I think he was quite clear in ME1 that he wanted to see Saleon suffer the same way his victims had but he'd settle for a quick death or if Shepard insisted incarceration.

I still don't think he would've actually harvested his organs if he'd been on his own. Roughed him up a bit, sure, but I really don't see him going that far. I don't think he literally means he wishes he could harvest Saleon's organs. It's kind of like, when you're angry at someone, you can say "he makes me so mad, I could strangle him!" You wouldn't actually strangle that person if given the chance. It's just a way to express frustration. And, in the case of Saleon, I think Garrus is also trying to intimidate him.

Hello Garrus lovers and devotees!

I've just created the following poll, which asks users to vote for the romance which is not necessarily their favourite, but the one that they believe to be the most well-written. Any contributions or votes would be very much appreciated:

Thank you!

Well I didn't think Garrus would literally harvest his organs, but I'm sure he would have liked to have done more than just shoot him.

I tend to side with this train of thought, although I wouldn't be surprised if Garrus had done something like harvest Saleon's organs had he the opportunity and means.

About Garrus' kill list, I didn't think any of them were cruel. Most of the deaths sounded like they could have been almost instant. "Suit malfunctions" are deaths that can happen in-game with Overload and Sabotage. Killed by a stolen weapon could be as easy as Shepard picking up ammo in ME2, except with Garrus grabbing one of the stolen weapons when he runs out of bullets. The red sand overdose, I think, would have been done by shooting a crate filled with the stuff, which Shepard can do too - I imagine he screamed for a few seconds in pain and then died, much quicker than the krogan Shepard can kill with the Renegade interrupt. The only one that confused me was the cough, but I agree with Nilfalasiel's theory about that one - the guy might have been interrogated when he had suit damage from battle (or if not in battle, we all know Garrus can be rough in his interrogations, even if a suit break wasn't his original intention), and one of Garrus' men could have been sick. They had to live in some pretty harsh conditions, probably with no medical supplies other than the basics and medi-gel for injuries, and if quarians can be allergic to non-dextros, a virus from a human/batarian/krogan could be fatal. I think he died during the course of the interrogation.

I also doubt that Garrus really wanted to harvest Saleon's organs. It sounded like a threat to me, similar to Shepard's "shortest interrogation ever" dialogue. Sometimes people just say things like that to scare the other guy. I know none of my Shepards would really do what they said to Kelham. Beating him up, and not making the death quick? Sure, but like he said, they didn't have the time. Paragon Shepard would probably disapprove, but a lot of Renegade Shepards wouldn't, so I don't think he was holding back because of Shepard. They were on a more important mission, and Garrus didn't want to take too much time away from that - at least, that sounds logical, and it's a very turian way of thinking.

First off, I agree with Kim about Saren. We had a very nice Saren analysis fest here a few weeks back where we broke the guy down. I'm sure I could dig it up if you want to see the nitty gritty of some of our Saren interpretations. We had another one about indoctrination that also explains a lot with Saren.

Sarenfest was fun. xD Longest wall of text posts I ever wrote here on the forums. Is it linked in the archives yet?

Just stopping by to say talking to Liara about Garrus gave me all kinds of warm fuzzies. I loved those lines. I still have warm fuzzies. I need a snuggly Turian.

...Isn't one of Garrus' attacks called Concussive Shot? My Shepard has ordered him to kill with that attack. Yikes.

Yep, I pretty much agree with the lot of this!

And yes, Concussive Shot is one of Garrus' moves. And I also usually use it to finish off enemies who don't have a lot of health left. It usually knocks enemies over though, so either Garrus was lying about using them during his RM, or his tiredness somehow made his concussive rounds phail Posted Image

Nah... if you hit someone with shields up all it does it knock down the shields.  Just like he said.

Maybe it just knocks them down because we tend to use it as a kill move. xD I don't know how much damage Concussive Shot does on higher difficulties, but on Casual, I've seen it take down a full health bar.

Believe me, not much. It's annoying. Though it does take down shields pretty well no matter the difficulty, IIRC.

It's moderate damage on Normal. It barely puts a dent in peeps on Insanity Posted Image

@ Sialater: It's meant to be used on Barriers though...Not Shields.

Hmm...I'll keep a lookout for my next Barrier'd enemy and see if it knocks 'em down or not. Gonna be in a while though, as I'm in the middle of Project Overlord atm.

You're right, but if you use it in the vicinity.... I think it does what he claimed he was trying to do to Shep.  It's been a month since I've played ME2, though.  I'm replaying ME1.

I only tried Insanity once (just for laughs during a suicide mission for science playthrough), and Garrus wasn't there. My Shepards feel more powerful on lower difficulties, where Harbinger doesn't walk straight to you through gunfire. On Casual, it can almost kill an enemy with shields/barriers to use Garrus' Concussive Shot in combination with my MainShep's Warp. That's probably my most common attack combo, since Garrus is with me most of the time.

Yeah, I'm not touching ME2 Insanity ever again (I'll get the LotSB achievement on Hardcore). Hearing Tali crying out that she was frying in the vents was distressing enough. And let's not mention seeing Garrus DIE on his RM...That, Tali's RM and LM, Grunt's LM, Kasumi's LM, Horizon, the Collector Ship, the Derelict Reaper, the SM...all of those were brutal on Insanity.

Poor Garrus and Tali. D: I rushed through those parts of the game, even on Casual. No deaths on the suicide mission, but Shepard got killed a lot during Garrus' recruitment. At least Garrus was okay. I decided to try out my next ME1 playthrough on Normal, but go back to Casual for the Saren battle. I don't want to take the chance of being angry with my favorite character because his Sovereign-possessed body is too hard to beat. That battle has always been sad with a sense or urgency when I played it, and it would be unfortunate if it felt like the Benezia battle on Normal - completely frustrating.

<3 That's exactly what I want in a Harbinger. I wish I could set the rest of the game to Hardcore and turn up the Harbingers about 50%.

I admit, that was hilarious and totally felt like Harbinger was one of those unflinching horror movie creatures that can't be stopped. It's good that the option is there for gamers who have more skill than me, but I couldn't play the whole game like that. I lasted all of seven minutes. xD Shepard seems more like a super-soldier who can fight through anything on lower difficulties, but I'm sure a lot of people can play Shepard that way on Insanity too. Or is it more like Garrus during his time on Omega, fighting against all odds?

I did pretty well on Insanity. Died more than I like to admit. But I had to start over since I muffed Miranda's loyalty at the confrontation. However, Garrus did pretty damned well and bailed me out quite often.

Garrus is awesome like that. :) Too bad I haven't managed to catch any Garrus saves or great combat moments that he did on his own - except for the one where I accidentally pushed a wrong button and almost hit him with a biotic attack, but he moved out of the way. (I had the battle paused in the power wheel for a while trying to take it back too. I'm glad he avoided it, because I couldn't figure out how.) He probably does a lot of cool stuff when I'm too distracted with trying to keep Shepard alive.

As for stuff I commanded him to do, there's been some awesome times, like when he used Concussive Shot on a varren running right at Shepard (which then died right in front of Shepard). The only squadmate, from what I remember, who saved my Shepard without being told to was Jacob, when I was trying to get Shepard killed to reset the squad positions. It was pretty funny though.

About the "cough" thing:  I think that was straight-up lulzy BW stuff.  The reason I say that is that after reading the secondary way to take down a krogan and Jacob's morning workout regimen in the dossiers, I can't believe it was meant any other way. :P
