Would putting romance content in DLC really ****** that many people off? Some no doubt. I'd like to see some actual statistics on who does and doesn't download DLC. I'm betting 90%+ of diehards do and by diehards I mean "anybody who bothers to import saves from one game to the next."

Well, there's the people who don't bother with DLC, then there are those who are unable to download it (no Xbox Live, etc.).  And, unless they included content for every LI, you'd have to add those who feel slighted that their LI wasn't represented.

All in all, a minority of fans.  But most likely a very vocal one.  Posted Image

With the scenario I am describing all the ME1 LIs would get addressed and the ME2 ones would have to be included by default.  I certainly wouldn't resent letting the ME1 LIs catch up.  I won't care if there is no Garrus specific DLC, especially if it means we all get our LIs back in ME3.

Yea, but it's just a little block in eastern Europe isn't it? (Not trying to be offensive.) And was that a "you've never ever gonna get it" or a "it'll be much later than other places." And there is still that scenario I described earlier about assumption of decision in ME3. If people were aware of that scenario going into ME3, they could still set the romances how they wanted, DLC or no DLC. Though it might mean they had to replay the games.

czech and hungry where mentioned and I think 1-2 more countries. They haven't got any of the DLC yet to date so I don't know.  Also who konws wha tthey will do in ME 3 they could jus thave "defaults" that they refer to. IE yo ustay loyal to your ME 1 LI you get X ending from DLC. You would have no Idea what happened to get x ending and no way to change it.

However IF they are goign to have Liara and ash/kaiden recruitable in ME 3 I would leave tha tLI resolution, to the beginnign of ME 3 when you recruit them personally.

Also who's hoping for them to have the VA's workign on ME 3 already on hand so the Liara DLC will have squad banter? ^_^

So I just booked a trip to Vegas for next month, which reminded me...  Did anyone else think that Garrus was totally hinting at Shep in ME1 when he said, "If you like gambling, we should check out Flux."  (paraphrasing)  I can't help but picture him as a total slot junkie.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.  Posted Image

Sorry, OT, but I love Vegas! Where you staying? and how long? Have you been there before?
I love slot machines too but they are no fun with paper and no coins *sad face*
Now I can't stop thinking about Fat Tuesday's and 1-Dollar-Margeritas at Bills Gambling Hall and Evening Call, OMG Frozen Jager Bombs are the ****!!!!!! *droooools*

A lot of folks seem to think maybe the dialog for this DLC might have gotten recorded while ME2 was still in development. Or they hope so at least.

Agreed.

And I would love it if they did resolve the ME1 LI situations in DLC, as long as it's not just a throwaway scene.  I just don't see it happening.  But I hope to be proven wrong.

Oh, I'm not holding out much hope that it WILL happen.  I just think it would make a lot of sense if it did happen this way.  One can always hope...

Right this is one way that "Liara DLC now, Kaidan/Ash DLC later" might be made to work out.

Vegas is my happy place.  This will be my 14th trip, so I have a free room at the Mirage for 3 nights, then I'll be staying at Planet Hollywood for the other 2.   Posted Image

Oooh!  Bill's $1 margaritas ftw!

Garrus would approve of this trip.

Well, it would annoy me. Same with making anything that's required or very important to the plot only available by download. I don't have Xbox Live, I don't download anything, and I think having 15+ Shepards planned out would count me as a big fan. I buy all the Mass Effect stuff that's available to me, meaning the stuff that's in stores. ME1, ME2, both novels and the comics.

I think stuff like that (romance-related) should really be in ME3. What about the Shepards who won't cheat on their romance from the first game, but don't want to continue with them after what happened in ME2? It shouldn't assume that "not cheating" means you still want them back.

I'm not trying to alienate anybody.  I'm just throwing ideas around.  Like I said, I don't think they will actually do this.  I won't lie and say I don't think it's a good idea though because I do think it's a good idea.  Ultimately, I just want my LIs of choice back in ME3 and I'm willing to do pretty much whatever it takes for that to occur.  I hope Bioware can pull all this off in ME3, but I have serious doubts.  All this is just speculation anyway.

Plus haven't folks from Bioware stated flat-out they wouldn't be opposed to a romance DLC?

Yeah, I don't really expect the romance stuff to happen in DLC anyway. (They might count not cheating as staying loyal though. I hope not. Shepard should have the chance to talk about it.) I'm mostly worried about some "canon" decision being made for all of my Shepards because I didn't buy the Liara/Shadow Broker DLC. If it really does come out as an expansion pack, I'm buying it on release date. :D Mass Effect expansion would be awesome.

Yea, I was just fixing to ask.  What if they later included all these DLCs that contain these choices I am discussing on some kind of expansion pack you could buy in stores?  That would cover pretty much everybody, maybe even those unfortunates in Eastern Europe.

I dunno, judging by the fact that there are people over on the DA2 boards asking for NO romance in DA2, some folks would roll their eyes pretty thoroughly if a romance pack ever got made. I can just see the "omg dating sim, u bunch of lonely losers!" accusations being thrown around. Yes, they already get thrown around anyway, and sometimes going onto the general forum threads feels like a cold shower, but having a romance DLC would just make it worse. I don't know how much that would concern BW though.

yes the Dr.'s said as much IIRC.

However I wouldn't like to see content referanced in ME 3 always if you don't have the DLC. I really didn't liek how they released ME 2 story "incomplete" and basiclly made you by the comics jus tto know "what happened". I'm all for getting bonus content if you do have the DLC but I don't like "canon" content in place based on "optional" content.

well, they could still go for the option of choosing again in ME3. I mean, if you haven't cheated in ME2 but don't want your LI back in ME3, I'm pretty sure, there will be dialogue options that go like "I'm still interested" and "I'm not interested anymore" and "I got someone else"

Well from what I read of that thread you are talking about it looked to me that about 3/4 of the people in there actually went in to say they specifically liked romances and didn't want them removed.  Most people who don't want romances are content to just ignore that option in the game.  The people that actively cry for their removal are a rather small minority and Bioware has been ignoring them for years.  I don't see that changing.

But how much do you think DLC will affect ME3? I never played BDtS because we don't have internet at my mom's house, but as far as I know this has been completely ignored in ME2. Now that I have ME2 on my laptop I buy all the story related DLC, but I don't expect much from this in ME3.

Yes, that's true, but the fact that this has been popping up on BW boards is why I picked up on it. If you go on non-BW-specific boards, like GameFAQs, for example, there will be a lot more of "too much romance" talk.

If they release some kind of expansion pack after ME3 that I could buy in the stores, that included all of the DLC for the whole series that I couldn't have before... I would say (or type) "BioWare is awesome!", buy the expansion on release date, and spend the rest of the day playing it. :D

If it's just the romance stuff... well, that's not a lot of content for a (probably expensive) expansion pack, but I'd still buy it anyway. On release date. xD

Well, I don't see how any DLC involving Liara as much as this one seems like it will could possibly have no effect on ME3.  If all we get in ME3 over this DLC is an email, I will quite surprised.
