Yes, true, that does suck. But this is the kind of story where basicaly everything is there to make the hero more heroic.

Perhaps Garrus thinks that Aria is the best kind of ruler Omega can have at the moment? To me it seems like she wants to run Omega with as little harsh methods as she can. So Garrus targets the more destructive elements instead like slavers and drugdealers. They are easier to remove than Aria and gives a immediate positive reward in a way, wich is Garrus style in my opinion. I don't think Garrus likes Aria at all, despite all she is still a gangster who can be as cruel as she needs to be, but at the moment she is the least bad option for Omega.

Well, in any case that is in Garrus past now. He has more important things to do now. Shepard for example.

Playing through my 'loyal to Kaidan' playthrough, and to mix things up I want to kill some people off on my SM. However, I know there is a "hold the line" score that takes into account who you leave behind when you fight the final boss. I know Garrus has a somewhat significant score, but I'm concerned so few people will be left with him that it might put him in jeopardy if I leave him behind.

Here are the people I plan on killing off: Jacob, Tali, Jack, and I haven't decided on Miranda yet (I hear she's near impossible to kill off?).
Also, I left Grunt in his tank because I want to see how they handle that in ME3.

Sooo, that leaves Garrus, Samara, Mordin, Thane, Zaeed, Kasumi and Legion.

I figure I'll send an unloyal Zaeed off with the crew survivors so that he dies, too, and I'll take Mordin and Thane with me to the final fight since they're the easiest to do if left to hold the line.

With Samara, Garrus, Kasumi and Legion left behind are any of them in danger of dying unintentionally?? My main concern is Garrus, of course (to make this topic-related)! Has anyone tried anything similar to this?

It depends on the loyalty. Garrus is naturally hard to kill (I have once put him loyal by himself to defend to Hold the Line, and he survived). I'm not sure though if he's un-loyal.

Since you want to kill off Zaeed, Jacob, Tali, Jack and Miranda (are you trying to kill off Thane and Mordin too?), I think you should kill Jack by laser (no upgrade armour), Tali by not upgrading shields, Thane by not updating weapons, Jacob by tech specialist, Zaeed to lead second squad (if you want the crew to die too Or give unloyal Mordin escort if you wanted to kill Mordin) and take Miranda and somebody so you can kill her after the Human Reaper battle.

If Garrus, Kasumi, Legion, and Samara are all loyal, none of them will die holding the line. If I had a more specific understanding of who you wanted to live and die, I could give you a thorough rundown of what you need to do.

People who I want to survive are Thane, Samara, Legion, Mordin, and Garrus.  Kasumi I can take or leave, but I'm not actively trying to kill her.
So you had Garrus all by himself and he lived?  That makes me feel better, then.  Thanks for the suggestions! 

[edit] For some reason I thought the "hold the line" survival rate was trickier, as I had Mordin die during that sequence when everyone was loyal and no one before him had died.

I always thought Mordin always dies when holding the line O.O hence why I always sent him off as escort xD

The suicide mission guide in the ME2 forum has a great hold the line explanation. I read it after unloyal Miranda died holding the line when I brought Thane to the Human Reaper battle instead of Tali because I wanted Shepard and Garrus to catch each other both times. That thread answers questions about getting certain squadmates killed off and making sure others survive too.

This is what would happen if I tried to figure that stuff out on my own. xD Then Shepard would turn his/her head to the TV screen with that angry "Why couldn't you just check the forums?" look.

I might start MaleShep's playthrough again fairly soon. I found out that there's a version of ME1 with DLC on the disc, so it'll actually make me want to play through the game again after the unfortunate romance trap. This means more Garrus and more Saren, but I'll have to watch the Saren suicide two more times before MaleShep makes it to ME2. How sad... but at least MainShep gets to kill batarians now.

Tali death makes me sad  But hey, at least you kept Garrus alive.

As I've never had the urge to kill off any squaddies, which is the worst death sequence? From what I hear, it's the seeker swarms, but I could be wrong.

From a slightly different standpoint, I just feel like an idiot for letting squaddies die as a result of not getting upgrades. Surely that's the first thing Shepard would check: that they've got all the best upgrades available before even going in for the SM. Squaddie death because of disloyalty or unsuitability to the task is more acceptable to me in terms of not making Shep seem like a total idiot. Because it's not all that far-fetched to pick Thane for the biotic bubble, for example. Well...it makes very little sense to pick him when you've got Samara there, but still.

The Fleet & Flotilla poster art is really well done. But Shep looks a bit weird in that Garrus & family on the beach pic.
