Interesting spelling mistake there Andaius. Been playing a little Dawn of War on the side?

That's the Lovecraft thing from Buddha? The Reapers really do fit Lovecraft well, don't they? In fact, seems I recall a deve pretty much flat out saying that's where they got the idea from.
yes, Lovecraft fits in with ME 1's story so good it's creepy. Buddha is going to take ME 2 story into the FF too I think.
He's up to chapter XIX now so if yo uhaven't started readign it you have some catching up to do!
The story line is ME 1's so it will be very familar.
That story is the main reason I subbed to 'buddhas blog. Even as appreciative of it as they are it definitely deserves a wider audience. It easily stands as one of the better Lovecraftian style stories I've ever read, let alone one of the best ME fanfics I've read.

I know this is OT so I apologize in advance. Tell me honestly guys, did you guys dislike Jacob on your first playthrough? Do you remember what your opinion of him was the first time? Cause I don't really remember much. I remember being put out by femshep's tone and I remember getting a little panicky over the word "fraternization." I also remember really admiring the guy on his LM because he is the only squaddie who doesn't shoot of his own volition. All the others: Garrus, Mordin, Miranda, Jack, you have to talk down. Jacob makes the paragon choice all on his lonesome. I remember pre-release I actually thought the guy looked mildly interesting. I was more interested in Thane however. I'm just wondering how much the Jacob hate groupthink has infected people. Even if you found him somewhat distasteful, did that distaste increase once you got on the forums? How many of you have gone through a Jacob romance? Was your first knowledge of what the romance contained from forum posts and youtube vids? I remember thinking he was boring and not someone I wanted to romance, but I don't think I started actively disliking him until I got on the forums.
FemSheps dialogue style really wasn't amusing for me so I kind of avoided him first off an a "wtf is meant to be going on there...?" basis.
On my first MShep runthrough I actually started to really like Jacob and thought he was a decent character and one that you could really rely on and trust your back to.
Fshep run where I decided to give his romance a go, and he dumped me. At which point I went to thinking he was a jerk with some issues.
Since then I've eased up on him a fair bit. He does have some decent on-mission dialogue, especially on the Derelict Reaper.

So I didn't manage to find that banner I was looking for...but I did find a LOT of hate for the Tali/Kal idea. Some from hardline Talimancers who were going "ZOMFG, Tali can't be with ANYbody but Shepard!!!!111oneone!!!"
Others who were going "NOWAI, Kal needs to be an LI option for FemShep ONRY!"
And other people who were going "so because a guy and a girl talk to each other, that means they want to maek bebiz?"
Jeez...the hostility
I recently discovered that some people have deliberately killed Kal'Reegar on all their playthroughs so he can never be with Tali. And then were also some people who made sure Jacob didn't survive the suicide mission so he couldn't "steal" Miranda or Kasumi from their Shepards.
But the Creepiest Creep On The Internet Award goes to the people who deliberately got Tali exiled so she wouldn't have anywhere to go but the Normandy and she would have to stay with Shepard forever omg omg why do these people exist whyyyyyyyyy
There are some people who really, really need to take a step back and a deep breath, then let it go and relax.
Personally, in any playthrough where the characters survive (talking ME3 time as well as ME2), my Shepards would want them to go and and live as happily as possible for as long as possible with people who'd treat them well. In a mushroom house filled with rainbows and unicorns /paragonpsychosis.
But the deliberate exile thing is
super-creepy.

Also, I never saw the appeal in Kal. *runs away and hides*
Nor do I. He's like forty... maybe it's the missile launcher. Women like men with "big guns."

I voted Garrus on the shirt poll but...
