If any turian that isn't Garrus is going to return for Mass Effect 3 I want it to be Li. I love that "joisey" accent he has.

Is *that* what the accent is?  Not being entirely from the States, I never could place it at all.

I've seen people call it a Jersey accent, but I never noticed that Li even had an accent. I still don't. xD His voice sounds different to me... but so do all of their voices.

Totally agree.  I just can't see either Shep or Garrus feeling particularly frisky, now.  Her crew's just been taken and he just found out his mother can't be treated.  So... go shag?   And frankly, comfort would take a bit more than 2 hours.

And if it's after... what, there was nothing more than inter-species' awkwardness and he wrote his sister to get it out of his head?  :(

Did you read the 2nd dossier?

Mr. Vakarian,
On behalf of the Helos Medical Institute, I would like to thank you for your efforts. It has been understandably difficult to get Collector tissue, given the sensitive situation on the human colonies, so the samples you sent to us have been extremely helpful. Please also offer my sincere thanks to Dr. Solus--I understand he made some calls to the Special Tasks Group, and as a result, our corporate clearance was upgraded.
Your concern about the Corpalis Syndrome is well-founded. While rare, it's an ugly disease. The neurological degeneration is both difficult to witness and nearly impossible to halt. We are in fact working on some test trials for a new treatment, and I believe that with our new STG clearance, we can get all fees for the trial members waived as a governmental cooperation effort with the Turian Hierarchy.
Thank you again for your assistance. Donations like these help keep us running. Per your request, we will keep your donations strictly anonymous.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jelith Kieron

My opinion of Garrus just skyrocketed after reading that. Behind the scenes he made sure that his mother DID get treatment.

That's an experimental treatment, it sounds like, and nothing definite.    It MAY help.

So yeah... she's still incurable.

With Garrus' luck, I wouldn't be surprised if the condition is heritable :?.

Saren is a prettyboy? xD I don't see it... maybe without all the metal, the cracks in his faceplates, and the evil stare.

Nah, that was me being facetious~  Although there's still something disturbingly sexy about him, but that may just be me...

Kim Shepard wrote...

ME1 Garrus is probably the most "pretty" turian I've seen. He was the youngest with smooth faceplates, and a lot of cute expressions.

DO NOT FORGET NIHLUS, INFIDEL! xD; No really, though, don't you think Nihlus was a looker as well?  Garrus, of course, but Nihlus was right gorgeous in the "pretty" sense, at least IMO

Kim Shepard wrote...

Saren looks more like a guy who's seen a lot of battles, someone people wouldn't want to mess with. Maybe in his younger days. I can't even imagine what young Saren would look like, except that I would think he's adorable.

I definitely agree.  Poor fellow <3

No, don't talk like that. I refuse to believe that Garrus is going to become ill, I don't think I would be able to bare it.

My MainShep would have romanced Saren if he was an option... unfortunately, she didn't get the chance. Now she really, really hates Sovereign. (Yeah, she knows Sovereign's dead. She can hate the memory of him/it now.) It would be nice to know more about Saren. I already made up my own explanations for some things, but it's better to know for sure. Until I read Retribution, I just assumed he had biotic implants before Sovereign, and the fact that he didn't use them in Revelation didn't make sense.

Of course I think Nihlus is awesome. xD Garrus definitely looks younger to me, even though Nihlus' age was never said. (I would guess that with a ~15 year difference between Shepard and Saren, Nihlus might be about five years older than Shepard. Just a guess though.) I haven't seen a turian yet who didn't look cool.

I doubt they'll make Garrus sick too... with Thane already having an illness that will eventually kill him if it isn't cured, it would seem like a bad pattern if they did the same with Garrus. What would that be, half of FemShep's romance options dying from a disease?

Okay, a few comments:
1) That t-shirt is absolutely hideous. I really don't want to insult the artist, but...dear gawd.  That is not the piece of fanart that I would have chosen.  Already put up my opinion on the FB page, but it seems to be getting positive feedback there.  Posted Image

2) I don't really see any validity in the theory that Garrus can't come into his own while still working for Shepard - I think this very idea is something dramatized for fiction; I work in a police department (which can be considered para-military, I suppose) and we have several married couples (officers, sergeants, and otherwise) who thrive in a shared setting.  Two strong-willed, capable leaders can work in tandem with each other without smothering the potential of the other - just look at the suicide mission with Garrus as fire team leader.

