@Nilf: I'm sure there are plenty that we don't see, but it would still be nice to have another conversation with them where you can discuss that. Of course, I think it all boils down to me wanting more Garrus dialogue - preferrably some that doesn't hinge on being in an active romance (because then more people get to enjoy more awesome Garrus stuff).

Maybe the lack of "How have this couple of years treated you?" conversation is because Garrus and Tali actually worked with Shepard, and know what Shepard is capable of (and therefore asking about that would show a lack of confidence rather than actual concern).

The other possibility I'm thinking is... Well, Shepard has been dead all this time. They know about it. Maybe they could ask about how was he/she feeling about the outcome of the situation (Cerberus, resurrection and so), but still, I got the feeling from what I saw that their confidence in Shepard goes beyond having to ask such things. They trust Shepard, and that's it.

Everyone assumes that Shepard is a mute dummy puppet that Cerberus is manipulating. My FemShep wants to paragon-interrupt everyone to say that she DOESN'T want to work with Cerberus...

I've been replaying Jade Empire recently, and one nifty thing they have is the camp dialogue that was between a few of the Followers. I wished they had something like that in ME (and DA:O, since the only hint of it is during with the dog at camp), possibly in the common messes area of the Normandy (doesn't anyone eat on the Normandy?)

Well, you do have the random Cerberus grunts discussing how bad/good Gardner's food is, the random pilots talking, the 2 people in the dorms, and Ken and Gabby. Still, those aren't your squaddies.

@ Mentatzoee: They might trust Shep as a leader, but they're also her/his friends, more so than any of the other squaddies. My Shep would definitely like to know that her friends care about how she feels every once in a while Image IPB

Yeah, I know... :( What a waste of potential squad banter. No need for cinematic screens, just dialogue would be good. Like Tali and Garrus complaining about the lack of food choices, more Miranda and Jack tension. I got the feeling that everyone is so anti-social aboard the Normandy... D:

I blame the scale itch *glaring at a particular NPC*

I refuse to believe he couldn’t have gone after Sidonus himself had he chosen to. He was a C-Sec officer – a good one, by all accounts. Plus. he basically waged a one man war against a merc army for days. He can’t hunt down one turian he already has a lead on? He needs Shepard’s help – again: IMO - for more of an emotional support than a tactical one. He just can’t say that and s/he doesn’t need him to.

While I agree that he needs Shep there for moral support, he couldn't have hunted Sidonis down himself because he simply didn't have the time to do it. When Shep finds him, Sidonis has just betrayed him: he still has his teammates' body bags in the base. He probably literally got back from his failed meeting with Sidonis, watched the 2 survivors die, put the corpses into the body bags and then had to defend himself against the merc assault: he couldn't even dispose of the bodies. And then Shep recruited him after that, so he obviously couldn't just go off after Sidonis without warning anybody. He did find the lead on his own though, but he at least had to tell Shep about it before going anywhere. Obviously though, he preferred having her along, for both moral and logistical (read: bullet) support.

It was hunting him after getting the lead that I was talking about. Before then he was just trying to stay alive (actually, not even that. He was trying to take as many mercs with him as he could), then he was on the Reaper hunt with Shep. But after he gets the lead on Sidonus, he could have easily just gone after him alone: had Shep drop him at the citadel or some other spaceport. He activly involves Shepard in his revenge, and to me that is a very personal thing.

So… I guess what I was trying to say is that you could choose to read the imbalance between the Jacob and Garrus romances as speaking to how the character feels about that particular relationship, rather than simply a misjudgement on BW’s part.

It's true that the two romances are hugely different in terms of how Shep approaches them, but I think the main hangup isn't so much the way the Jacob romance is orchestrated (although Shep's sleazy come-ons are certainly part of the ick factor), but the fact that it has more screentime than Garrus' romance. Garrus doesn't get a post-SM romantic moment, he gets very few romance convos as is. Now, it's true that I don't know how many convos Jacob gets, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were more. I mean, you can already hit on him before his LM. And Thane also gets copious amounts of convos, more so than Garrus.

Oh, I know. It's woefully inadequate. I was just trying to make sense of the inbalance with regards to character, so we feel less shafted. lol Image IPB

Also, I'm curious to know how we've weirded out the Tali thread...I haven't seen anything shockingly deviant on here lately. The deviant stuff is back in Clan V., no?

Someone (not one of the Talimancers) said we had weird sexually fantasies and posted a link to this thread to the page where the mutant babies pic was posted... and of course didn't mention that pic got burnt down immediately. DO NOT WANT MUTANT BABIES. I tell you, that damned pregnant Shep pic is nothing but trouble!

I think the NSFW thread has more joke pictures (okay, I admit my crazy mind spawned most of them) than actual NSFW pictures, haha.

