Nice turian list.I've never heard some of those quotes. Does the C-Sec turian only say "I am not unreasonable!" if Shepard sides with the hanar? I haven't played a Shepard yet who sided with the hanar. xD
There's a video on YouTube that contains the "I am not unreasonable!" line:
www.youtube.com/watch
The owner of the video is playing a renegade, so he's pretty insulting to both the hanar and the turian. Check out the mandible-flaring on that guy when you diss him! But, he says he'll "learn from your example." Strikes me as a very East Asian thing to say
I've sided with both the turian and the hanar. Tough decision.

I don't mind the asari. I adore Aria and Samara and Aethyta. I like that they are diplomatic. I think, what Bioware is trying to pull off here is the "women wage less war than men do" theory. Of course, we know it's not true, but I like that there are the calm asari always trying to calm down the hot-headed turians and to rationalize with the logical salarians. I think that's pretty cool.
I actually like all species. I hope we get to see more unique batarians in ME3. That's actually still missing.
The turians are indeed surprisingly hotheaded in spite of being "disciplined." I still don't like the assumptions being made and propagated about women in the form of the asari, but yes, it is good that there's some group that generally takes a conciliatory approach to things.
I detest Aria, though. Insufferable hauteur! Very tempting not to give her that datapad. She does maintain a sensitive balance, though. Samara, I can't stand the outfit. But Aethyta ... is sheer awesomeness! I love how she kind of looks like a krogan.
The turians are not as blatantly "sexist" in concept, but given that we never meet explicitly female ones, it sometimes feels as if they, in contrast to the asari, stand for what human stereotypes present as the best features of masculine entities: noble, martial, loyal to the group, direct, and aesthetically pleasing by means of angles rather than curves. I wonder if that was intentional. The confirmed existence of female turians somewhat mitigates that stereotype, which is why I hope they'll introduce some actual females (who aren't distinguished by having stereotypical "female" traits like massive cleavage) or retcon things so that some of the ones we saw were actually women.

I'd like to see Garrus in the CG trailer for ME3. Would be epic.
I want them to give Tali, Samara, Garrus, Legion, and Jacob CGI trailers in the vein of the FFTL ones the other half got.

Hey, another friendly bump from the Ashley thread. Long live my Turian best friend Garrus and may he return in full awesome mode in Mass Effect 3.
May it be so! Here's to Garrus.
Where's that screencap from? Is it the Caleston demo video if you leave the main menu idle?

His mandibles flare out about as much as Li's, except Li does it after a compliment. It's adorable.

No, I think that's a screenshot from the trailer that plays at the beginning of ME1 if you take too long to start the game... but I've only seen it once or twice.mrsph wrote...

Hrm. I remember seeing a trailer somewhere where Garrus, Ashley, and Shepard are arguing and it ends with Shepard pulling a gun on Garrus and telling him something.
Might have been one of the other promo trailers.

OMG, I've never heard him say that, not even in the "betrayal" videos! He tries so hard to maintain his dignity .. awwww! Love his voice.
Looks like he has the same face patterns as the Preaching Hanar turian, too.

Oh my Jesus, that's just awful! He's not even angry at you, just... kind of defeated.
I usually play Renegades, but I never betray Lorik because I have such a soft spot for him. I was going to do it on my "Shepard-betrays-everyone" playthrough, but I think I'll skip it. Poor Lorik.
And yeah, it does look like Lorik's collar is much lower than other turians'. Which makes me wonder... If turians were real, and not game characters who all share the same character model, would there be a difference in their collars? We've seen several turians who have a really short fringe compared to others, mostly the white-skinned ones. Would the size of their collar depend on the region they came from, or something, like how most north Europeans are taller than people from southern Europe? Or maybe it has to do with age? Maybe the collar gets a bit soft and saggy?

Oh yes indeed... Probably 75% of the Garrus fics out there would be confounded if it were revealed as canon that Garrus' *equipment* did not involve Tab A / Slot B mechanics, of if worked like a mallard's, or like that of the Vasa Parrot...
I wonder how the Mordin smutfics deal with the whole cloaca thing?

Hey, that makes sense. I can't honestly picture the saggy thing, but race/ethnicity differences? Makes sense. I love it that they took the time to make different skin colors and fringe lengths.
Unless, of course, Lorik was just a fashion-forward turian wanting to create an artificial impression of a low collar. Sort of a turian equivalent of a bustle or something
