And still he says he'll be there if Shepard needs him. D: That's so sad. I've turned down squadmates before (in Dragon Age, not Mass Effect), but I wouldn't make any of my Shepards leave him behind. It just wouldn't be the same without my favorite squadmate along.Ragabul the Ontarah wrote...
I happened to have a savegame right before that. Shep says "I don't want you on this mission" and he says "I'll be here if you change your mind" in a sorta disappointed way. There's also a mean response of "I don't need a turian shooting me in the back" to which he says "All turians are not the same. I'm not like Saren." After then if you talk to him again he says "Commander Shepard, have you reconsidered? Do you want me to come with you?" and the conversation is the same as before.
...Just out of curiosity, is Garrus really waiting if Shepard comes back later? Because that would be awesome.
I never would have realized that they have individual spirits too unless you pointed that out. Also, that snippet about spirits is kinda interesting to me because it means that turians do believe in individual spirits as well as "group" spirits. And it seems like there might be some kind of formal ceremony in which a single spirit is added or "commended" to a group spirit of a turian's legion. It's pretty interesting. What would you call that? Miniature pantheism mixed with some Buddhism? But Buddhist (so far as I can tell) don't believe in a literal "spirit" at least not by the Judeo-Christian definition of the term anyway.
Also if a turian was part of multiple groups, which group is his spirit "commended" to upon his death? The group he was in when he died? So Garrus for instance if he died on the SM. Would a turian consider his spirit to become part of the Normandy team's spirt, part of his old legion's spirit, or both?
Yeah, I think it would become part of the Normandy's/Shepard's team's spirit if he died. That's where Garrus' spirit always wanted to be when he was alive. (And that's how Garrus will always be in my games - alive. He's one of the squadmates who will never get killed off in my playthroughs.)
I'm not sure... I've read the book, and I even have another favorite character added to the list now. He wouldn't be very popular in this thread though. xDAre we at a stage where we can openly discuss Retribution spoilers now? I still need to dig up the book thread in Clan V, but I am so late to the party I figured anything worth saying has probably already been said by somebody else.

You guessed right. xD (Come on, BioWare - Kai Leng for ME3 squadmate! I know I probably won't be getting Saren.)

Thats not even close to why I find it scary.Kim Shepard wrote...
Shepard #4 is tough enough to handle it. He's faced death so many times (Colonist/Sole Survivor), dextro romance won't scare him off.
Watch the film and see why.

I am more voting for Kai Leng as target practice, and Anderson for squaddie.
I agree with Kai Leng as target practice.
I think Anderson should just be on the Normandy again. Like an advisor.

I probably like more "Renegade" characters than anyone in the Garrus thread. xD Interesting, since Garrus tends to be Renegade. I guess it's because being a "compassionate Renegade" makes him more of a Renegon, maybe even Paragade.

And I can't really comment on the piranhas thing safely outside the NSFW thread, but let's just say, turian biology is a little more adaptive than that.

I think both would be great - Anderson for the Shepards who quit Cerberus, and Kai Leng for the Shepards who stayed with Cerberus. But I already said this in another thread.
That idea would be really interesting. It made me wonder if they would do that for ME3 with ME2 squad, because there is far too many squaddie choices.
But if they go that way, Garrus would need to be recruited no matter what consequence (unless he was killed off in your SM)

Yeah, I don't like the turian hate... but I like his hate for other aliens, so it would seem weird if there was only one alien species he didn't hate, and it makes sense because of the First Contact War. That kid who called Kai a badass was so right. I wonder how MainShep would manage to have him and Saren both on the Normandy at the same time. She and Kai would talk about being disgusted by asari flirting. Then she would flirt with Saren and Kai would get disgusted. Then they can all talk about batarian hate together and bond over that.
A turian who hates turians... interesting. I have a Shepard who hates most humans, so that could work.
@Alexine: I've always liked the idea of Shepard choosing who will be on the team, probably because there are a few squadmates that I want Shepard to tell "no, you can't come." Maybe there could even be options to leave them behind because they can do a lot of good elsewhere (like Wrex with the krogan), or take them along because Shepard thinks they'll be able to help more with him/her. Certain squadmates staying/joining/leaving Shepard based on decisions would be good too, like Kai Leng and Anderson only joining based on Shepard's alliance.
I think Garrus will always stand by Shepard. He trusts Shepard, enough that he doesn't care about working with Cerberus. Garrus shouldn't have to be recruited - he should still be on the team.

Kim Shepard wrote... I've been wondering what Garrus says to Saracino.......
@Aricle: Saren screenshot! Is that a grin on his face? It's hard to tell with turians, but... he really looks like he's grinning down at Shepard right there.
Kim: This is the pic I was going to post for you originally and since you mentioned a grin, here it is. This may not be an actual grin but it sure feels like being on the receiving end of one, an evil one. A lot of it is in his eyes. Saren's mouth structure is odd with all of those teeth showing on both sides. Also, his body, with the tubing on his suit (or is it going into his body- has he been modified that much?), which reminds me of the husks and/or geth.

As far as the Charles Saracino conversation, Shepard met up with Mr. Saracino last night as it happens and I made a vid. I'll post a link when it's uploaded. Garrus does have a lot to say. I'm glad I learned that he had a lot to say, who to bring with him to have him talk and remembered to do it, to get that result. There are so many little notes to self about different things to look for in these games floating around here!

He does always look like he's grinning because of the faceplates around his mouth. I've been wondering if he was born with them like that, or if the lack of faceplates around his teeth were the result from some sort of accident. He has implants on both mandibles that are still there on the cover of Revelation, so they aren't Sovereign implants. It's sad to think that they might be working like Garrus' new implants, holding his face together, because I think they look cool. His eyes were like that before Sovereign too, different from other turians.
Awesome, my posts are convincing more people to like Saren... like Sarendoctrination. The more people read pro-Saren stuff, they start to like him. xD

Ha, you'll never convert me into a believer. I will be anti-Saren until my death!
And since I'm still young, I will hate him for many years to come.
