You mean the dragons? It was probably months ago in one of the old Garrus threads.

If you mean the fringe conversation... it was in the last few days, at some point after page 200, I think.

It's the Associative Fringe Property which states that the length of a turian's fringe is directly proportional to the awesomeness of the turian in question.

And as to turian relationships, we do finally have confirmation via Cerberus News that long term monogamous relationships do occur among turians unless they mean something utterly different then we do by "wife" and "husband" but somehow I doubt it. We've also got the "mate and ship" guy on Omega and "life-span" talk turian with the asari on the Citadel. I think that all points toward long relationships being present.

I agree speaking of Sidonis in ME3 would make no sense. I meant that if something ELSE emotional comes up like, say, meeting Garrus dad that it would be silly for femshep to have nothing to say about it. Likewise it seems like they would have something to talk about if Kaidan/Liara came back on the scene if Shep is a cheater.

"Associative Fringe Property." I'll have to remember that. xD

Now that you mention it, I remember reading some mention of "husband" or "wife" in the Cerberus News. In that case, MainShep wants her childhood dream of marrying a turian. ME3 will probably have a vague ending for the romances that lets us know if they stayed together, which should happen as long as they're together at the end of ME3. It'll probably let us fill in our own ending as far as that goes, but during ME3, I think we'll just see some signs that the relationship is progressing in the direction to be serious. That's probably the way it should be too. Everyone has different ideas of what Shepard wants after that. MainShep would want to adopt a few orphans, since she was one herself, and raise them to be awesomeness in space like her and Garrus.

MainShep doesn't have to worry about cheating. Meeting Garrus' father would be great though. He would probably hate her and the influence she had on Garrus. I get the feeling there would be a "resist the urge to punch him like that reporter" moment for some Shepards.

I agree, vague is best. That or have one of those highly variable endings a la Dragon Age that lets you pick about every scenario known to man. That would be awesome. It's probably completely unrealistic for ME3, though. I have no idea what my Shep would want come to think. She isn't the settle down type. I think she'd go on fighting until she ran herself into the ground. Don't know with paragon. I could see her settling. She could be the adoption kind as well. Haven't really thought about it.

I agree also that we will probably just see some subtle signs in ME3. I really like the sound of that actually considering ME2 was rather lacking in the subtlety department. Garrus romance dialog has the subtlety of a runaway MACK truck.

Was it part when there was that picture of Garrus as Saphira (memory a little fogged)?

MainShep wouldn't exactly settle down... those orphans would see for themselves just how awesome their parents are. :) And grow up battle-happy too.

Adopted turian teen: *perfect headshot* My daddy taught me that.
Garrus: I'm so proud. :D
Adopted human teen: *defeats a geth colossus in close combat with a tech shield, biotic powers, and a shotgun* Mom taught me that!
MainShep: I'm so proud! ...And worried. o_o;
Adopted turian child: Grandpa taught me this! *shoots exploding tanks on both sides of him with a pistol in each hand, then uses a killer biotic move* Now walk away, because cool guys don't watch the explosion.
Garrus: I've said it before and I'll say it again, Shep. Your godfather scares me sometimes.

This is the future of the galaxy. Not sure if the Council should be happy or terrified by it.

@Alexine: Garrus as Saphira? Nope, I don't think I've ever seen that. xD

True, and I've already stated I found this dialogue reason to hide under couch cushions the first time I'd heard it, but after analyzing the dialogue bits and the whole romance extensively I just can't find fault with it.  It goes a long way towards defining Garrus as a character and the romance overall.

It's not nearly as terrifying as some of the dresses the future apparently has my great-granddaughters wearing in the late 22nd century.  Yikes! :P

Oh, I wasn't complaining.  I exaggerate a lot and I have a thing for colorful metaphors.  Wait. Is Garrus rubbing off on me?

Maybe I should stop that.  It gets me into trouble a lot.

I really like the content as well.  I think it's brilliant.  I just wish we had more.  I've got a well known stick up my butt about what I see as something of a lack of content compared to other LIs.  I'm a greedy bastard.  I WANTS MOAR!  I wouldn't trade what we do have for anything.  I'd just like some, huh, icing in ME3.

