I would love to have Garrus as a main squad member in ME3, assuming he survives the suicide mission. But I imagine BioWare will somehow introduce engaging new characters that fans will love as well. I really liked Garrus' dark change in ME2. It had depth, and really showed how tortured a soul could get before finally dramatically changing, personality-wise. I wonder if Garrus will snap in ME3, and perhaps there is a quest-changing decision wherein Shepard might need to kill Garrus, like Wrex in ME1.

I think Garrus is one few squadmate who probably won't betray Shepard for any reason. I could see it happening with some of the others, depending on Shepard's choices. My Cerberus supporters could very well have problems with Jack in the future, for example. Garrus seems like he would trust Shepard no matter what though.

I like the change in Garrus too. He was great in ME1, and now he's just awesome.

I saw that quote from gameinformer, Kim. It's nice to hear that from Bioware. So at the very least we'll see how the squad mate's stories end up.

Hey folks, how's it going? Don't forget to put Tali on that list of people that won't betray Shepard. :P I'm not really sure we'll see "all new" companions in ME 3 I thought the main reason we got so many more in ME 2 was to help pad out the roster for me 3.

Found it! Luckily, there weren't too many issues of Game Informer between ME2's release date and now.

From an interview with Casey Hudson in the April issue of Game Informer:

You will definitely be able to see characters from Mass Effect 2 in Mass Effect 3, as long as they're alive in the end of your story. It's a challenge for sure, but it's also going to be a huge payoff for players of the Mass Effect trilogy to see what happens with all these characters and storylines started by the first two games.

I don't think we have anything to worry about. :)

Anyway, once an atmosphere is tainted in your eyes, all the promises of cookies and bunnies to give it a second chance aren't going to be enough to draw some people in.

I keep trying to headbutt my way into various other threads, I must have a thick skull or I'm a glutton for punishment because I keep going back with a hopeful "can I play with you" look in my eyes.  I want to share my love of ME2 around.

Sharing the love just like this little guy.

I rest most of my faith in the idea that most players will have tried to get at least one "None Left Behind" run, if only for the achievement. I won't jump back into all of the arguments about why I still have hope for even the potentially dead characters to return as squadmates, but you know what? I can accept even an NPC Garrus if done well. Any character can remain on the ship and still provide story and interaction aplenty (in fact, my pet theory is that, b/c he can die so easily in the SM, Mordin will probably just be an auxiliary, on-ship NPC rather than a squaddie in ME3).

While I certainly wouldn't buy a "garrus the betrayer" storyline, I can see a situation where your Renagade/Paragon guiding of him can finally pay off. It was kind of grey in the first game; in ME2 your mentoring in either direction is much more concrete. Seeing Garrus make a decision true to what you taught him would be a gigantic payoff.

Oh, and there's the romantic resolution the fanbase demands, as well. :D

A theory about even the dead returning? Well, they did it with Shepard.

MainShep: TIM, you'll resurrect Saren for me, right? :D
TIM: Well, we do have a relationship based on favors. I brought you back, you gave me the base. Now if only you let me keep the Overlord project, I'd owe you one. But you wouldn't download it...
*20 minutes of MainShep rage later*
TIM: O_O ...How about I resurrect the squadmate who died on Virmire as a consolation prize?
MainShep: But I didn't like Ashley anyway.
Jacob: But Shepard, the priiize...
TIM: *facepalm* Okay, fine. I'll bring back Saren if you let me make a human Reaper.
MainShep: Done.

MainShep wishes this would happen. (Hey, I just realized... MainShep and the Illusive Man have similar names. xD Kim and TIM.)

I don't know, this is Casey Hudson we're talking about. Interviews with him tend to go like this.

You mean that developers are always going to talk up about their games? Of course they are. But I've liked every BioWare game I've played, so I have no reason to believe that ME3 won't be great too. :)

Andaius, can you direct me to that wee bit of fiction in the style of HP Lovecraft, I'm too lazy to go back the 50 pages or so in the thread to find it. Ta BG

The comic is probably a movie reference I don't understand, right? xD Still, with every panel I looked at, I kept thinking, "MaleShep would want that weapon. And that one. And that one."

@Buggirl: I think there's a link in Buddha's signature.

Garrus: Hey... uh, glad you could make it. Sorry that I couldn't meet you at... uh... The Normandy's galley's food is... almost as good. Well, the human food, probably.

Chloe: Think nothing of it. I understand a vigilante's life isn't all about schedules. So please introduce me.

Garrus: Ah, right! This is Raela. Raela, say hello to Dr. Michel.

Raela: Hello, Dr. Michel. You're a doctor who helps people!

Chloe: Aren't you just darling! I helped your maman once.

*Raela, suddenly shy, hugs her stuffed animal in her bubble.*

Chloe: I guess you'll be sitting with us tonight, Raela?

Garrus
: *looks apologetic.* Yeah, uh, something came up... slavers... Tali need to be involved.

Chloe:  So who is your little friend?

Raela
:  Muhmander Scrubby...

Chloe:  *winks at Garrus*  He's a very dashing turian.

Garrus:  I've been trying to get him a promotion.
