Yea, I've got pretty much everything that's got a Mass Effect stuck on the front of it. Everything but the iPhone game. Don't know if I am missing much there.

I am going to buy that book and read it at the beach!
(If I can find it in the store, that is.)

I think TIM is okay with MainShep's turian obsession, at least for now. Sure, she'll keep bothering him until he resurrects Saren ("Are you going to start now? How 'bout now? Now?"), but she goes along with his plans, and that's the important thing. xD Besides, if he wants to destroy an alien species, MainShep will help him with the batarians.

Fix'd ;)

Garrus is fiery.

And this is yet another reason why I love him. <3

I do however think that turians use their mandibles pretty much as we
use our eyebrows and I think there is some in game evidence of that.
Happy Garrus comes to mind as does Li on Noveria. Some of it is kind of
obvious and some of it has a high learning curve but once you start to
crack it a little I think you can definitely tell that Bioware devs had
some definite ideas about "if a turian does this with his mandibles he's
feeling X emotion."

The one that stands out for me is the scene where Nihlus, Anderson, and Shepard are watching the horror unfold on Eden Prime over the viewscreen at the beginning of ME1.  In that scene, while Nihlus is watching it, his mandibles flare way out to the sides a couple times (I think JulianP mentioned this one?).  I knew it meant a strong reaction of some kind but was never sure what.  Maybe it's like raising your eyebrows really high in surprise?

Well, I didn't want to assume.  But I was pretty darn suspicious.  :P

Another one I like is where Garrus' mandibles twitch as he is concentrating on aiming at Sidonis.  It's a really nice intensifier.  There is also a subtle mandible twitch I have never been quite sure about in the romance scene.  I think that one is the turian equivalent of a nervous tic.

On another note, I am just now reading a fic called "Acceptable Losses" for the first time and it is fantastic. Among the best I have read yet.

I remember that very well from MaleShep's playthrough. :) It was adorable. I never really thought about comparing it to human expressions other than it looked like a "Yikes, what is that thing?" face.

I do believe though, that they would communicate through looks A LOT! And seeing that Garrus and Shep have a certain tone to their voices, I can totally picture them making dirty inside jokes, then look at each other and know exactly what the opposite is thinking!

This is totally hot. B)

I was a bit apprehensive after reading the initial prompt, and I normally don't read fics where Thane dies... but I have to say, as someone who's romanced both Thane and Garrus, I found it rather touching.

What tipped you off?  Was it my inappropriate hat-related comments?  Or perhaps my Clan V. title ("Resident Dirty Old Woman")?  Or my blatant and numerous past perverted posts? :P

I avoided it because the description made it sound soapy. Then I realized that it was written by the same person who wrote Broken Trust, and I was like "if anybody can pull off that crazy situation than that writer can." And the writer was true to form. She? has a great talent for making REALLY implausible situations seem both possible and in character. It's quite astounding.

That's what most impressed me about it.  I was all, "Oh, come on...this serial-relationship situation is a bit implausible, don't you think?" and maybe in someone else's hands, it would have been.  But it was totally believable as-written.  I don't think everyone could have done that as plausibly.  The pacing was key and it was spot-on.

It would be fun if some character in the game commented the Shepard/Garrus romance with: "WTF! It's a goddamn turian! Are you out of your skull!" Just because it would be funny and frankly a rather understandable concern for someone who doesn't know them well.

I'd like to see this if only for the renegade interrupt.  Posted Image

Oh I hope that reporter brings it up, I REALLY do!

Al-Jilani: Commander Shepard!

Shepard: Not you again

(her response depends on whether or not you punched her previously)

Al-Jilani: Now Shepard, you can’t hide from the news, you ARE the news, I just want to ask you a few questions/a few punches to the face aren’t going to stop me doing my job Shepard, I just want to ask you a few questions.

