 Hey there
Popped in from the DA2 forums because ... well, Garrus is way cooler than the DA love interests, and quite possibly my fave character in any game. Ever. Plus, his voice

So hi all, love this thread x

@ Mentatzoee
Thanks I will have to give this a try. My Xbox hard drive is a very scary place to venture, however. It's gonna take some psychological preparation on my part.

@ AllThatJazz
Welcome to you as well. The more the merrier.

@ At anybody else out there
Come out you lurkers! We don't bite. I promise.

(Switched from the phone to the tablet, but looks like I can't quote properly from any of the iDevices... Damn standard form!)

@J4N3: Don't you dare saying that near an asari... Or she would take it seriously!

@Ragabul: Be brave! These instructions look to be pretty official, so you won't be voiding warranties, and if anything goes wrong... you could have it repaired! But don't worry, I really don't think you could do any of that wrong!

I actually replaced the screen of my iPhone not so long ago... It was pretty scary to tear it open and to do all the process-with a suction cup, lol-, but it ended pretty good in the end. You'll do fine, I'm sure!

Back to "topic"!

I was wondering what would Garrus look like if he belonged to another class? Would he be as badass if he was one of the few biotic turians? Would he be as sensitive if he was a soldier? What if he was an engineer? Do you picture him as anything else but what he is?

****, I can't edit either so forgive my doublepost!

@AllThatJazz: It's just great that all the love interests from DA got beaten by Garrus. He's the perfect heartbreaker (I just pictured him as the main chara of a High school-ish TV serie... The bad -but tender- guy from class!).

Do you have any other weaknesses for the other races of ME?

(And just out of curiosity, who would you choose from DA?)

I agree Garrus is cooler than DA:O love interests..Don't take it wrong, I love DA:O too. But, with Garrus, you already have a history with him, which is nice. And turian/human pairing makes things certainly interesting, considering the relationship between the races is a little bit cold. If something is forbidden to some extent.. well, brings some spice to the table.

I romanced Alistair (not a suprise probably) in DA:O. I have a soft spot for Sten too, but more in a platonic way (don't want to think about gunari mating rituals..). But nothing beats Garrus - he has some similarities to Alistair in terms of humor, but he has more life-experience and badassery, and he - certainly - is not a whiner (at least to me he isn't).

I can're picture Garrus as other than he is. However, he's not an engineer but I would call him techy. In ME1 his official class is actually about half about tech. He's basically the turian version of an infiltrator and that class has an underlying techy thing going on.

I'd say Garrus is definitely an infiltrator, but that was more obvious in ME1 (I've always kinda played infiltrators. Tried other classes, I've got now a renegade vanguard waiting for me to have some time and play with her -errr...-, but I can't find the same motivation as with headshooting people with a sniper rifle. Meep)

I just pictured Garrus as a biotic something. I somehow thought he would look a bit more... sensitive. I don't know how that makes sense, but it's the feeling I get (Maybe because of a mental association with Kaidan?).

I would say Garrus is definitely a infiltrator, both in personality and skills.

I even made a fanart to bribe you guys (so you won't kick me out of the thread when you find out how weird I am):

If you are weird I think you will fit in extra well actualy. So welcome to our calibrations. And you are quite skilled at drawing that hard to draw turian, thanks for sharing your art.

Isn't Saren a biotic? Or wasn't he at least supposed to be a biotic at one point? With turians to me biotics would almost seem the opposite as with humans. To me turian biotic=mysterious, powerful, and authoritative. I almost picture a turian biotic as I picture a krogan biotic.

Sorry, guys. I got another technical question. If I upload a character using the DAO character creator where does that character portrait go? I have the PS3 version of the game so it doesn't show up there. Where else in my account would I go to find it? It's like it gets eaten.

And to keep this turian related, I have bemoaned the rather glaring lack of turian biotics in the game. I would like to see one. I think it would be interesting.

There's been a lot of pages for me to catch up on lately. xD I agree with what you guys said about romance triggers being more obvious (and not forced, like with my MaleShep and Liara), and about the asari flirting. Most of my Shepards don't like it, especially my FemSheps. MaleShep won't have to deal with Shiala in ME2 (he killed her in ME1), but unfortunately still had to deal with the Consort because I wanted him to meet Septimus. There should have been an interrupt option in there. That's one thing I like about Zevran - he asks if the Warden is okay with the flirting, and if not, he stops. The asari need to learn this.

I've also heard about people accidentally romancing Leliana. I actually raised concerns about sensitive romance triggers in the DA2 forums, and I got a response from a writer who said that they have attempted to make the triggers far more obvious. Since dialog options apparently come with icons, I imagine that just putting a "heart" icon next to the romance triggering lines would alleviate the problem.

That's really good to hear. :) A heart icon would solve the problem of romance traps... unless it's a weird glitch, because technically, my MaleShep chose "not interested" and got a romance anyway.

@Ragabul: Yeah, Saren's a biotic. :D At least in ME1. I didn't see him use any biotic powers in Revelation, but until someone specifically says they came from Sovereign implants, I'm just going to believe that he only uses them when needed, like fighting Shepard.

I think the same way about turian biotics, but sadly the other turians don't - they seem not to trust them. (Poor Saren, barefaced and biotic. And yet, everyone trusted him.) I saw on this thread somewhere that Garrus made a comment about biotic implants, that turians wouldn't hesitate to use implants like Kaidan's with higher power spikes if all they did was give bad headaches. It makes me wonder what kind of effects Saren's implants had if he got them pre-Sovereign.

Then, yup, they are getting eaten cause I've only uploaded a dozen a so over the course of a week. No idea what that's about.

Hah, it worked, yea. Eseld Cousland was old.

@ Kim Shepard

Where in ME1 does Saren use biotics exactly? I have a vague memory of a fuzzy blue glow or something but I can't remember exactly where it was.

@ Nerjuna

If you're around I freely admit stealing this pic from one you uploaded a little while back.  If you don't want me to use it as avatar I will gladly change it to something else.

IIRC, Saren uses biotics in the final battle.

Hmm, I wasn't even thinking of that. I just chalked all that up to "weird Reaper chip powers." Does he ever demonstrate biotics before that?

Virmire: www.youtube.com/watch

As far as I remember, that's the only time he used them in a cutscene. He probably only does when he has to. Shepard's just that awesome.

Yep, that's it. I knew I remember fuzzy blue glow from somewhere. I thought it might be Virmire.

Haha... I'm getting tired of my Cousland icon, too. If I had the PC version, I'd upload my Shep. *sad panda*

Well, there are several characters (Thane, Jacob) you can flirt with pre-LM. Do NOT quote me on this, but so far as I know you can't trigger romances until someone is loyal so technically flirting with Thane there doesn't start the romance. I'm not sure with Jacob. I don't know this is true. I just think it is. I need to experiment.

In Thane's case, I don't believe the romance is locked in until he admits he has feelings for you and you reciprocate. Pre-LM, you can pick the "Just friends?" line and it doesn't start the romance. In the first post-LM conversation, the infamous "I want you, Thane" prompt appears. IIRC, after choosing this, Kaidan's picture still appeared in Shep's quarters. And while I it starts the romance path, I don't think you're actually locked in until after the "confession" scene.

Also, Garrus is still awesomesauce.
