After you leave the salarian camp if you take him with you and talk to him he will say "This place reminds me of where I grew up on Palaven minus the geth of course."

I'm totally going to find a savegame just to hear this.  I would be delighted if where Garrus grew up had pretty lagoons like that.  Interesting that Saren would pick a nice, pretty, temperate place like that.  Most of the other bad guys in the game liked to hang out on environmental hazard planets.

Wow, I never thought of that before. xD

Saren: Forget environmental hazards. I want the evil krogan reproduction base next to my beach house.

As for Garrus' scars, if there was a way to prevent or heal them, I would have... but that's my opinion as someone just playing the game. If I like a character, of course I don't want them to suffer, even though most of my favorite characters have suffered, and that makes them into the kind of character that I like. It gives them a reason for being the way they are. Saren, for example. He's been through a lot, and it makes me like his character more. Despite not wanting my favorite characters to be in pain, I totally understand why it can be good for the story. My favorite characters out of the ones I've created are the same way - they've suffered a lot, but it doesn't break them.

...That makes sense, right?

Here, take a poll on Garrus' scars!

Um, if the scars could be fixed of course I would let him fix them.  I'm not a sadist.  I'm saying if I never have that option in game I like the scars.

Are the scars painful though? I thought they were purely cosmetic because even after sufficient healing time, they remained.

The scars are especially important for players who start playing the story arc from ME3. We know what happened, but those players wouldn't think of asking "what's up with this dude, missing half his face?" if there was nothing to display that something happened. So yeah, that's how they can play a big role in storytelling. Unless they're removed in ME3, with some nifty plot that makes sense for everyone.

Re: turian councilor.

I think he's married and his mistress is a turian, but he's not getting any. Also, risking a scandal with an asari chick isn't a smart tactical move, so... poor Velarn.

I'm both for and against the scars. I think they make his story slightly more tragic and people really feel sorry for him. I know I was roaring at the TV when he got hit by the missile and I sat for a moment inshock when I saw the scars. However, I kind of think that it was kind of mean to have to do that to him as they could have found other ways to make the story more tragic without having to rip half of his face off and make him looki like half of him was Frankenstein's monster. So I'm of divided opinion on the scar front. I agree that it should only have happened if you didn't kill Cathka. At the end of the day, where did they find a mechanic so quick that could repair the gunship and how did he fix it so quick when it took Cathka ages to get it to the state it was in. OK, Cathka had done a lot of work but was it just a case of plugging a plug in? I doubt it.

I don't know, Garrus doesn't seem like the guy who dwells on the past so the scars should not be that important to him. Now that the gangster bosses who was hunting him are dealt with along with Sidonis all that is in the past. And I think he knows that he is handsome and charming and likes it, he does have a good self confidence so why not restore his good looks? A little vain yes but I think that is a part of Garrus personality.

He doesn't dwell on the past? What about tracking down Dr.Heart? And tracking down Sidonis? And his squadmates names are carved into his visor. He didn't get over Omega quickly; he even brings it up during the romance scene. He even brings up his work with C-Sec. I think Garrus totally dwells in the past, though he tries not to.

The scars played a good role in the story of ME2, that is true. But now I think Garrus moves on from that, he has new and more important things to do. So why not alllow himself a little vanity? It's probably good for his health as well to heal the scars.

Hmm...Well, I do think scars are sexy, but I wouldn't throw a hissy fit if Garrus wanted to fix 'em in ME3.

Yep. He likes to beat himself up over things that didn't go as he wanted them to.

I used to be against fixing his scars since I thought they added to his character and to the final romance scene when Shepard strokes that side of his face.

But then after reading the chat log with his sister, it became obvious that he is extremely self-conscious about them and doesn't want his family to see him like that.  Poor guy.

Indeed, poor guy. He seems to feel strongly about who he allows to see them and who doesn't. You'd think that if you bought the med-bay upgrade to heal your own scars you'd also be able to heal Garrus' as well or at least be able to offer to heal them. That or you could offer him some creds to find a good doctor who could heal the scarring. Cerberus could even have offered if Shep said they were affecting his performance on the team. After all, TIM wanted everyone focused on the mission and so could spare a doc to get Garrus' mind off of his scars and onto the mission if Shep lied and said it was affecting him.

I just can't understand why you couldn't fix Garrus's scars in the medbay like you can your own. All that money and technology and Shepard can't fix her Garrus's pretty face :-( And yes I'd so fix them for him if I could - even if it was just to make them fade and look less noticeable,.

Hey, couple more polls because this plethora of responses has got me curious now.

General opinions on Garrus scars.   http://social.biowar...6&poll_id=11436

And yes, I'm an obsessive **** driving a stick in the ground. I admit it. I'm also genuinely curious, believe it or not.  These are also my first polls so might as well start with Garrus I guess.

I want to find out what species the turian councilor's mistress is. If she's not a turian, I sure hope we get the opportunity to use that against any Garrus/Shepard objections he may have.

Yes! I was very surprised when I heard the drone announce the mistress thing. I was like "tsk tsk tsk, Councillor Velarn, you're being naughty".

Although, to be honest, I don't really expect him to be boinking a human. Asari, maybe, but it's more likely to just be another turian.

What? When? Where?  How did I miss this?

(slight LOTSB spoilers ahead)

When you've finished LotSB, go back to Hagalaz and wander around the main room for a while. The drone will talk about many things, one of them being the turian Concilor's mistress moving into a larger mansion, no doubt paid for by her sweetie.

You'd think the guy's wife would notice him buying extra mansions.

From a fic writer's standpoint... I don't want to try to figure out the mechanics of a romance scene between an egg-laying species and a live-birth species. The tabs and slots would be a bit difficult to match up, for one.

Do NOT look up snake reproduction then.

(FYI...it's not that I'm an expert on animal repro or anything, but I had to take a class on it and our textbook at a LOT of 'random facts' at the end of each chapter.  There are things about bull elephants that I didn't want to know...)

Ah yes, "Councillor Velarn's Mistress" is associated to this thread in some way, we have dismissed those claims.

But yes, BW taking the ****** out of Velarn is awesome as hell.

You know, as soon as I typed it, I thought, "I can't be the first person to think of that."

Still, given that information, just imagine if Shepard used that info...

*Next council meeting*

(Asari councillor finishes a topic.)  "So...we've cover the budget for the Elcor 5k...any other topics?"

"Er...yes..." (Gets out papers, looking nervous.)  "So...er...I've been thinking...just in case the Reapers are real...maybe we should have some drills or something."

"Drills?"

"Yes.  Reaper drills.  Also, the Spectres haven't had a cost of living raise recently."

(Asari councillor raises a brow.)  "Anything else?"

"Can I stay at your place?  I've been sleeping on the sofa for a week now."

Well if she's living on Palaveen and he installs his mistress on some other planet he could claim that it was his place for business.  Wouldn't be all that far fetched if he stayed there on trips.  What I want to know is how does a Councilor afford mansions - I can't imagine his salary is that lavish!
