Yeah, exactly. Asari arent alien looking enough for me. What's the point if it's basicaly a blue version of the standard game babe? Quarians, Drell and especialy turians however... Now that's what I call well designed and attractive in a alien way.mrsph wrote...

But to keep this focused on Garrus I was really stoked when I learned about him and Thane since it finally meant I could romance an alien that wasn't a boring ol' asari.

Nah... I got the spill drinks dialogue with my Kaidan girl. Redeemed him somewhat.
But the "cuttlebone" comment... dunno if I can let that one go.
Yea, that one's hard to pass up. There are a few other things that are also very hard for me to pass up. The dialog isn't what turned me off of him. At first it was just because I thought Thane and Garrus were more interesting. Later, I started looking at the character and found some things about him I really didn't like personality and morality wise and I'll just leave it at that. OT and beating up on Jacob has been done to death.
I still don't have a full paragon Garrus yet. My newest Shep is designed for that, but then she somehow ended up with Liara in ME1 so I don't know what to do with her ME2 yet. She's going to get darker. I need to find a way to darken her enough to ditch Liara, but not go dark enough to renegade Garrus. It's complicated.
actually it's not that hard xD just do every renegade you feel good about but keep the paragon path with Garrus. That's what Kara did. She's pure evil renegade in ME2 but for Garrus and Tali she did EVERY thing possible and kept them on the paragon side. she's such a beast when it comes to that. and her renegade face looks bad ass. I totally stayed away from the med bay upgrade just to let everyone see she's paragon. sure, her beauty totally suffers with that but her bad-assery gains 100% xD And Garrus and Tali are her besties. Everyone else has to just deal.

Now I would have actually liked the asari if they went with the illusion idea. A species that tricks your mind into thinking they are an attractive female species? That I like, especially if the real them is a gassy ,blobby ball of energy LOL

it's worth it. On my first PTs I was so focused on one LI that I got really narrow-eyed.......but the more Sheps I created,t the more I learned to enjoy each of their individual stories and their LIs......it's fun....really.
Still, I'd recommend giving the Garrus romance a go. It's both funny and very moving, and definitely one of the best romances of the lot. And, as a bonus, you don't have a death threat hanging over your LI's head. Then again, we're all heavily biased in here
And even though Garrus' romance is everything I want for my Shep, I still have separate Sheps for Thane, Kaidan and Tali (and maybe Jack). Every romance has its perks!
Even if showing some skin is the only perk I can find in the Miranda and Jacob romances

Well, I dunno. Although the bachelor party is mostly there for the lulz, I feel like one of Aria's comments kinda corroborates the illusion idea. She says that Patriarch's supporters failed to take into account certain "talents" that her species tends to downplay. Now that can't be their sex-appeal or their willingness to mate with other species, because that's pretty blatant (all the strippers in Afterlife are asari...), so to me, it sounds like she's referring to their abilities to manipulate perception.

Why wouldn't it be that? I didn't see any female krogan, batarians or turians on Omega.... gets awfully lonely....

Attention everyone! I'm trying to find that AWESOME piece of of Garrus art where he's shirtless and taking a shower, he's all serious and looking down, it was posted here before but I can't find it! If it rings a bell let me know.
There's a thread in Clan V with that pic. I don't know if we can post it here.

Simply because they're not downplaying it. There are asari strippers everywhere and everyone knows they can mate with any species.
But if it were widely known that they were actually manipulating perceptions to appear attractive to every other species, now that might raise some eyebrows and incite suspicion. Hence why they would maybe want to downplay it.
@ Hyrule_Gal: I think you're thinking of the Young Kuril pic. It was posted over in the NSFW thread.

I'm too hard of a roleplayer for this. I can't just do something because I want to. I have to have a pretty mapped out character, and I never went for chaotic neutral types much. I'll figure something out though. The main reason I haven't isn't because I am flat stumped but more because I just haven't really bothered to think about it much yet. I'm more concerned with my Tali dudeshep than that new paragon Shep. "Robin" as her name is on a backburner at the moment.
@Nilf
I never interpreted the Aria comment in that way, but I think you have a point. I do think she is talking about asari promiscuity, but it also makes it seem like she is talking about more than just that. She is talking about something that gives her an edge in dealing with enemies, not just her people's culture. Also, Retribution has a part where it flat out says that there is an obscure theory in the ME verse that some people believe that asari somehow manipulate people to make themselves look more attractive. If this was the case, it might explain Garrus' possible interest in Vaenia.

Hmm...Not necessarily, depending on how they achieve this manipulation. If it's got something to do with a certain kind of hormone or if it's psychosomatic, I'd imagine they would need to actually be in presence of whoever they're trying to seduce for it to work. If, on the other hand, it's purely an optical illusion of some sort, then yeah, it might also work through video.

It would have to have a visual element. Otherwise, taking a picture of an asari would reveal their true form.

Oh Kara evolved during ME2. She was pure Paragon in ME1. Hence why I write Darkangel. Playing her in ME 2 was as confusing to me as it must have been to her. Being brought back from the dead and then finding out all that stuff. It's like, woah! It was too much for her. She acted unlike herself. And she didn't know what to do about it. Or how to deal with it. Garrus and Tali though were the only ones she could rely on. Garrus more of course, she'd always had a crush on him in ME1, hence why she didn't romance anyone there. It's hard to explain her actions with pure reason, really. She's a very emotional person, that had gotten used to lock everything inside. Whenever she looked in the mirror and saw how much her face changed throughout the game, it made her sick to her own stomach. She hated Cerberus, she was pissed at the Alliance and Kaidan too. When she met Tali on Freedom's Progress it didn't go too well. If you choose the renegade dialogue there, you'll know what I mean. She kept struggling because good and bad were waging war inside of her and mostly the bad side won. When Garrus asked for her help with Sidonis, she wanted to do everything to prevent him from becoming like her. From giving in to his anger and frustration like she did. They had a huge fight after that. Garrus had become her voice of reason throughout the game. At least in my head. Reversed roles so to speak. I can't wait to get to this point in my story where I am actually writing this down. Right now I'm where she's recruited Tali and can't understand how Tali goes from "You're with Cerberus" to "I'll join you". She's paranoid through and through and doesn't trust anyone except for Garrus, Tali, Chakwas and Joker.
We should take this to the Shepard thread in clan v though xD
Garrus is awesome. :innocent:

Well, I don't actually think they look like blobs of gas. They could very well look like what they do (blue tentacle-heads). Just that whatever species is viewing them sees traits that would be more prominent and considered attractive in its own species. Eg. humans see them as very humanoid. But they're still blue and have tentacle heads, probably because those are distinctive to their own race, while the perception of their other features could be manipulated.
And yep, Kuril's definitely in the shower. Don't know how I didn't notice that

Right, I just mean that their visible attractiveness tailored to individual species would not be maintained in vids or pictures, yet given how crazy Joker goes for Vaenia and that we have seen video of asari strippers and such that don't look any different from regular asari, it must mean one of two things. That that is how they really look, or that the manipulation has some kind of visual element.
And I never noticed the shower either. For some reason, I thought it was rain.
