Heh, interesting.  I abstained.  I can't do quizzes that require me to choose.  I am, after all, Involved in a Stupid Love Triangle.

I have a Non-Romanceable Love Triangle going between Grunt, Legion, and Mordin. I went with Mordin in that poll after I decided I'd feel more gutted if I voted for Legion and saw he had twice the votes of Mordin as opposed to the other way around.

It's not gay if it's a elf or turian. And yes, if I could go gay for something I would also go gay for Garrus voice. Perfectly normal.

I have no problem with M/M, but the dialog would definitely need to change if Shepard was male and romancing Garrus...and not just the waist and hair thing.

I'm updating the Clan V thread with all my findings :3

The Tali/Quarian lovers had Ascension.

Turians get some tidbits in Retribution.

But I won't say anymore here. Cause I'll not spoil it right away. Though this is in the Spoilerz area, I don't know how to make different colored text (with out the internet blowing up) so I'll just keep it in the spoiler thread for now.



Suffice to say... the book it self is really good. And yea, its still a story about humans.

I agree. I prefer that the orientations of the existing characters are not changed. I've no problem with new characters being bisexuals, gay, whatever, but I prefer the characters who already have romances to remain only with the genders they were open to from the start.

This. All the existing characters have had their sexual preferences established by now. If they're going to introduce an M/M romance, it would have to be a brand new character.

In regards to how the romance gets started, I agree that Shepard HAD to be blunt with Garrus. in my view, Shepard's " I couldn't have done this without you Garrus" "That's why I'm glad you're here Garrus, if I'm walking into hell I want someone I trust at my side" sounded very affectionate coming from femshep, just like how Tali's "I wish Shepard were here..." sounded more affectionate if you played a manshep and romanced her later. Plus you can even tell Kelly you want to hug him !  So in a sense Shepard has already been subtle telling Garrus how much he means to her, the only way forward was to be direct.

I think Shepard was patiently waiting for an opening after realizing she did have feelings for him, so during Garrus's Reach and Flexibility conversation, she seized it. She used that conversation as a means to let Garrus know she was interested while using his words against him to get the upper hand in their banter (usually it's always Garrus that does) thereby, hitting two turians with one stone .

It was also used to test the waters I think, if it went badly, Shepard could have always brushed it off and said she was "kidding". After all, she only used innuendo and didn't outright say "Garrus I'm interested in you" so it made it easier to backpeddle in case Garrus didn't show interest.  When Garrus DOES respond positively, Shepard's dialogue changes; "I don't want something closer to home, I want you"  theres no need to disguise the interest with jokes or innuedno anymore. Once the attraction has been established, she and Garrus slowly reveal that they want more than one night of "blowing of steam" . That's my take on it anyway.

I really do love the Garrus romance. The way she bluntly flirts with him, leaving all options open in case he's not interested, then her whole body language in the game and her face! it's just all PURRFECT, to me anyway! she bends her head down a bit, looks at him and smiles cheekily, while he stands right infront of her, leans his head a bit back to appear taller, then tilts his head to the side, running what she had just said through the entire thought process until it hits him, that she had actually MEANT what he had thought she had. It's just too sweet. Also, how he expresses his concerns later on, how she is trying to comfort him so he gets a bit relaxed and then goes back to the banter, to give him the chance of regaining the uppper hand in this conversation. just LOVE it!

And the fact, that he uses words like clinical or dirty, goes to show that even though they were talking about blowing off steam in the beginning, it is more than just that because if you actually just want to blow off steam, meaning get laid, you don't care what it sounds like. you just do it and then you feel more relaxed and move on. But he really cares about how it feels. He doesn't just want this to be something quick. He wants it to be something special. And usually if you want it to be something special, that means, it means more to you than just sex.

It would be fun if some character in the game commented the Shepard/Garrus romance with: "WTF! It's a goddamn turian! Are you out of your skull!" Just because it would be funny and frankly a rather understandable concern for someone who doesn't know them well.

I agree with what you guys said about the Garrus romance. It's definitely my favorite. Actually, my favorite romances are all of the aliens except asari. Garrus - favorite FemShep romance (and favorite overall), Tali - favorite MaleShep romance, and Thane - second-favorite FemShep romance.
