Every quarian has a different accent. Except for the generic males who are voiced by Zevran's VA.

And I could never pinpoint quarians accents. To me they have a gamish of accents that all sound "vaguely eastern European with some other random stuff thrown in." I think they were going for exotic and in that capacity they succeeded.

Well, Shohreh (VA for Shala) is pretty much sticking to her regular Iranian accent, Claudia Black also sticks to her British/Australian accent, just mechanised. Baldwin doesn't change his accent either.

Ha! Way to rally the troops. Although I appreciate that he didn't say "Vote for Garrus" but instead left it open. I see one of the first commenters voted for Jacob.

Why don't Bioware have a British VA? I bet that if it was amde into a turian voice then it should get some interesting results. Garrus' dad probably has an english accent, at least i hope so.

And on the subject of iffy fanfiction, I guess Bioware siometimes regreds making mass effect when they read that. Still, you gotta take the weird with the awesome.

Yet, Claudia Black didn't sound at all to me as she does in Origins. There I thought the Aussie came through more. Maybe something about the qurian resonance thing with their suits seems to just make their voices go that way? I'll also admit to having virtually no experience with accents so what it sounds like to me and what it actually is is probably pretty darn different. I'm used to "drawl," "thicker drawl," and "people who say without for unless and pronounce ocre 'oakree'" so I'm hardly able to qualify any of this.

On other topics, I also really like Kal. I didn't get the quarian appeal until male quarians started showing up. Then I suddenly got it. However, I don't know about the Tali/Kal thing. I think I'm of the opinion that "just because they talk to each other and respect each other doesn't mean..." I think Kal is quite a lot older than Tali. I think 40ish or so. I just think Tali is really given a lot of authority for two reasons. One, her father is an admiral, and two, she helped stop Saren and the geth and possibly brought back invaluable geth data. The way she is treated during her trial seems to imply she is almost a quarian household name now, and why wouldn't she be? I think it's quite natural for Kal to call her "ma'am." Failing that I think Kal is just kinda old-fashioned deferring around women and people he thinks know more than he does. "Can't really say, ma'am, I just shoot things." That's one reason I really like him. He's possibly the least pretentious guy in the game. Confident but not in your face about it.

And to keep this on topic, I also wouldn't mind non-romanced Garrus hooking up with a turian or showing interest in her. In fact, I think it would make a really funny situation if female turians show up in ME3 and you are in a relationship with him. It could make for all kinds of amusing encounters. How do you think Garrus would react to someone sleazy coming on to Shepard? Like say, Meln, in Samara's LM? I always wished he was there just so I could see what he might do. I don't see him as possessive. If femshep needed help I think he'd be all over it, but in that situation I think he would be amused. I think he'd just sit back and watch Shep punch the guy in the face and find it all very funny.

Yea, wall of text.

I never really saw much of a difference between a Kal/Tali dynamic and that of Garrus/Shepard, so the pairing works to me. For other reasons, too.

One time, me and a friend talked about Garrus' dad and we both agreed that if some high profile male actor is going to play as Garrus' dad, it should be Liam Neeson. Although pairing Brandon Keener and Liam Neeson would probably cause the universe to destroyed itself... and it will be awesome.

I approve +1000  Wasn't it kinda implied that somebody from Bioware wanted Neeson to do Saren in the ME movie?

Neeson as Saren? Where did you hear it. It's kinda sounded wierd having Saren being voiced or acted by Neeson, since I'm used to Saren's old VO, but they might be able to pull it off.

Still I vote to see Garrus' dad in ME3, being voice by Liam Neeson. BioWare, do it, now!

I remember hearing something about them wanting a "former Jedi to put on some turian battle armor" or something like that. I hardly think they mean the guy who plays Obi-Wan or Anakin. I thought Neeson made the most sense out of the list of potential Jedi actors. I think his voice would sound awesome with flanging added. I still actually wish they would mostly just use the game VAs though. I mean, with the aliens, they have already proven they can do stellar voice work. I guess they want to pepper the movie with big-names though to try to get it off its feet. I hate how Star Wars just smothers all other space opera out there. Even space opera that is 575% better. It's so frustrating.

