I have a lot to catch up on. xD For now, I'll just add my Shepards to the save/kill the Council and keep/destroy the Collector base discussion.
MainShep saved the Council - partly because she doesn't like to leave others behind (result of her Colonist War Hero past), but mostly because she likes turians and one of the councillors is turian. She also saved the Collector base and gave it to TIM as a thank you present for bringing her back to life, no second thoughts. The lesson here? MainShep plays favorites. Anyone on her good side is better off.
MaleShep is going to concentrate on Soverign. He gets a lot of anger built up towards the Council through ME1, but that's not the reason he left them to die. He thought it was a better military strategy to focus on the thing that's trying to destroy all organic life and not waste his firepower elsewhere - nothing more, nothing less. He'll destroy the Collector base because he's a very paranoid Sole Survivor, so he wouldn't trust TIM. He does like explosions (totally obvious by his weapon choices), but that's not part of his reason... just a bonus.
By the way, MainShep is Paragade (this time... she'll get some clones later on) and MaleShep is Neutral. My next Shepard will be a Renegade/Renegon who saves the Council for political reasons only. Playing different Shepards is fun.
And I like Grunt. MainShep thinks of him like a little brother. MaleShep will be glad to have someone destructive and battle-happy like him around.
