I agree that Asari repellant while you have your LI around would be nice. That or a Garrus head-butt :-) If FemShep gets to be bi then I think MaleShep should be too! He might as well have Harkin and other's hitting on him :-P Seriously though I think there should be some sort of choice up front where you can pick male or female and then specify bi, straight or gay to make things easier! No more inappropriate and unwanted advances then.



I could see Garrus holding a door open for Shep but I'm not sure about the chair thing.

+1.  Seriously, I don't see what the big deal is with bi MaleShep, if the FShep has Kelly dancing for her and stuff.  What's the big deal?  Just make an equivalent for MShep.  It's not like the player has to take the option if they don't want to. /shrug

Yeah, the door thing is common courtesy (I'm a woman but I hold doors for people), but the chair thing is totally a chivalry affair.  Not ever having been a man, I can't say I know exactly how that one works.

Basically I want a "please don't rub on me" dialog option. The fact that it isn't there seems to imply it is one of those default things Shep does that I have no control over as if he/she has no problem with it. Fortunately, none of my characters are theatrical or have tempers so I am able to come up with roleplaying reasons that they don't say anything because it isn't worth the bother.

And yes, I love Garrus complementing Thane. I think he sounds sort of intrigued by Thane on the RM or rather intrigued by Thane's skill.

I can't tell you (and I am sure I do not NEED to tell you) how much the unsolicited asari touching/personal space thing bugs me.  "Don't rub on me" dialog option is a deliciously great idea.
And now I want to get out of here and go get Thane...I was VERY adamant about meeting Nassana in ME1 so I could savor her death in ME2 (yeah, I'm sick, so what??)...for a while, I was afraid her quest wouldn't trigger in ME1.  But it triggered, albeit in reverse, so I can be gleefully perverse during the Sam Fisher Thane intro scene.

That and I have little doubt that once he gets over his initial awkwardness he might pretty darn bold with compliments and teasing and possibly snarky/flirty about it as well.

I could totally see Garrus buying a sniper rifle for Shep, or upgrading her armour or something like that. I could see him doing some home work and trying to get her something more personal too - like finding out what her favorite food is or favorite author or something like that. Nothing as obvious as flowers (unless Shep really loves them). I'm sure he'd get over his nervousness pretty quickly :-)

I don't know about anyone else here, but personally, I'd not want something mushy like flowers from Garrus--it's just not in character for him. Now if he bought my Shepard a new rifle, I'd swoon.

Even the way Garrus kills people is classy. Thus, I can see him acting in a very refined manner towards his femshep like opening doors etc. I'm not sure if that's romantic or just chivalrous ... I can also see him putting 100% into dates and such. But I don't see him calling her honey or babe, holding hands/talons in public, making shep a scrapbook of all their dates, writing poetry or sending her roses on their 1 month anniversary. 

And for the whole 'femshep may be bi' thing, I do think it perpetuates a stereotype. It is possible to be a straight woman and still be an uber professional marine. I'm not sure if BW means to do this because I do think it's done somewhat as fan service.

I kind of remember one where Garrus bought her some kick ass boots and a sniper rifle. I can see Shep reciprocating in a similar manner - matching his and hers sniper rifles

Seriously, though...I agree with all the above as to the type of "romantic overtures" Garrus would make.  Not flowers and poetry and scrapbooking () but definitely thoughtulness that comes from Garrus being Garrus.  ^^ It's sweet, it's different, and it's wholly him.

I'm sorry if my examples of what Garrus would NOT do made you ill. But I think there is a difference between romantic and thoughtful. I think giving someone something you think they'd love is more thoughtful and/or sweet. It's hard to define, though.

if I may comment on the whole femshep being bi thing, I think that its solely because its more "acceptable" for Mass Effects demographic to have a bisexual female then it is to have a bisexual male.

I'm pretty well convinced that most Shepards who played a femshep and romanced Liara did it because they were guys who like seeing lesbians.

Meanwhile if male Shepard and Kaiden were together, those same people would probably bring the anti-gay thunder.

Personally if male Shepards were bi, I may actually do a maleshep/Garrus playthrough. Honestly, I don't know what it is about Garrus...but I would totally be his....

Heheh, why apologize?  I meant it in a humorous manner to show that I DON'T see that as something Garrus would do (and yes, I DO know you did NOT say that was something he would do). ^^ And I agree with your Beauty and the Beast analogy.  And sometimes, thoughtfulness like that can be very romantic (at least to me).  It's very touching, heartfelt, and unique.  It shows real effort and love, I think, to tailor a gift in such a way, to make it that meaningful.  And something like that is what I'd like to see with the Garrus romance. ^^

I read in one fanfic Garrus bought a dress for femshep to wear on their date. I sort of like this idea, but I think it would have to be a spur of the moment thing. I'm not sure either if Garrus is one to think too much about what femshep is wearing (preferably nothing).
I can see him whisking her off on an adventure to some remote area when she has shore leave, and making it a complete surprise. I don't really see sunbathing, more like ruins exploration and rock climbing and zip lines.
I can also see Garrus buying them a karmasutra book because once their relationship is established, he is confident with his sexuality.
