I am perfect agreement with you.

Also, something about this is reminding me of the last book in the Twilight series.  Mutant vampire babies anyone?  Anyone?

Ah yes, from the series of book where vampires don't explode into flame and dust upon hitting sunlight? I've dismissed that series.

/yawn Oh, Shepard, this match is going on so late...I'm so tired. LOL

And Steel Dancer:  They don't have to explode because they are FABULOUS, SPARKLY vampires!

No, wait! Kenneth down in Engineering trying to give Garrus advice might even be funnier than if Joker did.

Twilight results in mutant babies, though.

I never read the Twilight books. I've heard a lot, but what in particular is so wrong with them? Sparkling vampires and mutant babies excluded.

I must admit to reading the first one and New Moon.   Meyers uses an excess of purple prose and Bella is the WORST Mary Sue EVER.  I fully expect her to become the new nickname for that archetype.

Ah, I heard about Bella. From what I gather, her greatest "faults" are being too popular and beautiful or something. That is pretty Mary Sue, indeed.

No, her "fault" is being endearingly shy, clumsy and awkward.

Because, you know, people like being stepped on and being stared at silently.

I'll take Garrus' awkwardness any day of the week.

The closest I came to having anything to do with "Twilight" was the Riff Trax done on the first movie. Holy cow, I thought "Star Wars: Episode I" had gobs of people who couldn't act! If you must have anything to do with "Twilight" and don't want to read the books, seek out Riff Trax and spare yourself (you can see a preview on Youtube. Funny as hell, and it's free).

Isn't there also a particularly charming scene where she basically tells Edward that she's worthless without him?

Hearing that endeared the series to me immensely. Image IPB

That would be the entirety of New Moon.

My friends at work read the "Twilight" books for their book club. The consensus was that they were some of the worst-written and awful books they'd ever read.

I can't personally say, since I didn't read them.

Do you think that if Garrus had proper quarters, instead of being locked in the Main Battery all the time, he'd have a bookshelf? I think he deserves quarters more like Kasumi's, bar or not. I definitely think he'd have a bunch of dry technical manuals though. I'd have to give him a good novel for a present. :D

The topic is viable, let's run with it! :wizard: hehe
Any other great philosophers he'd find interesting?
(and Sun Tzu was a warlord too yes?)

Sun Tzu was a brilliant strategist. I think Garrus would appreciate his warfare tactics.

Oh great, now the Garrus sexual deviancy is even weirding out the Tali thread. They said they can't compete with us anymore, good job. XD

He might like military biographies (not necessarily turian. He'd probably know of the "big ones" in human history, like Napoleon and Patton). As for philosophers... I don't think he'd really go for too many of them (besides the aforementioned Sun Tzu). Turians seem to be more "doers" than "thinkers" as a whole.

They appear to have staged a magnificent come back.

Too much Jacob, not enough Garrus...where is the justice I tell ya?

I think it was a case of Bioware betting on the wrong horse really. Judging by the amount of dialogue, the varied options during dialogue, the physical intimacy shown, the post mission scene and the infamous "tone" femshep uses during conversation, well, it's painfully obvious Bioware assumed he would be the popular pick of the male romances.  Maybe they thought he would be a male Miranda? The lads were very appreciative of her so maybe they thought we'd react the same way about Jacob? "He takes his shirt off AND he has tight buttocks! What more do we need!" Image IPB.

It’s very funny how bad his reception was though, really, it was an epic fail beyond belief, even non-femshep players disliked the guy. This is because he seems to be the only character that is disliked in ALL aspects. For people  that didn’t like Kaiden for example, there were people who loved his romance, and for people who didn’t like his romance there were people that found him useful as a squad mate. Jacob, didn’t have this and he seems to be unique in that regard, his romance was poorly written and embarrassing, his character lacked any charm or interest and he was the least useful squad mate.  His problem was that he lacked any redeeming features.

It’s sad too, everything went downhill for the guy when you speak to him for the first time on the Normandy, before that, I genuinely thought he was cool , mysterious and he had potential but even now I STILL won't talk to him because I never want to hear  "I thought we could talk for a bit" again. Isn't it ironic that the Male romance with the MOST content and attention given to it is the most ignored?  While the “fan service” romance, resonated so well with its players and is arguably the most popular femshep romance in ME2? I hope this support will give Garrus an equal amount of dialogue in ME3 next time round and also show Bioware that his romance means a lot to the fans. I’d really hate for them to not put effort in because they don’t “get it” you know? Even if the personal opinion of the majority of the staff think the reaction to Garrus is “weird” they shouldn’t use that as an excuse not to animate affectionate scenes or give his dialogue proper attention.
