But I thought you said you liked him more in ME2 than ME1. Is that still true?

Yes true. He becoming something that I thought he was gonig to become, a true friend of Shepard, but I felt that the dev so far has been weak. I am hoping Bioware fixs that, thats my opinion of course.

It's not so much people hating other characters that bothers me, each to their own, it's when people get insulting towards people who do like those character and it borders on personal abuse.

I've seen it in a few groups where basically you're called a d**k head if you like one character more than another, or they have labelled all fans of character A d**k heads, or a freak or whatever insult they want to hurl. It's infantile and ludicrous. I've gotten very upset about somethings that were past just character hate and were more like insensitve ramblings of juveniles.

sorry end rant.

On topic - turians in general are cool. IMHO.  And yes Kraidy I agree all the characters need further development in some regard, even Garrus.

Maybe in ME3 he will meet with your approval. BW does seem to improve their characters as they go along. For me, ME2 Garrus is so cool compared to ME1 and in Liara's DLC I like her a lot more now. They can only get better....

I don't dish characters either. I think it's better to say nothing at all instead of saying it. Being vocal about your opinions is okay, as long as you stay on the fence and not hurt anyone.
Now I'm curious, Kraidy. What would you consider Garrus' potential?

Garrus potinal is being a strong leader. So far that has not been gonig well because of the flaws that stop him, flaws that should have matured or not even exsist in ME2.

Indeed, thats what I am hoping. I admit I was a little disapointed on where Liara was going because it was poorly done but after LotSB, I love it. I love the direction her character is going now.

I like that they point that out in the LotSB, It's intimated he'll never reach that potential as a strong leader if he remains under Shepard.

Part of me thinks though that the flaws that Garrus has are used as plot devices so that he would join Shepard. Like they deliberately kept his potential stunted.

If his team were successful and still alive would he have joined the Normandy? If he was successful at C-sec or had become a Spectre - I'm really not sure.

@Kraidy I'm going to create a special Shep for Liara now since playing LotSB.  She deserves it.

I think it would have been posible for his team to be alive, remmember this is Garrus where talking about :P

This was a guy who decided to fight crime in honour of you. I don`t think his whole crew should have been killed, maybe some but not all. It would have given his searching for Sidnois more flavour then the classic "You killed my team and I trusted you!"

Yes true kg, it would give it a sad ending for us xenophiles, but on the other hand I wouldn't complain if they gave him a character story arc that lead him in other directions - as long as it was good and they did him justice (I really love what they did with Liara in LotSB).

I guess the developers wanted to give the Archangel story major drama by having all his crew killed.  If some had remained alive it might have been they would have tempered his revenge, or maybe not (if they wanted revenge just as much.)

The story's the thing, to paraphrase Shakespeare, so I agree to an extent...but if they did that, I would want a really good conversation/cameo with Garrus in ME3 to wrap up things. Otherwise, it's too abrupt.

(And it pains me to say all that...of course I want Garrus around for ME3! LOL)

I think the cameos are going to happen(no arguments please, this is how i feel)

However it`s possible at certain parts of the game we would have certain squadmates be temp (like liara in LotSB)

For example we go to Palaven to do something for the turians, e have Garrus with us since he knows the planet and is a turian.

It`s possible to do things like that, make these old squadmates have the Kelly treatment (dialog after new missions and also have romance content)

Then before he final battle the romance scene happens, which if Bioware would try it, each romance could be unique and fit each character. Thats how I think ME3 is going to be like, new squad for majority of the game, old squadmates can still be contacted like normal but they are doing important things, at certain moments they join your party then during the final battle you pick your squad from any survivors.

If ME3 captures my imagination as much as the first 2 games I'll have no complaints (well I'll likely have a few, thats unavoidable, but they'll probably be minor.)

And we'll always have fanfiction and AU to create.

Oh yes I found this today. Don't know who made it though <3

It's definately some form of foreshadowing I think. It could simply mean that garrus will get to take a leader position again but maybe theres a chance something will happen in ME3 that makes Garrus ignore Shepard's usual advice. Maybe he'll be firm this time around and not budge even when Shepard tries to change his opinion.

Personally I hope that last romance scenes in ME3 take the road LotSB did, what I mean by this is capturing the emotion, not worrying about the sex or anything, getting to the bottom of what is hurting the character. Have the character open up, let them tell us how they really feel, what is hurting them, ask you are you are feeling. I don't want Bioware putting more effort in the sex and not the dialog. Fade to black please, since my imagination is better then a limited game engine. ;)

I like that idea very much.  It would be the sweetest way to end things.  Dialogue that is passionate and heartfelt is always welcome.  Please Bioware!

And I need no graphic depictions in game.  My smut imagination knows no bounds.  If only you knew how many masskink requests I've filled...Posted Image

I wonder why they decided to make Gavorn homosexual. It probably has little other meaning then wanting to make people laugh.
Of course we could also see him in ME3. We could give him thresher maw scales and he can make us armor. All the while his human boyfriend will complain about him alienating the paying customers.
Thats right a Dragon Age reference.

As I have failed to make it even a 1/6 way through DA I'm afraid I've got no idea what you're talking about Theo!

As for making him gay - I don't think Bioware have come out (ha) and said that he is gay, just a lot of people have made the inference after playing LotSB and seeing the SB vids, not that you actually see anything...

Bioware don't seem to shy away from same sex pairings in DA (from what I've gathered - please enlighten me if I'm wrong) but have seemed to have freaked out about it in ME. Strange.

I normally stuff my fingers in my ears and do the "Lalalalala! can't hear yooou!"-treatment when someone suggests Garrus not being a squadmate in ME3, but I actually could tolerate this idea.

I'd like it even more if, after their "mission" (like the Palaven one you mentioned), you get a love-scene similar to the one in LotSB and then another before the big final mission.  If it's an established relationship I don't want to wait until the end of the game to get some loving.  Also, new dialogue following big missions - and maybe an occassional e-mail (though I'd prefer a video message - it's the future! We have the technology to do this!) - would have to be a must, too.

That being said...I personally believe he'll be available as a squadmate in ME3.  Posted Image

Mass Effect is so much more mainstream the Dragon Age theyre probably worried about Fox News throwing a hissy fit about videogames trying to "TURN OUR CHILDREN GAY!!!"
Look how well they handled the love scenes in ME1. Now imagine if they saw it with two men.

I remember there being a very mild fuss about a Zevran/malePC love scene that was featured on some talk show...(Jimmy Kimmel, or something?) which was odd because it came out about six months after the fact.

I think Gavorn might be a response to all the gaymers who were longing for Garrus to be an option, but in the end I think Bioware views it as a benign fact: some people are gay.  Gavorn is gay.  End of explanation.
