As many little ficlets/instances I get in my head and as much potential dialogue as I post here, I should probably just give up and write some fanfic, shouldn't I?
Come to the darkside. We have smut.
Yeah but I don't write smut (and I'll admit it, I've read quite a bit of it in Garrus fics and most of it strikes me as either ridiculous or just... completely tasteless--I'm just not a porn person, I'm afraid--with very little of it actually having enough non-porn substance to merit my having read it) and those novels I'm planning would never get written if I started in on fanfiction.
Although I did want to write a short fic about my main Shep, Julia, dealing with nightmares about what she'd done on Torfan. It would involve her disturbing poor Garrus's sleep. I think Erica's a stronger person than Julia (though not as nice of one). If she'd been through Torfan she wouldn't just tell herself it was what she had to do. She'd know it bone-deep in her soul and her reaction would be, rather than to immerse herself in guilt, to keep going for the sake of her deceased squad. Celeste... Celeste is too busy with her head in the clouds pretending that the world is a nice place and everybody deserves a second and third chance at life. Torfan would have broken her. And though she's my pure paragon I'm reasonably sure that her sanity will have to break by the time I get her to ME2... And let's not even get into my planned pure renegade (Earthborn/ruthless) or my planned xenophobic jerk who's otherwise a paragon (colonist/war hero anyone? Lots of reasons to hate aliens, but he'll get past it... after he meets the human Council) or any other variant I may attempt.
But wait, what was I saying? Right. I should probably avoid fanfiction-writing. Yeah.
And re to Stephi: That guy's OCs might've been roleplaying characters. You never know. I have several ME OCs I RP and one non-ME OC I plan to someday write a story about whom I could reasonably fit into a fic as an original alien race, if I didn't mind killing her off for the sake of the story.

Steph's the Akuze survivor. That's left it's scars... but she's the tough one. The street fighter.
Elle... man I LOVE this new Shepard. My squeakie clean Paragon goody two shoes who fell head over heals for Kaiden... and then died... her biotics removed... and feels like she's more machine than woman now?
Oh yea. I really like screwing with her. Heeee (is a mean person.)
And just fic for the hell of it! Do it when you're unwinding from real writing. Do it when you can't get in on that Great Big Novel.
Do eet because deep down... you totally want to.
(Or not, I'm just getting a bit nuts from reading this really bad story OMG /cries)

Xenophobic-Shep will probably ultimately romance Tali, after romancing Ash and Miranda. Like I said he'll get over the xenophobia, but I don't think it will have done him any favors.
My Garrus Sheps are Julia (who romanced Kaidan first and got her heart broken by his lack of faith in her) because she gets that he feels as guilty as she does and maybe they can lean on each other, and Erica, because she's totally renegaded him and they have similar morality in the first place. Which is to say they both waver between renegade and paragon, and somehow I can't see Erica not chasing him. Well, if she can be convinced that anybody's interesting at all. She's sick of listening to people ramble on about their problems. Except for Ash, because she's a Colonist/Sole Survivor and it's kind of nice to hear what a family would be like. (And because Ash has sisters, Erica Virmired Kaidan.)
But yeah, Julia's a paragon but not a perfect one. She's overwhelmed by guilt, but sometimes does renegade things anyway because she feels they need to be done. I dunno if I could come up with anything to write a fic about her with though. For me, there needs to be either character development or plot involved, and preferably both. I just can't bring myself to revisit the in-game plot.

What, are you reading Twilight re-written with Mass Effect characters or something? Shepard as Bella, Kaidan as Edward, Garrus as Jacob and AUGH why did my mind go there?

... Because I'm pretty sure we all feel the same about Twilight here, I guess I'll share this silly parody.
Shepard fills the role of Bella
Kaidan is Edward
Garrus is Best Friend Jacob
Anderson is Charlie, Hackett is Renee
The rest of the crew are the rest of the cast (Kasumi and Tali are both Alice, Miranda is Rosalie, which makes Jacob her hubby Emmett, Thane is Carlisle, Zaeed is Jasper, Donnelly is Mike, Kelly is Jessica, and so on).
Shepard> That man is hot. Who's he?
Kelly> Oh that's Kaidan. He's one of the Alliance soldiers.
Kaidan> *flirts with Shepard*
Shepard> You're cute. Let's date.
Kaidan> It would never work. You're hu--er, wait, my commander. Fraternization is bad.
Shepard> Love me anyway.
Kaidan> Okay.
Kasumi> I stole this dress for you. You should wear it. You never dress up.
Shepard> But I don't like dressing up.
Kasumi> You need to dress up because there is a party because I said so.
Shepard> Fine.
Kaidan> I love you.
Shepard> I love you, too. You're cute.
Kaidan> I don't like your friends.
Shepard> What friends?
Donnelly> Hey, Shepard, want to go out sometime?
Shepard> No.
Donnelly> Oh.
Kaidan> Hey, Shepard, I think we shouldn't do this dating thing anymore.
Shepard> No.
Kaidan> Okay.
*the ship is attacked*
Kaidan> I'm sorry but I have to leave. This fraternization thing is going to kill your reputation, Shepard. *gets on the pod*
Shepard> *goes catatonic because Kaidan left her, and is killed as a result*
... I guess there wasn't a need for the rest of the cast after all.

What... Why... I don't... What?
Your reaction was basically my whole response to Twilight. It boils down to: You're pretty. I like you. But you don't like me do you? You do? But now you're leaving so I'll go catatonic. But my best friend will be there for me and we'll fall in love but then you'll come back and I'll ditch him like a hot potato and I'll whine because I don't want to marry you and you'll control my life and vampires will vaguely come and not fight with us despite the fact that they're supposed to want to kill me, and then we'll somehow have a mutant hybrid baby who is the most perfect sweetest thing ever and everybody loves her and
Yeah. You see why I don't like Twilight and yet the sad thing is? Some of it could work with Mass Effect. If I were being more serious I actually could rewrite Twilight with ME characters, and it would actually be good because the ME cast actually has been developed. Although I definitely wouldn't give Shepard mutant babies...
And also I think Thane should be Jasper instead and Mordin is Carlisle. Doctor, you know.

And then the author realizes midway through the series that Jacob is more likable and cooler than Edward, so then she has him force kisses on Bella and act like a jerk so that the readers might possibly decide to like Edward again instead even though he takes the engine out of her truck so she can't go where she wants to and then threatens her with the engine parts.
... So yeah. Kaidan's the guy who's attractive, Garrus is the friend whose lifestyle and personality might mesh better (depending on the Shepard).
And yes, Blazen, the books are terrible. Do not read. I read them because I kept thinking something would happen, and then after I realized it wasn't going to, I figured I was halfway in and might as well see it through. But even the ending stunk. At least I can say I read them. And if Twilight's your thing, that's fine by me, but I personally prefer plot and characterization and romances that aren't based on control and dependency. I can't just tune out the problems to enjoy the series , though a lot of people can.

Never read Twilight - but its sounds like the Edward character is just a creepy manipulative stalker.
Changed it slightly. Edward even watches Bella when she sleeps but doesn't do anything, what?

I haven't read the Twilight series, but I did look it up on Wikipedia because I figured that would make for better reading. At least I could distract myself by hitting various hotlinks as I went along, distracting me from what I originally went there to read about. Anyway, I felt obligated to know something about it as I do all pop culture because I like to know my pop culture references.
It's become a losing battle because I'm a dilapidated android now.
I wonder out of all the squadmates from ME1 to ME2, which one was in the know of 22nd century pop culture references. Not just the human ones, too.
Probably Mordin.