You think she sounds more Aussie in Origins? She sounds British to me...and I do have a few Aussie friends who sound nothing like her.

Don't get me wrong, it's not like I'm going to pair Tali up with Veetor all of a sudden because she shows concern for him. But she does express a wish to be more familiar with Kal ("call me Tali"), and he is, by far, the most eligible quarian male you get to meet. That's why I like the idea of that pairing.

I think Kal is quite a lot older than Tali. I think 40ish or so. I just think Tali is really given a lot of authority for two reasons. One, her father is an admiral, and two, she helped stop Saren and the geth and possibly brought back invaluable geth data. Again, the fact that she suggests that he call her by her first name makes it seem, to me, like he's not that much older than her. It would just be weird for her to say that to someone who's much older and whom she doesn't know all that well.

I'm also not suggesting that either of the two actually has a crush on the other as of ME2. But I do think there is potential for developing something in ME3, if Tali hasn't been romanced (or if you're playing a FemShep).

And to keep this on topic, I also wouldn't mind non-romanced Garrus hooking up with a turian or showing interest in her. Yeah, I don't think Garrus would get all protective. He knows Shep can take care of unwanted suitors just fine. But would Shepard react just as calmly if a turian lady came on to Garrus?

On the topic of VAs, I still think Alan Rickman would make a good turian.

I do agree it's interesting to hear flanging effect with Neeson's voice. I hope it's Neeson when they mention about "putting a turian battle armour on a former Jedi", not the guy who plays Anakin. I've only saw a few snippets of the prequel SW trilogy, and I wasn't too impressed by it at a few scenes. I might need to look at it again but the point is that, if they are picking the actor who plays Anakin... I had a bad feeling about Garrus' VO in the movie version.

Well, she also voices Chloe Frazier in Uncharted which came out about the same time as DAO.  Ironically, Steve Valentine also voices a major a character in that game (a bad guy actually.)  Anyway, Chloe Frazier is an Aussie so I got used to Claudia Black's voice there first and the Aussie just never wore off.  Maybe I am projecting onto her in Origins what I heard in Uncharted.

I think the reaction for turian flirting with Garrus would depend on the Shep.  My paragon wouldn't mind because she is all about "trust an not jumping to conclusions."  My paragade wouldn't like it but she would keep her tongue for it a bit.  If it kept up however she'd likely get pissy and passive aggressive.  If it came a direct confrontation, it wouldn't be pretty, but it would take quite a lot to make her do that.

I think some mandible flaring would definitely be involved.  But I'm pretty sure he'd bite his tongue and let Shep handle it.   Perhaps he'd throw in a "ha, pwned!" type comment afterwards.

I agree with that as well, not sure what role would fit with Alan Rickman in ME3, but it does sounded good.

Been thinking about ME 3 and what new aliens they could be making and how they would sound or even how the females would sound. I'm guessing female turians not only have a flanging effect but also a slight ring ton their voice as well. I'm all well and fine for ME 3 as long as we're back in the alliance and Spectres again.

This is neat. I don't know who to pick, though. Can't I have Garrus and Mordin on one t-shirt? Maybe with a little Tali thrown in for good measure? That shirt would be so awesome, it'd warp spacetime.

Choices...:?

Claudia Black said once her natural accent was a mixture of Australian/British when they were discussing the accent of Peacekeepers in general for the show Farscape.

I'd throw my vote in for Liam Neeson as the voice of Garrus' dad. Between him and Garrus/BK, 'verse would implode from too much badass on a disc. :P

As long I can make a decent outcome in ME3, where Shepard and Garrus survives at the end and continued on with their lives together till the end of their days; I'm ready for the game.

How about this: If the female turian LI that in my mind must be in ME3 doesn't get maleShep (for some strange reason..) she will start flirting with Garrus? Then we could finaly get to see turians kissing, for science of course.
I am sure Garrus likes seeing femShep beating up creeps. I think he likes it very much in fact.

Yeah, I'm hoping BioWare doesn't pick just one character for a shirt.  That'd be strange somehow, since it's the whole ensemble that makes ME what it is.
