As for Garrus and a hug. Yes, I would definitely not mind if there's a hug between Shep and Garrus in ME3 or any of the DLCs. If it's romanced Garrus, I'd like it to be a hug with forehead bump and Garrus touching Shep's cheek just like she did in the romance scene in ME2. If it's a bro-hug or a friend hug with a non-romanced FemShep, I'd like it to be a well....friendly hug. Ya know, slapping the back and shyt. That would be nice. But no crying, please! Actually, it would be awesome if it was Garrus comforting Shep for once, not the other way around.  ^.^

This is exactly how I'd like it to be.

Very much agree, but I think it also important to say that I do not want this to be the culmination of the romance. I definitely want something like this to be PART of the romance, not the
"defining culmination" of it. NOT saying anyone here has suggested it; I just wouldn't want certain individuals *cough*BW*cough* thinking that. :P

Also, for the person mentioning not being able to quote while typing from a phone...try, when quoting the desired post, pressing the "BBCODE" button...if your phone's anything like mine, it should let you select the text box and type. (I'm typing this on a phone, btw ;p)

Garrus: Shepard. Need me for something?

Shep: Have you got a minute?

Garrus: Can it wait for a bit? I'm in the middle of some calibrations

Shep:...

Garrus:...

Shep: *runs up and hugs him*

Garrus: Posted Image

Shep: I know you don't want to talk right now, you're feeling some things , you're scared and  vulnerable but it's ok
*whispers* it’s ok. I'm here. If you have to cry it out, that's ok too, just cry, let it all out, cry, CRY INTO MY MUSCULAR ARMS.

Garrus: Shepard...

Shep:  Don't be afraid open up, you don't have to be the tough guy right now. You just be Garrus and I'll be Shepard and  right now we're just  two guys hugging each other.  Just two friends, hugging it out. Just two sexy men platonically hugging. Just two sexy men platonically hugging privately in a room together, totally comfortable about it because its not sexual...but if anything were to happen  I wouldn't say a word.

Garrus: What?

Shep: Nothing

Garrus: Look,Shepard I just don't feel like talking

Shep:Posted Image... Oh!

Garrus: Yeah

(Lets go of Garrus)

Shep: So...

Garrus: So I'll get back to my calibrations then

Shep: Right, right*cough* talk to you later Garrus * abrupt  star trek door noise*

Garrus: If only he knew....I don’t have to do any calibrations, there never were any calibrations *bursts into tears*

Garrus is the REFUND TURIAN?! How could I have been so oblivious to this amazing connection??

Back to a topic I read earlier: Regarding Garrus's dad, it could possibly be that his father is not dead but divorced.  I would actually like to see this, as marriage and it's subsequent conventions hasn't really been discussed outside of human ME relationships.  I would totally dig it if the rigid turian society actually permitted divorce - it makes them more realistic, I think, and less stereotypically spartan.

Also, I don't want a dead Garrus daddy.  :crying:  We haven't even gotten the chance to fluster and flummox him with our deplorable Spectre/human ways yet!

It's just guy love, love between two guys  I enjoyed that.

First of all, hello, new here.

Second, yeah, Garrus could use some serious huggytiemz, though I wonder how much is too much. Maybe something more subtle would be appropriate? Perhaps...if they were to be sitting, Shepard could put her hand over his, or she could lean on him for a moment, sort of a "nothing needs to be said" type of gesture. I'm all for showing affection, but body language could help differentiate the romances in this game.

And of course, I'm all for caring regardless of gender or relationship with Garrus. Maybe a firm grip on the shoulder for a more platonic thing.

Wow, been away a while and there's walls o' text about topics I really care about :) so sorry if I'm a bit late jumping in, but I really wanted to comment on some of this stuff.

Re: Garrus Tears:

I agree with those who read Garrus as "choking up" in the Sidonis scene.  It was very emotionally tense, and that tension never got entirely eased.

