Hey, Garrus thread. Garrus is my bro, too. Wanted to show y'all my story, "Mass Effect: Grand Escapades" in my sig, where he plays an archer in Tali's roleplaying game named, appropriately enough, Brogar. :V I consider suggestions, so if you think of anything awesome Garrus should do, let me know.
Thanks, we're always up for more Garrus fic.

He gets some master burns on Miranda in Chapter 5, too. I think he'll become a min-maxer once he learns what he can do to up his dice rolls. Not sure.

I noticed a dramatic change in tone from KOTOR to KOTOR II. Not so unexpected, due to different developers, but there's was quite a shift. KOTOR was hopeful, morally black and white, colorful, very Star Warsy - so to speak. KOTOR II was bleak, dreary, colorless, hopeless, and morally gray. I appreciated both styles, but the second game was a bit depressing.Ragabul the Ontarah wrote...
KotoR is pretty sappy. But then again Star Wars is practically Space Fantasy. I don't think the mushy stuff would fit so well in ME either. It really is stylistically distinctive from all the other Bioware games.
Thank god. I really loved the loyalty missions. I don't think that ME3 should repeat them, but I really liked that I wasn't going around 4 areas and collecting something again as Bioware games sometimes (always?) do.ME2 was their first game in like 7 years to break from the "collect 4 things from 4 areas of the world" mold.
Of those two I think Tali would be most likely to say it. Kaidan in ME1 put his foot in his mouth when he almost kind of said it. Though in ME2 he does say "I loved you"...However, there are some characters it seems to make sense for. Liara for instance. I found it rather weird that she never said it. Tali and Kaidan are also strong candidates to say it.

I think that's true - they would have to get the tone right for Shepard. With DA:O as you said, the player can imagine how it's said (or not at all if they don't want to). If Shepard says the words in a flat or otherwise flawed way, then it can ruin the effect. Though, all of the relationships are really just start out in Mass Effect. In Dragon Age, presumably, the romances have/can develop further than can be currently done in ME1 or ME2. In Mass Effect so far, the relationships haven't been progressed past the first night of intimacy. Hopefully in ME3 we'll have more dialog about actually being a couple, and all that is associated.Ragabul the Ontarah wrote...
I dunno why nobody says that in ME except in creepy moments or the past tense. All other Bioware games have been oozing sunshine and bunnies in their romances. Even with characters like Zev and Morrigan who don't say the words, they still go out of their way to explain WHY they don't say it. In ME it just never comes up. I don't resent that or anything. It's just a marked difference from their other games. I wonder is that more supposed to be about Shep than the LIs? I mean Shep is our only voiced protagonist. If the VA doesn't get it just right it could tick folks off but with a silent PC the player can imagine it being said about 12 different ways. I wonder what they will do about this in DA2.
Also, I would very much like for other characters to acknowledge Shepard's romance. We did a bit of that with Kasumi and Mordin, which I'm glad for. But I want moar. It'd be great, for example, for that reporter to criticize Shepard because she or he is dating a turian or quarian.

KotoR 2 was a disappointment for me because I just see how many ways it COULD be awesome, but it's like they released it 6 months early or something. You could sorta tell where they had all these cool things planned that they never quite got around to, but didn't bother completely removing from the game. So you'd get a little taste of something awesome and then it would just peter out. Same with NWN2. So much squandered potential. Obsidian releases their games too early.
I agree. More romance acknowledgement is a good thing. And I have always thought that ME romances were paced funny. They have always felt rushed to me. They are rich in subtext but you have to really pick them apart and analyze them to get it all. I'm hoping that's because they were designed to happen over multiple games so Bioware intentionally left a lot of vague areas they could flesh out later. I don't want ANY new LIs in ME3. It's time to batten down and focus on what we got. Some Kelly type construction to entertain newbs and people who like flings, but that's about it. That's my two cents anyway. I might could also relent for the inclusion of legit F/F or M/M. Those guys have been waiting a while now and mostly with patience and tact. I wouldn't mind budging over a bit if they could get some content.

Not for the story or the combat or any of that sh*t.
I loved it for the characters.

Yeah, now that I think of it... Liara pretty much said all the stuff that means "I love you" without ever saying "I love you." xD She definitely seems like the type to say it. I think Tali would probably be the type to say it in ME3, even though she already loves Shepard now. From what I remember, she was pretty nervous that she would say the wrong thing, kind of like Garrus, but it's been a while since I watched it on youtube.(I haven't played through the Tali romance yet. It's all Liara's fault!) I don't think I know Kaidan well enough to judge. I'll leave that to Sia and Jane.
A job we will gladly fulfill.

I am reading it right now. Will report when I am done, but so far so good. The confusion over the word "roleplaying" from Shep was pretty funny.
