To be honest, I actually wept tears when I read about his mother. :'(

I read the donation letter before I read the chat with his sister, and I was filled with so much fuzzies and pride for Garrus that I didn't even think to question why he would do it.

Garrus! Please open up to me!

There is also a discouraging implication in the summary about Garrus that he'll never reach his full leadership potential while he's being overshadowed by Shepard. However, the Shadow Broker DLC gives me hope that they can sufficiently include a character even if they're not a permanent team member.

Oh no!  That really sounds like a hint that he might not be on the squad next time around.  Grr, my Shepard is *not* overshadowing him! :crying:   It's not like Garrus would sit still for a normal career while Shepard is out dealing with Reapers. But maybe after it's all over, they can both get jobs with normal hours on the Citadel or something ...

Not having Garrus around would feel like a Virmire.  Please don't take him out of my squad!

The asari Councilor's name is Tevos, popular fan opinion is that Velarn is the turian.

So it's basically "fanon," then?

Rather, I meant that no one here ought to care about getting spoiled about Garrus relevant goodness. :P Especially those like me who really played it more to 1) find out who the Shadow Broker is and 2) get any tiny bit of Garrus content I could. Though I was pleasantly surprised how much more I came to like Liara.

As for Garrus not being on the squad permanently- how things played out with Liara and getting her to be on your squad for a brief period, then being able to visit her for intel and have her visit your quarters was encouraging. Granted, I would *much* rather have Garrus onboard in ME3, but barring that, I'd settle for something similar to this DLC with some very definite romance closure thrown in.

Heck, with Liara (if you romanced her) they throw in a possible comment about the two of you living happily ever after once it's all done with- married, babies, et. al. Hopefully this bodes well for the other romances. *fingerscrossed*

I would be able to live with something like that for Garrus in ME3, although obviously having him with me for the whole game would be MUCH more preferable!

Yes, I felt bad for all the Liara shippers and I'm glad Bioware have taken steps to give them some of what they missed out on. Good to see that they're trying not to ruin our lives! Still, I could do without the drama of waiting for DLC Garrus. Garrus in ME3 squad and happily ever after, please!

Seriously? Wow, poor Garrus.

I'm annoyed that they would put that much content in a DLC because I won't be able to play it... but thanks for posting all of it here. :)

You know... Since Garrus is killable in ME2 there is a terrible possibility that he may only have a cameo in ME3. But by showing our apreciation as fans for Garrus, Mordin, Wrex and Tali we give the developers a financial incentive to find a way of making them possible squadmates.

But seriously: No Garrus in my squad means I may very well not buy ME3.

I wouldn't mind if they gave Garrus a role similar to Wrex's in ME2, only a little bit more active than just radiating badassdom from his throne. I do think Garrus will never be able to live up to his full potential if he plays right-hand man to Shepard. It's like Riker from Star Trek putting off promotion for a decade 'cause it was just great hanging out with Picard. Garrus is capable. He's a leader. Let him lead.

Good to read about Garrus's family relations.

I would have no problem with Garrus having a really respectable and awesome non-squaddie role in ME3. As I have said before, however, that does not mean "shows up for five minutes of exposition." I mean him in some role where he actually impacts the plot in a significant fashion ala Wrex and Liara. Those two have acceptable roles I think though I would want more dialog with Garrus than Wrex currently has. Something on the order of what they did with this DLC would be acceptable. I thought they did very well by Liara in this DLC. I found myself really liking her and this was also the first instance when I was actually struck by how pretty she is. Her eyes are kind of enthralling. So yea, my Liara is cool meter just went up quite a bit after this.

Anyway, not stopping in long. I'm kinda taking a break from the forums as they were eating up all my free time and keeping me from doing other stuff I really needed to be doing, but I couldn't resist stopping in and reading any spoilers I missed and dropping my two cents on the DLC. I really enjoyed it. I also like all the inside jokes in it. Bioware keeps dishing them out. It says they do pay plenty of attention to what goes on on the forums and they do care about fan feedback. They have consistently responded to fan opinions in positive ways. It makes me very happy.

They could do in ME3 what they did with LotSB, which is give us a critical mission with an old squadmate for an important aspect of the plot, then have that squadmate branch off to take care of the business.

QFT. I was fairly satisfied with the Liara interaction, and the banter was top-notch. This is the first DLC I've glady replayed immediately after finishing it the first time. If we could get something similar for Garrus, granted it would be inferior to having him as a more permanent squaddie, I'd be okay. In fact, now I am almost certain that most of the squaddies will get an equivalent "character episode" in ME3. I hope desperately that Garrus's takes us to Palaven. (Or Palavan, as the SB's database kept spelling it.)

However, a teamup at the end with the 2 favorite squaddies from anywhere within all 3 games is a must. If I cannot beat the game with Garrus and Tali in my squad as I have for the first 2 games in my "cannon" PT, I will be, in fact, disappoint.

He can't stay Shepard's subordinate forever and deserves to be trusted with more authority, but I'm thinking that that shouldn't necesarily mean he can't work alongside Shepard, at least until the main Reaper threat blows over - after all, there aren't a whole lot of other crews out there directly engaging this problem.  I think he'd want to come along.  I doubt he currently has the social and political capital to form a team that would have the backing of powerful government or rogue groups, and if, say, the turians were to form a task force and he joined it, he'd still be under someone else's command.

I also think that Garrus may benefit from another 60 hours of gameplay in Shepard's crew.  He's undoubtedly competent, but his recent activities may have left a bit of a questionable gap in his "resume" that might prevent him from being given the credence he deserves among his people, and personally I'd say he's still in a vulnerable spot in his process of sorting out what he believes and who he is.  He had his own  command and now feels like he screwed it up.  He's revisiting that in light of whatever you let him do with Sidonis and rebuilding his own assessment of himself and his values.  Much of the appeal of the loyalty quest and romance is Shepard affirming Garrus on an equal footing (even if you cannot support everything he does) and trusting him with the responsibility of making choices that affect other people.

Could be that he'll have mostly dealt with all the baggage between ME2 and ME3, but I'd like to give him more time with the team.

 Shadow Broker spoilers:

Reading the logs at the end, does anyone feel betrayed by Garrus? He transmitted Collector tissue (with Mordin's help) to outside party behind your back.

Not really, it was for a good cause and it is not like it hindered the mission in anyway.

What what? I really need to play the DLC. But now I'm busy with school and other games. I knew I should have done it during the summer. So lazy.

Related to LotSB, and asked about it in that thread, but figured I'd ask here too since you guys stay on top of the turian scene (and not sure how many Gavorn fans we've got in here)~

Without saying too much, Gavorn in LotSB? That one surveillance video with him sitting on the bed...Was that what I thought it was?