I lean towards the theory that turians can't physically cry, but if the Grieving Turian with his face in his hands in the Omega clinic is any indication, they certainly can be demonstrative.

It's not so much whether Garrus cries or not; it's more that I feel like his body language has been communicating a lot of sadness and frustration that he's reluctant to talk about, and I would like it if, in a context of deep trust, he could feel free for just a moment to demonstrate what he really feels.

There's a great example of the Single Tear in the new Doctor Who where Christopher Eccleston, who's been tight-lipped about his pain and continues to be rather stoic, shares a very brief connection with someone who knows his secret and blinks away a single tear.  It's so quick that it's not even possible to get a clear screenshot of it.  I mention this as an example of a satisfying cathartic moment that didn't short circuit the character's struggles and emotional journey.

That's the kind of Garrus Cry I could go for.  A moment of catharsis.

As for bawling, how that works depends a lot on culture, and it can be surprising which cultures have which views about it.  You can read some East Asian stuff like the Chinese Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and totally badass warriors will be totally soaking their clothes in tears, and it's considered appropriate and manly.  Or to take a Japanese example, I recently saw a Japanese theologian praise Yamato Takeru for weeping, even while having to do what he had to do.  It's possible that turian culture(s) might also have a place for a kind of appropriate, ritualized show of emotion or lament.

Actually, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Brandon Keener is listed for any additional voices in ME1 (at least, I don't remember it from the credits), so I don't think that's him. He just does Garrus, and that's it.

At Clan Z we're talking about whether Turians can even cry. Do we know either way?

Garrus Vakarian doesn't ride a bicycle to the moon. He just shoots the moon down with his sniper rifle and steps on it.

Catharsis...I like it. Very good points. When so much goes wrong, it all has to come to a point. With the upcoming Reaper battle, there may not be much room for emotional release, but better some resolution than have it hanging in the air.

I could believe turians might have a time and a place for mourning and such. If they have sparring to release anxiety before battles, seems there could be another side to that coin.

Ref. an "I LOVE YOU, SHEPARD!", I don't need Garrus to say it, but in Mass Effect 3 I want the option for my femShep to say it to him...because I think he needs to hear it, poor guy.  Also, hug.  HUG!

I can't hear garrus saying "I love you" either but maybe "you're the best thing that ever happened to me" . And if he were to use the L word it wouldn't be cliché, maybe he'd say it in a humorous way "A turian vigilante and a human commander fall in love while saving the galaxy...sometimes I think I'm living in a space opera"

Hey, is anyone here a Septimus Oraka fan? Just watched a friend play that encounter yesterday, and I just like him more every time.

I love that guy. He's such a loser for being all petty about being shot down or dumped (which do you think it is?) by Sha'ira, but it's so much fun that this apparently competent leader is also so unabashedly heartbroken over some girl. He's so refreshingly frank about it all.

His lines are so funny and well-delivered, too. His woe-is-me tone of voice... His calling Wrex ugly... His inviting the troops to "kiss [his] leathery backside" (Aha! Turian ass is ... leathery!) ... How there's only five people in the damn galaxy who talk to him "like that" ... His double cold showers...

In spite of his having been immature about it, part of me keeps wanting to see settle down with Sha'ira happily ever after. He's so crazy about her. Might not be so cute in real life, but sure is cute in-game.

Would it be too much to wish that there were YouTube documentation of all his possible lines with all possible squadmates?

I don't think it would be too much at all. I too love Septimus, he reminds me a lot of me. I think he and Sha'ira would make a great couple but I think his military career must take priority. Think of the troops, they couldn't have high morale without having him on their side cracking all the jokes.

I get the feeling he was shot down. Being a General, he's probably used to getting his own way more often than not, and the rejection really hit his pride (as evidenced by the smear campaign he started in response).

Leathery backside? good point! Though that could be more due to age, and younger turians have far less leather...y..  back..sides..
