Haha, I didn't mean that everyone is mean to Conrad intentionally...just that the stupid glitch in ME2 makes it seem as if you were. :)

See, I heard it was going to be MORE dark, but with more humor as well.

Also: Might be a good thing with the Garrus shirt...I really hope they redesign the Garrus shirt. ^^

Edit:

Re: Conrad

I figured if the glitch was going to force me to have been mean, I'd might as well go all the way...yeah, I shot him in the foot. XD

Imagine if Conrad actually turned out to be an important figure of help in ME3.

Conrad is a character that makes me a little sad, as obsessive as he was, he was really distraught that Shepard died. He's a fan who takes things a bit too seriously, I see a little bit of myself in him.
I certainly know if I where to see Garrus on the street I would ask for a picture and autograph too.
Maybe he can just sign my lithograph...

Dug around and found the quote I was looking for:

"We're not talking too much about Mass Effect 3 right now, but the second story in a trilogy is where you traditionally end up in a fairly dark place. The third story is where you try and bring some fun and lightness back into it," he [Casey Hudson] said in an interview with OXM.

I don't see how they can get away from the dark stuff, I'm just happy it's not "Mass Effect 3: XTREME!", as I would be very concerned.  I hope they take their time with this game and don't feel the need to rush production as it seems to be the case with Dragon Age 2.  And, if we get our happy ending, I'd like to see them have a post-credit gameplay feature like in ME2.  The end of ME1 was always bittersweet in it's finality, and just having the pleasure of dorking around on the Normandy after the SM was a welcome relief.

Conrad must have gone insane from the news of Shepard's death. xD The funny thing is, I thought choosing the Renegade option in ME1 actually caused him to get himself killed. (Important in ME3 as in... human shield? Now that would be hilarious. Shepard's life depends on having a #1 fan.)

I read that ME2 was the dark story in the middle of the trilogy. I'm not sure where that came from though. Edit: And there it is, in the post right above mine. Thanks. :)

"Fun and lightness", huh? Makes me wonder what kind of antics the ME3 crew will get into.

EDI: Shepard, I have detected a fleet of Reapers heading for the Citadel.

*pause*

SHEPARD: I smell a roooooooooad triiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip!

As long as there's a scene set to the Benny Hill theme with the Normandy, the Reapers, and the Alliance fleet chasing each other back & forth throughout the mass relays.

I realy like Konrad and always help him but man, I can't resist shooting him in the foot. He does remind of Garrus in a way, he idolises Shepard and want's to do his part for the good of the galaxy. Sure, he is a idiot but he is sure a hero in his heart.

Does Garrus idolize Shepard? I never really saw it that way. He does flat out say "there's no one in this galaxy I respect more than you" but that's more like he admires Shepard and what she stands for. With Verner, it's almost more like envy. He doesn't admire Shepard. He wants to be Shepeard, which is something else altogether.

I read someone say before that Garrus approaches FemShep with a degree of hero worship, so this seems to be a common conception.  Maybe it's because he states that she makes him nervous?  At the most I'd call it deference, though, not hero worship (and she is quite impressive, any man would feel nervous).

I think it's undeniable that Garrus admires FemShep...but then again so does the entire crew (this is a story about Teh Amazing Shepard™ after all).  There is a marked difference between the fanaticism shown by Conrad Verner and Garrus's respect as her peer; for example, Garrus goes off to do his thang on Omega not to emulate Shepard, but for his own personal sense of justice.

Garrus is too close to Shepard to worship him/her as an idol. I could see that he had some idolised views of Shepard before being recruited, but those tend to disappear once you get to know someone up close and personal (take your minds off the gutter, girls, that's not what I mean now) and have more insight into their motives and workings. Idolisation comes above all from one's personal fantasies about someone and doesn't have a lot to do with the real person.

@Nekhbet - True, true. And that gets me thinking, does Garrus ever reference your background story (Torfan, Elysium, Akuze) in ME1? At that point in the story that is really the only "accomplishment" that he would be aware of in regards to Shepard, no? Not too much of a basis for hero worship, especially considering he's a turian and probably wouldn't be inclined to idolize a newcomer from another species based on one war story.

Yeah, perhaps idolising was the wrong word and Garrus has shown a great degree of self esteem in ME2 with his work in Omega.

I wasn't a huge fan of Conrad but I'm seeing that he'll play a bigger role in ME3. Damn it, why no details!? I hate it when developers announce things and leave us with so few details. I smell E3 2011 ME3 trailer. I hope they show Garrus. I like the look of the CGI Garrus. I think that if they can capture the light and dark side of Garrus and the squad members that would be great. I think we should see some turian colonies and get a bit of an insight into their lifestyle whilst trying to convince the turians the Reapers are real.

That's what you get when you tell him to stop bothering you when you first meet him on Illium. If you actually go through with his quest and tell him that he did a great job, he'll start a charity organization called "Shepard's".

That's the result I got, even after shooting him. :P Ah, blind adoration...

I hope we run into Conrad again.

Only to see he has assembled his own squad of incredibly inept experts with a weird alternate version of Garrus.

Now tha would finally be a funny Conrad Verner moment that wasn't just comic but also useful to Shepard. I know if I were Shepard and ran into him in ME2 I'd have slapped some cuffs on him. I think Garrus should have some comic dialogue refering to Conrad in ME3 and some funny dialogue when he's around him. Something like "Shepard this guy's very persistent isn't he? Can we just shoot him and move on, he's getting kind of boring. I'll do it if you like."
