talked with Liara in the DLC relationship-wise won't get certain dialogues in ME3 and those who haven't get them. It would be an option, at least. But I don't know if Bioware really goes that far out of their way.

I'm conflicted on the DLC front. On the one hand, I understand that putting extra romance content in DLC is unfair to those who can't/won't download it. On the other hand, I know that realistically Bioware can only put so much content in ME3 and they have a bajillion romance threads screaming for extensive content that they cannot realistically give us. Not all of us anyway. So to me putting some of that in DLC, the "take whoever on a date" scenario or whatever is kind of fair. That gives people really invested in the romance an outlet while freeing up disc space on ME3 for bigger more important things that will reach a larger audience. Does that make sense? I sympathize with those who can't get DLC but really I think they are a rather rare breed and many of those "won't" people might change their mind if they got content with their favorite LI.

Say, if you remain loyal to ME1 squaddie and don't get DLC, ME3 assumes loyalty. If you cheat on squaddie in ME2 and don't get DLC, ME3 assumes you broke up. That could really simplify a lot of things.
And if you want to make an explicit choice, then download the DLC.
In all those scenarios, the character coming into ME3 would come in with a simple "yay" or "nay" for a particular romance. That eliminates a lot of variables that would otherwise have to be addressed.

if Liara finds out that Shepard is with someone else, it would be odd for liara & shepard not to talk about their relationship - and Shep not being able to end it with her.
That said, it doesnt pertain to me so I don't really worry that much.

I have no loyal playthroughs for ME1 romances. They bored me that much. All my Sheps were either cheaters (mainshep Paragade femshep, renegon dudeshep) or they came into ME2 single (paragon femshep, some other random Sheps.)
Liara does concern me a little as I my dudeshep was with her before he switched to Tali in ME2. Beyond that I just think seeing what they do with her could tell us a lot about what they might do with other LIs.

Well, if they let you break up with her for instance than that could be a hint that more DLC with a similar scenario involving Ash/Kaidan might be coming. And the fewer variables we have going into ME3 the more likely it is that any given LI might be a squaddie in that game(or so I think.) Cleaning up romance stuff in DLC could be indicative of what they are planning for ME3. If they resolve nothing with Liara in this DLC, I will be confused...and concerned. That could mean they are saving things for epic ME3 confrontation. Or it could mean they are just shoving romance content in general onto a back burner.

Also Andy Shepard so Dropped Ashley after her speech on horizon. Fell right into Tali's arms he did. Since she never hated on him and actually believed his story about Cerberus resurrection. 
Andrew Shepard, my Biotic shep hasn't actually gotten that far yet to meet Liara(his LI from ME 1) For some reason Biotics aren't as fun as my Infiltrator so he gets neglected....

BioWare is really in a lose-lose situation here, aren't they?
I admit when I heard about the DLC, I was tempted to start a another character for Liara in ME1, then "cheat" with Garrus in ME2. But my pessimistic side thinks that'd just be a waste of time.
eta: I don't think any ME1 LI resolutions are going to occur in DLC. And I, for one, am perfectly okay with that since I think they'd do them more justice in ME3.

My defualt Shep from ME1 was a vanguard so she got imported and I played it all wrong in ME2 and hated it. Later I went back and tried again and did much better and actually enjoyed it. I stopped playing that time more because she was a repeat paragon and I was tired of being redundant in the story. The fact that she was a vanguard wasn't the problem. She's my Thane Shep. I need to go back and finish it.

It just that Biotics are so how would you say it? geared to the lower level difficulties that if you play hardcore and insanity you spend most of your time just shooting away anyway. The enemies have such high defenses and such low health that once you break there defense layers to use biotics you might as well just shoot them a few more times and save time of the animation playing to shoot someone else.
Since I don't play on anything lower then Hardcore, spamming Warp is just no fun I guess. I actually never tried out Vanguard.

Vanguard is fun. Have you ever seen that video of a guy going toe to toe with a Colossus right up close? It's epic. I don't have a link though sadly. And shockwave is BRUTAL on husks.

I have seen that, and Shock waves isn't so brutal on husks on hardcore and up, they all have armor, so it's no Husk bowling anymore......