3) I don't get the appeal of Li.  I know I am in the minority, but his voice annoyed the crap out of me and I never talked to him outside of my first ME1 playthrough.  Maybe it's because I'm from the South...?  Posted Image  (Though that doesn't really explain while I still love The Real Housewives of NJ...)

I like the shirt. Better than the Tali shirt, I think (which was just a screenshot).

Take that, Shadow Broker.  Besides, where else is he going to get as much room for career growth in the near term?  He can't always be just a henchman, but it shouldn't mean he has to necessarily go away.

I love seeing career couples, by the way. In my field of study I've run into some clergy couples, and it's certainly one way to keep the pastor's wife from being treated as the casserole lady ^_^

Speaking of police, I'd be curious to hear what your take is on police work in real life vs. Mass Effect world.  The only police I've talked to were ultimately just hitting on me :(

I agree about Garrus and Shepard. The suicide mission is a perfect example of how both can work together and still be leaders. Shepard is in charge of the squad, but having others around who can lead is very helpful - people will die on the suicide mission if Shepard chooses the wrong team leader.

I think one of the reasons why people like Li and Lorik (besides all turians looking cool) is because they're just so nice to Shepard. They're friendly, and they offer to help. At least, that's one of the reasons why I like them.

Not loving the shirt. I think something simpler like a blue tee with the yellow Archangel logo would be more wearable.

I don't think you can define an individual within the context of their job/position. "Shepard is #1 on the Normandy, thus Garrus will always be #2", etc.  Rank does not equate ability, and proximity to another person of power does not negate or lessen your own.  ...and I'm starting to sound like a fortune cookie, so I shall stop.

I don't really recall much police work being done in Mass Effect since it always seems to be the burden of Shepard to do their job for them, haha.  Personality-wise, I will say that Gianna Parasini rings truest for me - a bit jaded, but with a sense of humor about it - but the police department is just like any other place of work, with all sorts of pleasant and unpleasant characters.

As for Garrus and his sister:

no matter if he's pulling some strings behind the scenes, I think he just wants some recognition from his family. The talk to his sister makes him appear as if he's their black sheep. Never doing anything right. Running out in the wild, playing cowboy and indians.....hence the dialogue with Shep. He just feels not worthy, no matter what he's doing. Can he be any more adorable? To me it feels, as if he never told that what he actually did. That he was part of saving the galaxy once and I feel like he won't tell them about the Omega 4 relay either. They have their own problems and don't care about the galaxy at all. Yet, he has to put his own concerns for his mom aside and face all this shyt with the Collectors and the politicians and then the stuff that happened to him on Omega, where he was trying to do something good but blames the death of his men on himself. OMG I wanna hug him and never let go! So much like many of my Sheps. I hope, in ME3 there will be some public awarding scene or something, after finally beating the Reapers and shyt where all of those involved get mentioned so those related to them actually SEE what a dangerous job they had to do and what a huge risk they had to take.

So.. I sketched a Garrus.
Figured I should try to draw something in return for my kid friend who drew me a Nihlus.

I'm kind of ashamed and will probably take it down once I make a better one, but I'd rather people tried to draw than didn't draw at all.

I generally like him with the sniper rifle, but I wanted Garrus to have a life outside of sniping.  So here is Garrus with a 15 cm presumably serrated blade ;) in civvies, hanging out.  Hope you all enjoy this, even if it's a bit iffy, before my second thoughts get the best of me...

It's adorable.  He may very well be too modest to actually tell them!  And anything else he could say would just sound slackerly.

I totally get that "black sheep" feeling - I've recently gone from being the model kid to the black sheep, except that unlike Garrus, I'm not saving the galaxy :crying:  and I bet many others have felt the same.

Garrus is an inspiration!

Agreed, Jane. The Mass Effect squad deserve some recognition for saving the galaxy, and it would probably help Garrus. Nothing seems to be going right for him except his relationship with Shepard (both friend and romance). It would be nice for Garrus to see that he really did make a difference and saved a lot of lives.

Julian, your Garrus drawing is awesome! :)

The thing that really gets me in his email is when his sister harasses him about not wanting to video chat lately.  Garrus can't even show his (now scarred) face to his family, since he's so concerned with minimizing his problems over theirs. Posted Image  Seriously, people, we need to DEMAND a Garrus-hug in ME3.

@JulianP - good job! Garrus/turians seem to be the most difficult to draw from ME, so I don't envy you artists.
