I admit I have no evidence whatsoever to suggest the fringe is movable. I just like that idea. I really don't think it is completely rigid however, even if they can't spread it out. I think in that case, it would be like your nose. You can't flex it, but if you prod it, it gives a little. And the clipping on the pillow there is just lack of editing I think as the hump on his back and his leg spurs also gouge into the bed.
And I kinda agree with you on the he sits as well. I just read something the other day where someone mentioned some cut and past type stuff regarding male LIs, how they sit like the female LIs there and ever since then I can't get that out of my head. I had rather I didn't read that because I thought it looked pretty cool before. I guess I am just too impressionable. The main thing I don't like is the way his legs are crossed. I wish he had his foot on his knee or something. Turians look cool when they sit like. And no, this has nothing at all to do with my weird thing for leg spurs.
Well, I suppose there's a certain logic in having a flexible fringe. It's a tactical thing- if it were rigid, it would be more of a vulnerability when a turian is fighting. Like human women pulling each others' hair (hmmm....I wonder if a piece of broken-off fringe would grow back?) to inflict pain. And if the rest of the face, especially the "mouth plates" are rather flexible (mmmmm...), then it would be possible that the entire face is plated with a sort of "hard cartilage". Still, I second the "animators just didn't bother" concept.
Hey, I also just replayed ME1 recently and there's a turian on the Citadel sitting similar to Garrus in Shep's quarters. His ankle is resting on his opposite knee, and he's facing straight rather than twisting. And yes, I think it's hot.