And what I meant by "subtlety" wasn't really about reach and flexibility. I mostly meant I would like to talk about some softer stuff as well. And see little signs of change once the romance is initiated. Like slightly different dialog in normal conversations or slightly different in-combat lines. In ME2, half the time Garrus acts like nothing is happening. That's what I meant by subtlety. I wish the game was more responsive to who you have as your LI.

Huh, this raises an interesting question.  How open do you guys see the relationship with Garrus becoming?  As in how much of this "serious, emotional" stuff would you like to see discussed in ME3?

An interesting question indeed!
The Serious & Emotional doesn't necessarily have to be touchy-feely drama and meltdowns.  But I do see (my) Shepard and Garrus as a pair who end up being pretty open to each other.   It can take a while for Garrus to start talking more about serious stuff, but they are very aware of each other and understand.  They've got a foundation of trust to build upon.   And as Garrus says, "nervous, but never uncomfortable."   The final romance scene was, to me, very much about Garrus opening up and either talking or intentionally taking a definite step in the direction of sharing.

I have to admit, though, that I would kind of like Garrus to actually cry or whatever their physiological equivalent would be.  (Now this could, of course, go all wrong if not done extremely carefully.)  Not bawl...he doesn't seem to come from the most demonstrative culture, after all -  but it would be nice if, after he's been alone with Shepard and talked with Shepard and been physically intimate with Shepard, he'd eventually get to the point of feeling that it's OK to maybe get a moist eye in front of Shepard in ME3 without looking away.  Maybe even a single happy tear.

But that's just me, not saying it's necessarily a good idea to actually try to implement in ME3.

The Garrus romance dialogue has all the subtlety of my MaleShep. He tells everyone exactly what he thinks of them. (And I get to go through that dialogue again with Parasini. xD "I can bludgeon pretty hard.")

I agree about the subtle things in ME3. :) That would be great.

Yeah, some of those dresses are horrible. There are some that cover them though, and one of them looked awesome. (Check out the one at 1:58 - www.youtube.com/watch - if I could use mods, outfits like this are one of the things I'd use it for.) I think humans must have started taking fashion advice from the asari... and the only good outfit they have is the asari commando outfit.

MainShep's adopted kids would destroy the Reapers again for fun. :D Actually, they could just send in the biotic turian who acts like an action movie star. He doesn't need a team. (But he does need a name, because he's canon now. Except in my warped version of canon, there are several Shepards, MainShep has a clone sister like Miranda, and the true MainShep hooked up with reincarnated Saren.)

I always saw Garrus and Shep as having a very easy friendship.  I think they get on so well that a lot of stuff doesn't even have to be spoken.  They just kinda of get it from each other without having to say anything.  That being said, there are many things Shep wouldn't know if Garrus doesn't say it outright  like that stuff in the final romance scene.  I'm pretty sure that's about the most revealing he's ever been to anybody so, yea, that's got definite potential to show that he is finally opening up.  As for turian tears, I have no idea if they do cry.  Most of their emotions seem to be displayed via mandibles so I'm sure there's something there to display sadness.  A lot of folks think the "headbump" is basically a turian kiss, or they like to think that anyway.  Lots of fics support that idea anyway.  So I think sadness would probably manifest in something like that.  Some other signal a human might not immediately get.  For all we know, Garrus may have already done it and we didn't recognize it.  I could go with this idea IF it was done carefully and I mean VERY carefully.  It has a lot of potential to be abused, but Bioware's got some good writers.  If they wanted something like this, they could come up with something I am sure.

Actually, that sounds promising.  I think ME3 will have something to do with Dark Energy.  There were lots of things left hanging.  Think about Haestrom's sun and Parasini talking about lots of hits on Noveria over Dark Energy.  Something concerning Dark Energy is abrewing in Mass Effectville.

@ Kim
Bioware needs to hire you for a writer.  All the ****ing on the DA2 boards about predetermined characters would end abruptly if they revealed you got to play with THAT predetermined list of characteristics.  I would anyway.