Yeah, it's nice to imagine they talk more, but we just want to see it. Three conversations for a non-romancing femShep/bromance is not enough. More interaction is very welcome. Playing DA:O spoiled me a lot. Your companions there have so many things to talk about. Garrus and Shep are buddies now, there has to be something they can talk about. There's more in the galaxy than calibrations!

Garrus and Shepard and Tali and Shepard have some catching up to do, damn it. Hell, you get a line or two with WREX on catching up... but that's about it.
Nyar...
Anywhoodle, random thought brought on by Janey's WoT

The time line for the ambush on Archangel seems very rushed.
Sidonus leads him away
Team is killed
Garrus comes back to find last two squaddies dying.
Attack commences
Attack is long.
Shepard shows up.
Shepard helps Garrus defeat the mercs.
But not before Garrus takes a ROCKET TO THE FACE.

So... he left his friends behind? In the body bags? What happened to them? What happened to that base?
Rites for the dead and all that aside... you'd think he'd want to make sure their remains were taken care of? At least so that rest of Omega doesn't parcel out pieces of the Archangel squad (wow I think I just grossed myself out there -.-)

Thoughts?

Their remains most likely got left behind.

I imagine Shep + co. were in a hurry to get Garrus out of there for medical treatment.

Kinda sad, really.

Interesting that you brought that up. What happened to that base? Since we killed the mercs, it's now safe. But what was that base supposed to be in the first place? And have other peeps found the remains of the dead bodies? If not, then I don't want to know what it smells like over there.

Plus, I mean, Garrus may have been just colorful in his language, or maybe they did go back, but during your Paragon'ing convo in the car during his LM (after roughing up Harkin):

"Why should he go on living while ten good men lie in unmarked graves?"

Either way... I kinda wish we got to see a bit of that... maybe, ya know? (/insane curiosity over the rest of the Archangel squad fully engaged.)

I still want a spin off Archangel game where you play as Garrus.

Definitely a good point.

Come to think of it, where would you even bury someone on Omega? It really doesn't look like there's much room for anything on that station. I would've suggested that they'd maybe have switched to cremation in the future, but Garrus does actually say "lie" and "graves".

...Here's a thought.

We know that you didn't wipe out ALL the Blue Suns/Eclipse/Blood Pack during the LM. Maybe one of the angry remaining members blew up the base in rage after you'd left? Heck, maybe they even tried to do it while the team was still waiting for pickup with wounded Garrus (cue lots of panic). Convenient way of creating an "unmarked grave" type situation.

Because, if Garrus did go back for the bodies, I can't see him leaving them in unmarked graves.

Is anyone worried that they'll continue to be biased in ME3 because they don’t “get” why Garrus is the female favourite ? Even if the personal opinion of the majority of the staff thinks the reaction to Garrus is “weird” they shouldn’t use that as an excuse not to animate affectionate scenes or give his dialogue proper attention. Have there been any inteviews about the reaction to the Garrus romance and Bioware's thoughts about it?

I think they probably viewed it as the "novelty" romance at first, throwing a bone for the Garrus lovers’ even if they didn't understand it themselves. For first time Mass Effect players who never got to know Garrus, they would have probably looked at the guy and thought  "WTF! why would you romance that???" so I think that's also why Jacob was more focused on rather than Garrus, Garrus was Bioware being generous to its fan base while Jacob was the "sane" default option for female players, he's human and good looking so of course more girls would like him the most right? I don't think they predicted this would happen, as we all have said, judging by the unequal romance, they DID think Jacob would be the most popular. I would like to know what they think about;

1.The fan's reaction to Jacob
2.The femshep player's reaction to his romance
3.Garrus being the most poular ME2 romance for femsheps
4.Our questions why Garrus didn't get the same amount of attention in terms of dialogue and romance compared to other characters[/list]

Grave doesn't necessarily mean a literal grave. When somebody dies at sea it's often referred to as a "watery grave", that sort of thing. The concept of a grave often just means place of death or wherever their body ended up, which may or may not actually be a hole in the ground. Combined with the fact that we don't actually know what Turian funeral practices are, and how translators might just pick the closest equivalent, it's hard to say that he's actually talking about a literal grave.

I guess, yeah. I was probably just picking up on the association between "grave" and "lying". But you could probably perfectly well put "here lies X" on a cremation urn.

@ Hyrule_Gal: I think BW has a pretty good track record of listening to fans though. They did make both Garrus and Tali LIs due to overwhelming fan response, after all. So while they may still have attempted to cater to the "sane", as you put it, by pimping up Jacob's romance, the epic phail it encountered should probably make them think about it. I can't remember which of the developers it was now who was saying that he was impressed by the fact that Garrus' romance scene was such a popular subject of fanart, that it showed how much power that scene had for people. I find it hard to believe that they'd completely disregard that, TBQH.

Then again...*looks at Awakening and its non-returning squaddies* Image IPB
