I have noticed this. Obviously asari and turians are at very opposite ends of the spectrum of aesthetics. Asari are soft, supple, female in appearance and typically have an overtly feminine demeanor. Turians are hard, sharp, male in appearance (since we don't see any females) and typically have an overtly masculine demeanor. Obviously there are a lot of people that like both, but I think it makes sense why they'd be polarizing, since the two races are pretty much polar opposites.Neria Rose wrote...
Ugh, made the mistake of dropping by that thread regarding whether or not anyone hates Garrus. Ever notice it's almost always a Liara lover who does?
Anyway, good to be back in friendly waters.
I'm one of those turian fans that also happens to really dislike asari, but I'm not sure how connected that is since I like pretty much every other race but asari. I agree with everything Neria Rose said about the asari, except I don't actually hate Liara, I just found her boring. I just hate that they made a point to call them 'non-gendered' but then made no effort to make them androgynous. It seemed like an obvious excuse for the typical male lesbian fantasy.
That said, Samara really grew on me. I respected the fact that (despite dressing like a ****) she did actually refrain from using her sexuality to get what she wanted.. Maybe because she didn't have a lot of screentime.
But yeah. Anyhoo, back to turians, I like them but I'm not 'YAY IT'S A TURIAN!' whenever one is on-screen. I think most of them are interesting but Garrus and Nihlus are the only ones where I really gush over how cool they are.
Honestly I'm not even that into quarians but I was all, 'Ooooo, quarians!' whenever one showed up since there was just Tali in ME1. I just like it when the 'lesser' races have more exposure considering how many humans, asari and krogan we see running around. That said, Palaven for ME3!
EDIT: Ack! I hate it when I'm typing a response and fail to notice a subject change. Sorry guys, I fail. ._.;;;
