Also, I saw "new cybernetic eyes." Does the story have a theory about how he got them, or was that the only mention? I know, random detail, but I've been wondering about that. All we know is that he had those eyes before Sovereign because they're on the cover of Revelation, same with the jaw/mandible implants.

@kglaser: Thanks for posting the Saren scene here.
I think it's pretty good. It's amusing that "loud" was included in the list of things Saren told Nihlus about humans, because that's one of the things I imagine he thought about young MainShep. xD (She liked to run up to him shouting "Saren!" like an adorable little fangirl.) Kind of cool that the FemShep in the story uses a shotgun and likes to headbutt people too, and killed a krogan unarmed like Kai Leng.

Hi guys. Saren discussion again huh? I think that the cybernetics are perhaps the result of an accidnet of some sort, perhaps gained during the First Contact War. Or perhaps they may be that he just decided to get 'upgraded'.

It's the Sarendoctrination. xD
That would be my guess, that the implants were either from an accident or for the sake of improvements/looking cool. I don't think the jaw/mandible implants are for looking cool though. I've stared at a lot of close-up screenshots, and they really seem to be holding his face together. Poor guy.
I don't know for sure if Saren was in the First Contact War or not. The Wiki doesn't say.

Glad you liked the story excerpt, Kim. I *love* the headbutt part.
That chapter was the only mention of the eyes, or any other upgrades. There was just a brief discussion about Saren between Shep and Nihlus in the first part of the chapter after that, and that was it for the Saren stuff.

Yeah, I figured it wouldn't go into much detail. I'll just stick to my theory, that the "cool shiny metal" young MainShep compliments him on is from a battle injury. xD

The next chapter does have Nihlus saying that Saren handpicked him to be a Spectre when he was 20, but I never bothered to check whether the author made it up for the story or whether it matched the Wiki or whatever.

Well, Saren was the youngest turian Spectre ever at age 20. It doesn't give an age for Nihlus, but he would have to be older than that by the time he actually became a Spectre. If the training typically takes a few years, then sure, that could work.

I wonder when Saren got his geth arm. I think it was pre-indoctrination, but the cover of Revelation shows him without it. Strange that geth and turian hands are so similar that it could be interchanged like that. It was never designed as a prosthetic.

@kg wow that was good. I like the small insight you get into the relationship between the two turians, and yes love the head butt. I've found a few small non-smut pieces on the kink meme, but you have to look hard (looks sideways for fear of giving away too much information about her warped personality.)
My fave is one about Zaeed and his gun Jessie.

Garrus doesn't need fists or guns to win a fight. He just needs to glare.Collider wrote...

I think it's safe to assume that the geth arm and tubes going through his body were done by Sovereign during the indoctrination process. We know for sure that he only got them after he found out about Sovereign because, like you said, he doesn't have them on the Revelation cover.Timerider42 wrote...

As for why Sovereign wanted him to have a geth arm... I have no idea. All of the glowing implants and tubes inside his head and body make sense. But I can just imagine Sovereign saying that it doesn't have to make sense to us because the Reapers are beyond human understanding. xD

Screw Shepard. Cerebus should have used facial reconstruction to heal Garrus' scars all the way.

Unfortunately, healing turian faceplates probably doesn't work the same way as healing human skin, and I doubt Cerberus would use the time and money to get equipment to heal turians (no matter how many times my Shepard would bother TIM about it).

Garrus looks better with the scars.

I wonder if he'll eventually get metal implants to cover the damage like Saren. I think it's possible, but it's hard to tell how bad his injuries really are under the bandages.

I think Garrus' scars (and/or anything to cover them other than bandages) should be shown in ME3. It would help the growth/maturing of the character.

I agree. I hope they at least give him new fixed armor in ME3 (I don't have the DLC, so he's still wearing his broken armor painted in loyalty colors), so showing the scars or cybernetics could go along with that.
#9874
Posté 30 août 2010 - 06:48
I prefer the broken armor over the fixed one because it seems more fitting of his character.

I prefer the colors of his loyalty armor, but isn't it a little impractical to go into battle wearing broken armor? It's still a lot better than those outfits Jack and Miranda wear though. Some fixed armor in the loyalty colors and cybernetics near his scars would look awesome, in my opinion.