(Shepard Can choose to leave or answer her questions again.Jilani will give you her default questions which also give you the option to knock her on her ass at any time, if you hold off you get the chance to answer a bonus string of questions if you romanced an alien. If you don’t punch her, shepard can answer in a paragon or renegade way, if you do, you AND your LI get to punch her!)

Al-Jilani: (The renegade interrupt flashes throughout this WHOLE conversation) One more thing commander, is it true you are in a relationship with a Turian? And not just any Turian, Garrus Vakerian, c-sec drop out and failed spectre candidate who allegedly turned vigilante on Omega.  Tell me Shepard, what kind of message do you think this sends to the people back home? Surely you can see how such a relationship would make people question where your loyalty lies; you can’t seriously be committed to representing Earth if you chose to fornicate with an alien.

Paragon answer: Al-Jilani, just because you have prejudices against aliens doesn’t mean the rest of human kind does. Unlike you, I treat people as individuals first, their race is not the only thing that defines who they are. My relationship is not a statement or an act of rebellion and frankly it’s none of your business, excuse me.

Renegade answer: You know Jilani, sometimes I think you WANT to get punched in the face but there are more important things going on right now and I’m not going to waste my time. You could be reporting some REAL news right now but instead you’re asking an alliance officer /spectre who she’s sleeping with, this interview is over.

SHEPARD PUNCH: Jilani, we REALLY need to stop meeting like this and you really need to learn when to shut up.

(The following is what she says regardless when you punch her)

Al-Jilani: You ****! (Gets up) You’re not as invincible as you think you are Shepard! Punching me might not turn people against you but when you DO screw up, I’LL be right there to report it, then EVERYONE will see what you REALLY are!

(If your LI is in your group they knock her down a second time, if not shepard punches her again and walks off)

Garrus: What? You’re the only one who’s allowed to punch people now?

Yea, the fact that the thing with Thane is already established at the beginning helps.  For some reason if you start a story by saying "Jill was madly in love with Bob" than the reader instantaneously believes you.  However, if you try to gradually reveal that through the course of the story that "Jill falls for Bob" it doesn't always work.  To make a character fall for two people in that amount of time and make it seem believable is really hard to pull off.  And of course the story actually happens over multiple months, and she doesn't try to narrate moment by moment.  That helps too.  You believe those summaries by default for some reason when the writer just says "and then she felt this way for two weeks."  When you actually try to SHOW what she felt in a specific conversation, it is much harder to sell because this is where the real emotion is.  You can't just tell it, you have to demonstrate it.  This writer manages both.  She knows when to summarize and she knows when to get detailed and even more importantly she knows HOW to get detailed effectively.

OOH!!!  ME LIKEY.  Customized results according to LI!

Garrus gets to headbutt her.
Thane gets to drop down from the ceiling and do some kind of Vulcan nerve pinch thingy.
Jacob gets to utter some cheesy line and she runs away screaming.
Make it so! :D

I'm not sure Thane should be allowed to Renegade interrupt her: he might just snap her neck by "accident". Jack shouldn't be allowed to either: not only would she splatter her all over a wall, she'd probably destroy a store and kill a few passersby by accident too.

Miranda, though, would totally ****slap her ass in a circle. And that would be awesome.
Tali should hack her camera and make it fall on her head or something.
Jacob only needs to say "but the priiiiize".
And Garrus headbutt = win.

As much as I love the flirty implications of the "take your shields down" line, it does seem to follow more reasonably as "You've seen me shoot, Shepard" combat-buddies banter than some kind of "strip your armor" innuendo.

Yes and no...I have mixed feelings about the pre-romance flirting.  Does anyone else have a "work-spouse"?  I'll make flirty comments, but I don't think it's flirting with them.  I also engage in self-mockery and snarky behavior.  Hmm.  The more I think about it, the more I understand why I like Garrus.

I would say he's flirting, but not flirting with Shepard.  If that makes sense.

The "work spouse" thing.  YES.  That is exactly right for my femShep and Garrus.
