But on another note, what creature with claws doesn't have some digit that those claws are attached to? Saren or no Saren, I thick we can postulate they have fingers tipped with claws simply because I know of no creature with claws where that isn't the case.

But cats don't have fingers, per se.
That is:  they cannot use their digits in any kind of meaningful way.  All manipulation is done with the claws.

But they have digits.  They don't just have claws stuck to their...palms?  What do you call that in cats?

The concept art seems to treat the fingers as tipped.

Also, consider how turians can clearily flex their fingers. I don't think they could do that with nothing but solid claws.

You're right, about the cats and probably about the turians. I think what I was trying to get at was, I pictured turians as having a claw portion they could use, and also a finger portion they could also use. Like a woman with really long nails who could still use her fingertips to dab makeup on her face.

Hmm, how about when Garrus curls his fingers to brush femshep's arm in the romance sequence. To me that implies tactile contact. I doubt he would just brush her with his claws if he can't feel anything. Otherwise it seems he would just use his palms. Dang, that is WAY too analytical...even for me. That might be my cue to go do something productive...

I think this as well.  That's why I said I think they would use their claws for things like hooking their key ring or pushing a button or dabbing at something.   If they say wanted to touch someone's face, I think they'd use their fingers.

What is this thread for if not obsessive micro-analyzation of Garrus?:P

Intense silliness, drunken ramblings (usually from Yours Truly), discussion of cupcakes and other sweets, ridiculous sketches and skits, goofy altered photos, etc.  To name a few. :P

Explain that to my cat who keeps trying to open door knobs and only lacks the opposing digit.  The little guy os obsessed.

Hah, we had a cat that turned on faucets once. Only problem was he never turned them back off.

Depending on the door handle, the cat will get that door open. Or flush the toilet. Or escape cages, that was a good one.

The Cerberus News does call them talons, but I don't know if they just mean the claw part or the whole hand. I saw a reference there to a "talon salute." It sounds adorable.

I'd like to know why Saren looks so different. Judging by the cover of Revelation, only the geth arm and glowing lights were added by Sovereign. Everything else is the same. (And if he wasn't a biotic at the time either, that sort of messes up the vague reason I came up with. I'm just going to say he was a biotic until someone tells us he wasn't.)

I think Collider's the one who said he needed a cool design that set him apart because he is the main bad guy.  I buy that reason.  In-game wise, I just assumed he was some really rare sub-race of turian.  A turian Bushman or something.

Haha, that video is SO like a cat. Squall it's head off to let it in and then when you open the door it just stands there and looks at you for two minutes or looses interest and walks off. lol

And I think it was Lemonwizard who came up with the theory that the "side fringe" he has is the turian form of an evil mustache. xD

Yeah, I know the real reason was probably just to make him look cool. Mission accomplished. :) But I'd still like to see a biological reason.

I agree with that last because it doesn't make sense that a turian would touch someone with a claw or talon if they wanted to feel their skin. I realize that all of the fanfic I''ve read has made me think of them as having talons regardless but it's the details lacking-- BioWare, turian biology book, please?

Thanks for the input, writing something and I want to get the details right. It's easy to substitute something like talon for fingernail but not all parts are equivalent (some are though, lol).
@ciaweth- itty bitty toe beans, now I know the proper terminology. :wizard:

Oh my god! I just flirted with Garrus for the first time! *breathes heavily*
...It was... sexy!

This also marks the first time ever in a Bioware game in which I have become romantically engaged with more than one LI!

My romances in Bioware's previous games have gone as follows:

KotOR - Carth (my first)
Jade Empire - Sky
Mass Effect - Kaidan
Mass Effect 2 - Kaidan (faithful to the first game)... and now GARRUS! (romance not completed yet of course)

Woohoo! Sorry, I don't mean to freak out  or create a disturbance but... I'm just really excited at the moment! :D *breaks out champagne*
