I was meh on Saren..

Until he whooped that Batarian.

Hopefully the Batarians get some exposure, and not get turned into the Vorcha.

Bloody space goblins who know my tricks...

@kglaser: Like I said, everyone probably has different definitions of "completely evil." I consider the batarian completely evil, and Saren "evil with standards." I think we can both agree that he's "awesome evil" though. :)

I agree that he's Awesome Evil ™, but now I'm afraid to re-read the book and discover he's not as evil as I first thought.  That's the whole reason I love him! :P

I think it's the same Saren we remember, just different versions of evil. I guess I need to find a special trope for that batarian and characters like him. If Saren was like that, I wouldn't like him, but he hates people like that, so I like him even more. xD Make sense? Saren is evil without going over the line - batarian slavers being an example of "over the line."

@Giggles_Manically: Does that mean you think Saren beating up the batarian was a good thing or a bad thing?

I thought the Batarian got what he deserved.
And yes thats pretty much the only scene where I agree with Saren.

Sorry to change from current topic, but I just went to Virmire so took Kaidan on a final last-minute series of Citadel elevator rides to see what he said to everyone. (He's unfortunately going to die in this PT.)

Garrus gave him a compliment about his biotics. Anyone hear that conversation? It made me smile. :)

There was a part on the Mass Effect wiki that had all the conversations.

Got taken down though...

I actually wanted to see that.

I still have a save...I could post it up if you wanted to see it. I also got conversations out of Ash (asking how his headaches were) and Tali (about the geth). Wrex didn't have anything to say.

Then we both agree with Saren there. I just agree with him a lot more. xD

@kglaser: The conversation where Garrus says that turians would use the L2 implants because of the "power spikes" even if they cause headaches? That's the only one I know of, and I haven't even heard it in-game.

No, he said something about how Kaidan's biotics were very impressive, and he'd rarely seen better. Kaidan replied that he's usually holding back when he uses his powers but after Eden Prime he won't anymore.

Garrus: Your biotics are impressive, Lieutenant. I’m surprised that humans stopped using the L2 configuration with results like yours.

Kaidan: My headaches can be pretty bad, and I’m one of the lucky L2 implants. The L3’s are safer.

Garrus: Humanity will be judged by the sacrifices its people are willing to make, Lieutenant. The Turians would have kept the L2 implants.

In the one I heard, implants were not mentioned at all.

And yes Collider, any that you are kind enough to post would be greatly appreciated!! :D

I've never seen that one either. The one Collider posted is the conversation I read about.

I want to see a turian with their own biotic implants now. (Judging from Revelation and Retribution, it's likely that Saren's implants are from Sovereign.) I wonder what kind of side-effects they have, if the turians would consider those "sacrifices" acceptable.

I think the turians would be stoic about it, but I feel that Kaidan is, too.

I wonder how powerful turian biotics can be. From the way it sounds, humans have a high curve of difference. That fits with what Mordin says about human genetic diversity. We have everything from Jack who is near as powerful as an asari Matriarch down to people who can barely levitate cups. The turians would be more uniform in their abilities I think. I just wonder if they tend to spike higher or lower than the average human. I would actually guess lower, but I don't really know why.

I believe I read that Turians aren't particularly strong biotics.

Codex says turian biotics are rare enough that turians are generally suspicious of them, and they get put to work for their government service period in "cabals".  Not as punishment, just a special tour of duty.

When my kids give my PC back I want to post that turian biotic picture stephi likes. XD
It would be so, so cool to have a random turian biotic enemy in ME3 (like we had a random turian scientist in ME1, LOL)

edit: here ya go.  Love it!

Wow, this post is messed up and I can't fix it.  Whee! :wizard::P
Anyway, that was (supposed to be) just another cute little picture.  I'll look for the other one in a few.

The ME Wiki goes a bit further and states that Turians are generally on par with a human L3, but doesn't mention where that information came from. Suppose it can be inferred based on Garrus's comment to Kaidan that his biotics were very impressive and the Turians would have kept the L2 implants because of it.

I found this snippet from the codex interesting: "Turians have 27 citizenship tiers, beginning with civilians (client races and children). The initial period of military service is the second tier. Formal citizenship is conferred at the third tier, after boot camp. For client races, citizenship is granted after the individual musters out."

It refers to client races in the plural which implies the turians have more than just the volus as a client race. It also means some of those races serve in the turian military. I wander where the volus factor into that. Volus in boot camp? That would be hilarious. Support positions for them most likely, but I wonder what those other client races might be and if we will hear about them in the future.

Ha, I can see Niftu Cal in ME3, walking around and claiming to be an official turian citizen. Imagine the dialogues XD

Good morning everyone. It's friday and the weekend is near. I will hopefully be able to keep up with the thread over the weekend xD

Saren is indeed awesomely evil. Still, I always got that impression from him that he was really convinced that he was doing the right thing. And that he had a sadistic streak.

As for Batarians: I would like to have some more evil Batarians, but I wouldn't mind having a "good" Batarian on Shep's side as well. I liked that Forvan actually had a reason to poison humans. Somehow I never bothered asking for it and just discovered it on my current playthrough.

Also Mordin says something about Vorcha as well.
