I say everytime an asari comes on to you in ME3, you get to make out with Garrus.  (Or the LI of your choice)

This is a brilliant, brilliant idea.

edit: top.  My FAVORITE ME1 Garrus pic, next to the Virmire-crossed-arms one.  (Next time.) ;)

Pacifien will smite us with the fury of a thousand suns if we celebrate page counts. Or rather just ask us nicely to stop.

I can't be the only person who just makes gut response to the paraphrases based on my Sheps personality and gets it right most of the time? Can I? Am I a freak of nature?

Also, I am willing to deal with any number of horny asari if I am provided with shirtless Garrus as a coping mechanism.

But the dialog wheel choices sometimes are SO mismatched to what actually comes out of Shep's mouth ("I want you, Thane", anybody??)

And I will go you one further. While it is my personal feeling that Garrus is a particularly fine specimen of a turian man, I would brave a wave of horny asari to see a shirtless turian in general (even a female, for science...shouldn't be a problem since they better not have breasticles anyway).

But shirtless Garrus is of course the Holy Grail of polygonal paradise. :D

But with that Thane line, that's literally the only way to trigger the Thane romance. It's pick that line or bust. If you design a Shep with Thane in mind you have to pick that option. And it says that to make the intent explicit to avoid ninjamance. I guess I just knew that Bioware wasn't going to write a sleazy jumping Thane's bones line because it would make no sense for his character. He would not respond to that.

I support asari repellent in ME3.

Why hasn't anyone made a banner for this yet? xD

Anyway, on the subject of romance traps, I'm really glad it's not possible with Garrus. That's just another reason to like him, in my opinion.

@Ragabul: I get the paraphrases right most of the time. I mean, if I had to replay every conversation three or four times, it would take forever. But I don't get them right all the time.

I really don't want to deal with all those annoying flirting characters (asari or otherwise)... but I would replay the game as many times as I need to avoid it if Saren is resurrected. Same if Kai Leng is a squadmate. And if they're romance options.

Well, yeah...but there's just such a cognitive dissonance for me with the disparity between the written and spoken lines. But I see your point (and if there's anyone who dislikes unintentional ninjamances more than Kim Shepard and I, I don't know who that is).

OT, but I would love to see what Kai Leng looks like. If we get him, I'd give extra internet cookies for Lemm, too. :D

On the subject of Garrus (which my mind usually is, on some level, anyway!), I've been thinking I'll replay his first romance conversation, even though I don't have to. I mean, we get so few lines out of him, anyway...I don't mind restarting Haestrom. Yeah, I'll do it, if only for the "yeah...definitely!" pose. I could look at that scene 1000x ;)

Actually, I do that with Meghan and got it right each time.  Even the Consort.  Meghan would totally ask for more money.  And be completely astonished that she got laid instead.  And Garrus is SOOOO not going to let her live it down.

That smexy scene with the Consort always made me uncomfortable (not nervous), since I always brought Garrus, anyway, and I always had a crush on him from when I first met him. And neither squaddie says ANYTHING? Ugh, BioWare, WTF man.

The only "impossibility" is deciding Shepard's sexual orientation.

Because of the asari? I still say that if Shepard doesn't choose the options, it never happened. xD Mine are all straight, but it's possible to play Shepard any way with some imagination. A male Shepard who likes other guys could just not romance anyone because there are only female options, for example. They could like Garrus, but not say anything about it.

Thus the quotations ;)
I don't count romancing an Asari as lesbianism so I feel as though Bioware has yet to give Shepard a gay or lesbian relationship. Unless you count Kelly for femSheps, I guess...

So you're right in that you can still roleplay as though your Shepard swings a certain way. It's just that Bioware hasn't given us the opportunity to play it out in the game with an acknowledged romance. I don't understand why they record the dialogue and leave it in the game files but they don't actually go through with it.

To stay Garrus-related, I must mention that my favorite hidden sound file is the recording of maleShep saying "I'm not screwing Garrus."

EDIT: I also want to point out that lips aren't required for tongue-wrestling.

Maybe that's why they're referred to as "discount lesbians", tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DiscountLesbians

"I'm not screwing Garrus?"...I'm more curious about what conversation might have led up to such a thing! :P

If you visit her the first time after starting the romance with Kaidan, he'll speak up.

But alas... no comment from Garrus.  Not even a warning. :crying:

Well, at least Kaidan says something...I guess on my Kaidan romance PT, I either saw Shiala in the wrong order, or went all Paragony and stuff.

OK Garrus, seriously?  First this...now, no warning that a batarian bartender is trying to poison me in ME2?  What next--Garrus keeps to himself while Shepard blithely purchases a sub-prime mortgage in ME3??

Proof of my romance-trap hate: I liked Kai Leng even more after he was disgusted by the flirting asari. It was one of those "I like this human! He understands!" moments. There seems to be very few characters in Mass Effect who aren't attracted to them. I consider Garrus and Saren to be on that list - Garrus because he says he's never considered a non-turian before Shepard, and Saren just because of an educated guess that he only goes for turian women. But I was wrong about TIM (twice, apparently).

@kglaser: I think Kai would be really good-looking, judging by his description. So typical that my favorite Mass Effect shirtless scene (Kai's fight scene) has no pictures. xD

I dont know I found some of the thoughts bumping around his head, not very nice.

He is not a person I would spend time with. Strangely enough I wouldnt mind spending time with Zaeed since he reminds me of my Grandfather and some of his other friends.

Old Army guys have the best stories ever.

I can kinda picture Kai in my head, too, Kim...and coincidentally, I thought of him as...not unattractive. XD

I do value that line that Garrus says about never having considered cross-species intercourse before...it makes the romance scene so much more meaningful :)

I like how he said:
"and damn calling it that makes it feel dirty and clinical."

Shepard does come on hard to Garrus though in the romance, which I like because if Garrus took the lead... we would never really get anywhere.

I dont know about that, I got the feeling he was probably with Benezia. She probably tried to use sex to persuade him.
What? Shes an asari. Would anyone be surprised?
