(For some reason, I got confused and thought the planet for Kahoku's mission was the one for Liara's mission, so I thought it was required to beat that thresher maw. Joy and relief when I found out it wasn't, but I can beat them now.)
Lol, I JUST fought that very same thresher maw with my Thane!Shep
The first time I tried to fight a thresher maw, I thought you were supposed to keep driving around all the time. And since on my first playthrough, my aim was about a good as a drunken monkey's, I just couldn't hit the damn thing. Eventually, it went underground and surfaced RIGHT underneath me. Critical mission failure. But then I figured out the skipping rope method, so my opinion on the thresher went from "ogod what is this, I don't even" to "pffft!"
My "Bioware is awesome" opinion started with ME1. Then I bought ME2, DA:O, Jade Empire and now KOTOR. Just need to make my way through them all now.

So is Garrus a realist or an idealist? I think both. Realist in that he knows that the rules sometimes should be broken. That the world is not pure. That he is fallible - and the suicide mission may not go well.
Idealist in that he thinks he can really help change the world. That the world can be seen in black and white (which of course, is called into question if Sidonis is spared). That no man, no problem.
That the rules may just be there to get in his way. That Shepard probably has the best judgment, all or most of the time.
Which one - idealist or realist - more than the other? I cannot say. or rather, I don't currently feel like saying. =p
I'd say it depends on whether or not Shepard pushed Garrus towards Paragon (idealist) or Renegade (realist)

While in this specific case I agree with you entirely, it's worth mentioning that this is the internet. I've seen an all-caps, three-page, vilest-names-each-participant-knows screaming match about salad dressing.ciaweth wrote...
That BioWare's games can engender this kind of freakoutery is actually a good sign--it means they've engaged the fans enough that their emotions are involved. The downside of said engagement is that sometimes people who can't appropriately channel their, uh, passionate feelings, come out of the woodwork.
Ranch is clearly superior.
I love the internet.
Death to the INFIDEL!
LMAO
I actually dislike all forms of dressing. I usually only use oil & vinegar. So me arguing like this is funny.

Now I wonder - what kind of games do you guys think Garrus would play, if any at all? (Or if our Shepards make him play them.) What about other turians? I remember hearing about a turian game... "Galaxy of Fantasy", was it?
@Nilfalasiel: That sounds like my first thresher maw attempt. xD The first one I managed to beat was with a Sentinel who could use Stasis and still cause damage, which made it possible. Then I got some advice on the last Garrus thread to use Warp on them. Thresher maw fights went from "Run, run, run, shoot!" to "What... I beat it already?" to MaleShep's crazy Warp + Adrenaline Rush + shotgun "Bring it on!"

I'm going to the beach for a week, starting Friday, and I'm planning to do that, too (not catch up when I return). I'm going to miss this place, but the above picture gives me hope of running into Garrus on the beach.
That sounds glorious! If you run into Garrus on the beach, you must promise to *take pictures*- do you so solemnly swear in Garrus' name, for the love of Clan V, Cookies amd Cupcakes?
I swear, or may Grunt put me in a half-nelson.

Hah, I just imagined something silly inspired by the current state of the DA2 boards. Do you think there are some old asari matriarch gamers who got all pissy because game controllers had to be modified to accomodate all these three-fingered wipper snapper newcomers and thereby limiting their choices and the complexity of their games?
Asari don't use game controllers....they just melt their minds with the game console

thanks lol....oh well, I think, with some help from the Collectors and the Reapers, the Asari can even melt their minds with the game consoles

MainShep would also like shooters, and those games with destructable environments. She'd have a huge collection of turian-made games too. Biggest difference between me and MainShep with RPGs - she's the type to put herself in the game.

I can see Garrus playing shooter games but being really, REALLY picky about the controls.
Only until he had them properly Calibrated. That may take

Oh gosh, Garrus with one of those shooters that lets you fiddle with controller sensitivity and map stuff onto buttons and invert analog stick directions and whatnot. Dear god, he'd never make it off the options screen.

This.
Also, now presenting:
Asteroid X57. Its fusion torches. Its underground facilities.
Local fauna: scientists. Lots of batarians.
And the legendary Flying Garrus.

Wrex is uninmpressed.

I bet Garrus likes highly customizable shooters because of his obsession with rifles and calibrating (getting things just right).Kim Shepard wrote...

Halo 3 would be pretty up his alley.

Either way, Garrus should change depending on how you mentored him. Although, technically the "renegading" are mostly just Shepard just agreeing with him. At least that's how I played my Shepard.
I'm replaying ME1 for the sole purpose of importing a non-romanced Shepard into ME2 so she can romance Garrus, so I'm super-conscious of everything I'm saying to him right now. I'm aware that if I'm not careful I could veer into "just say everything he wants to hear" territory, which is somewhere I don't want to go. I don't just want to suck up to him the whole time or anything like that. Still, this Shepard is pretty like-minded on most matters--after all, this is her best friend we're talking about. Of course, best friends aren't exactly alike on everything. It's fun trying to figure out how to handle everything. I hope I don't screw it up real good.

I created a thread recently "In Praise of the Modest Garrus Headbump Love Scene", and it was suggested that it would be of interest to fellow Garrus fans. Hope you all enjoy this paean to Garrus Awesomeness, whether or not you agree with my views.
As you can tell from the title, I was personally glad to be able to complete my OTP romance without having a sex scene or irrefutable proof that sex did occur. I wanted to leave it open. Of course, I'm aware that some of us fangirls/boys would actually have preferred a sex scene after all, and I respect that. I just want there to be more options in games to continue romances without necessarily having sex at distinct times and in distinct ways.

Don't worry, if you screw it up for ME3, you can always replay the whole dang thing from ME1 to ME3 just to get it perfect. <.<kglaser wrote...
