I remember one of my favorite battle couple cover moments ever was on an early playthrough on that big long bridge on Thane's LM. There is a raised platform in the middle of the bridge that is excellent for sniping. My infiltrator climbed up on it and then Garrus climbed up next to her. I took out the rocket launcher on the left, he got the one out on the right, and then we nailed all the mercs on the ground. It was epic. I have been wanting something like that to happen again but it never has unless I manually tell him ho climb up, but it just ain't the same....

This is either hilariously pathetic or pathetically hilarious, but it never hit me that Garrus could even use an assault rifle in ME1 until about 2 days ago. XD

Not only can he use an assault rifle but he can be a regular krogan charging, kill stealing crazy man if you level him right. By game's end with certain pieces of armor his shielding is so good it's sick. Same with Tali. Unfortunately, his shielding and initial armor are really weak when you first recruit him so he dies a lot early on which means a lot of people get tired of him and stop bringing him. If you stick with it though, he is awesome as a tank. I just finished a ME1 playthrough last night and I had Garrus with crazy good shielding and a super maxed out SPECTRE assault rifle. He was pretty scary.
@Andaius
Thanks. I get warm, fuzzies just thinking about it.

And needless to say, I'm not one of those people who's going to leave him behind to fix the Mako the whole time!

On topic, Garrus and my Shepard never had any awesome battle couple moments. Most of the time, I don't even know where he is when I'm giving the power commands. The only time he's behind cover next to Shepard is when I put Shepard next to him, and sometimes he leaves. My Shepards have had a few awesome battle moments, and I can only remember a few from other squadmates, but none from Garrus unless I commanded it.

Good advice Raga. I will try getting him a better rifle too. I think we're all something like level 24 or something right now.

You have to dump a lot of points into first aid before it unlocks electronics on him and electronics is what ups his shielding. A lot of people don't bother with that because it takes forever. Also, his best armor is kinda rare. I usually buy him armor from vendors because finding really good turian armor in the field is kinda hit and miss. Same with krogan armor.

I should try that, since MaleShep will be going for a third NG+. I might as well max out some more skills while he gets to level 60.Ragabul the Ontarah wrote...

I know they got rid of most of that stuff in ME2, but I always loved spending 15 minutes selling and buying things and outfitting everyone. I still love it. I love ME2 as well; it's just a very different kind of game is all.
I like mircomanagement. It has never bothered me. The problem with the ME1 system was that you simply found too much crap. You max out loot way too early in the game. By the time I get to Virmire I usually start reducing 90% of everything I get to omni-gel because I am maxed out on credits and unless I find something with better stats than what I already have, there is no sense keeping it. I like the ME2 system as well, but I didn't necessarily think Bioware needed to gut the whole system from ME1 to fix it. It just needed some balancing. I am glad they did what they did though so I'm sure I'd want them to take it back. ME2 is awesome in almost every way, mining minigame aside.

I love when this happens. I was playing my Adept femshep the other day and got a little too cocky during Jack's loyalty mission. I stupidly charged at the Krogan in red armor and he had nearly killed me before mysteriously falling over. From behind me I hear someone say "Scoped and Dropped".

I much prefer the ME2 system, especially for Shepard's armor.

I can never find armors that are the right colors, but that's probably because I'm just buying the ones with the best stats (unless it's Phoenix armor - I won't make the men wear it). I'll have to memorize some of the names before the next time I play. Garrus' armor should have blue in it! xD I think I found armor that might have been blue/silver before I started my replay though, and I had Tali's Colossus armor too. Now that I'm going back to where I left off right before Ilos, I guess I should have the right armors for them. I just can't find one with some red for MaleShep, but white/gray camo looks pretty good on him.

I agree, I really like being able to choose armor colour/pattern, and I like messing around with it between missions (for example my femshep looks like iron man right now with red and gold Kestrel armor plus helmet).
However I miss being able to dress my squaddies. I remember a certain set of yellow and black armor in ME1 that Garrus wore for the longest time cause it was the best in my inventory. He wore it for so long in fact that I grew attached to it and nicknamed it the "Bumblebee Armor". And who doesn't miss dressing Wrex in Phoenix Armor just for the heck of it.

And yes, Garrus has saved me more than once with sniping. I love it when that happens. I think overall the friendly AI in ME2 is actually pretty good. It's certainly better than say Halo's where friendlies last all of about two minutes and run over you with warthogs and such. I still say Uncharted has some of the best friendly AI even though it doesn't do much damage. It is mostly there for decoration but it doesn't get in your way or feel silly like the Arbiter constantly getting shot in the butt and the like.
Another great battle couple moment I had was in DAO with Alistair. I was on Shale's mission in Cadesh Thaig when we got jumped by an ogre. I was pretty beaten up and the ogre snatched up my warden and started with that nasty punching animation that you can't break from. Anyway, that's when Alistair did that kill animation where he leaps and bowls over the ogre before stabbing it in the face effectively saving my Warden. That was pretty awesome as well.

I would have liked the weapons to have stats though. It's a little confusing without them.
@Andaius: I'll do that the next time I'm going to play, or bring the laptop to the Xbox. Medium Silverback might be the one I have, so that would be good.

The AI is definitely better than ME1 though. I remember many deaths as a result of Wrex and Garrus running in front of me and completely blocking my field of vision, and I can still hear Garrus yelling "Not now Shepard" when all I want to do is take cover.
PS: Love your Avatar.

I've had a few problems with squadmates running in Shepard's line of fire in both games. Jack stood right in front of my MainShep when she was shooting the Human Reaper with a Collector Particle Beam... and I didn't want to adjust my aim, so I let Shepard just kept shooting. xD She yelled at me for it, but it was her own fault. Who jumps into a beam of light, anyway?jellobell wrote...
