For me, it would have to be if he ever intentionally becomes violent with my Shep. Like, when he shoves her arm away after she stops him from shooting Harkin. He doesn't hit her or hurt her then, BUT if he ever really went through with that kind of gesture (and he came disturbingly close during the Harkin scene), it would be a complete deal-breaker.

I can't imagine Garrus with anyone other than FemShep, at least not in a serious relationship. Just stress-relief with strong female turians. xD Although, it is amusing that TIM got one vote. I wonder if that was a joke, or actually serious.

And about Kelly... I think she likes Garrus (and everyone else, really), but she's not his type. If there's any one thing that all of our FemSheps and that female turian have in common, it's that they're all strong women. Kelly does not seem like a strong woman to me, more like the type that Shepard has to rescue and wouldn't know her way around a battlefield at all. Not saying that's a bad thing, just... probably a requirement for Garrus to be interested.

Things my Shepards wouldn't like about Garrus? Well, they all have at least one thing that they like about him (most common would be his loyalty). But I have 15+ Shepards planned out. To go into detail, they'd need their own post. >:D For the Shepard who romanced him, I don't think Garrus would do any of the things that would make her not like him. It's just not the kind of person he is.

Well, that's unfortunate.

My happiness at this might be out of proportion but, I just remembered where Garrus says those words:
"That's unfortunate, hospitals aren't fun to fight through."

(I remembered it while washing dishes; while part of my mind is doing that, another sorts things out. IMO, calibrations work that way for Garrus- he can let his mind just sort out/background process things while his main attention is on the algorithms.)

Awesome. :D So that's why it sounded familiar. I've only played through ME2 once so far.

It's hard to think of something that isn't out of character that Garrus might do to ruin the friendship/romance.

If he suddenly started trying to be a "good turian," depending on what that entailed, that could be a turnoff.  It's part of why I worry about paragoning him so hard.  But then again, this isn't Dragon Age.

@ silentstephi and anyone else who wants to know, here's a list of my Shepards' (with numbers instead of names, it's easier to remember that way) opinions about Garrus. I knew I would make a list like this eventually. xD

Shepard #1: This is the MaleShep I've been playing, the one who got trapped in Liara's romance. Garrus is definitely one of his best friends, more so in ME2 after he went to Omega to follow Shepard's example, because fighting all three merc gangs at once all on his own is totally something this Shepard would do. They also have another thing in common now - he's a Sole Survivor, and Garrus lost his team on Omega, so Shepard knows what that's like. Too bad there was no high-five (or three?)/brofist option after that story about the female turian.

Shepard #2: MainShep. So... many... clones. xD Most of them will romance Garrus, they just have different backgrounds and make slightly different choices. It can put a whole new effect to their relationship. I can't think of anything they don't like about him. They like turians and they like his personality. They always encourage him being Renegade, of course. One of them (probably the most "true" version with the background I made up) won't romance him because she likes Saren and is still upset that he died. She still likes Garrus, just as a best friend.

Shepard #3: He's more of a serious guy, not really the type to make friends and pal around with the crew. Garrus was a comrade, someone who wanted to learn from him, and by ME2, Garrus takes all of his advice. He's very impressed and proud of Garrus now.

Shepard #4: (The Shepard most likely to become Saren by ME3! xD) Poor Colonist/Sole Survivor Shepard. What happened with Garrus on Omega really reminds him of Akuze. Garrus is his best friend, and having him around now really helps. He brings Garrus everywhere, even into the plague zone.

Shepard #5 and #6: These two can get grouped together. Not really much to say except that they both have trust and respect for Garrus.

Shepard #7: Earthborn Ruthless Shepard! This is the guy who never would have guessed he'd be friends with an ex-cop. Revenge and betrayal are two things I included in his personal history, so that effects the way he handles Sidonis - he wanted to make him talk, to let Garrus know why he did it and still kill him anyway. Garrus is one of the few people he would trust not to shoot him in the back (during that scene in Garrus' loyalty mission when he has the sniper rifle aimed at Shepard), which is saying a lot for him. If he has to go through hell and back, like Garrus said, Shepard's glad to have him around.

I'll post this now and post the rest later because... well, it's getting long.

I think those were just some old screenies. All of the comics I did are in Chimervera's OP, except two I posted somewhere near the end of the topic.

Lovegreno - I'd romance a fem turian on a MShep so fast, the developers heads would spin.
But... hopefully she'd have a personality to back up her being a turian.
Otherwise... no dice. They'd still be on the hook to make her awesome. Being a fem turian is a small piece of the awesome puzzle. XD

A fem Turian LI goes a long way in itself but she have to back it up with a winning personality too of course. With Garrus setting the turian standard we might have a bit high expectations though.
Something like that fem turian Buggirl wrote a story about perhaps. But BioWare will leave more to the imagination than Buggirl did of course. Too much details about... things...isn't very marketable for the bigger audience.

Actually, iw ould think since Garrus is an example of what a "bad" turian is, I'd expect a Fem turian NPC to be a bit more like the species stereotype. And even THEN I'd still romance her, because I love turians. Garrus is amazing because he's a rebel, but turian culture is so weird but fascinating, I could see it working.

Then again, if they made a Fem turian that was by the turian stereotype... would SHE want to romance a human? (lulz)

It's taken me like 3 hours to get through 50 pages... I'm having an ADD day -.-

I fear I may not be one of the cool kids; I still haven't managed to talk myself into a male Shepard playthrough.

I hope you post the rest; your Shepards are interesting and I like hearing their backstories/your thought process with each.

You said you've only played ME2 once; are you taking each Shep you make through ME then through ME2, one at a time? Or are you completing ME with all 15 then playing ME2 with all 15? Either way: IMPRESSIVE.

If she was the stereotype for a turian, then wouldn't she not follow Shepard on the Normandy? Unless BW decided to allow ME3 to build an army and the turian female becomes the representative for the turian hegemony or something.

But I'll allow my ManShep to romance that female turian. I'm doing a Sheploo run now, and he's currently single at the moment (he loved Ashley, but he virmire'd her)

Why? Not why as in it's wrong, but why as to the thinking for that Shep?

Aaaaaaaaand the Archive of 2.0 has been updated to page 700. In the 600s, we had some silly, some interesting, an influx of Talimancers to hang out with and Blazen kept commenting on how we slowed down. :P
More than half way done with this archiving of 2.0... I'm actually thinking of going over the older threads and giving them some archive loving. We'll see.
Mew.

Also... this needs more pimpage.

I'm just about to make my first suicide run with my first ever ManShep - Vince the bastard - as I like to call him, I couldn't inflict him on a lovely turian female though, thats why he's romancing Miranda.

LOL, because my Sheploo likes strong women. Tali's he views as a sister, he think Miranda too plastic, Liara's too naive and Jack too unstable. That's if they decide to have a turian female LI option. Otherwise, my Sheploo is just plain single. XD

I'm such an evil person

I've enough interest in the Tali and Jack romances to consider dragging a MShep through ME1,I just...never quite get around to it. Not a Soldier, though. -Way- to archetypical. Probably an Adept so I can tweak the character to experiment with both on seperate playthroughs (seeing a "there but for the grace go I" in Jack as a high-spiking L3, while being rendered almost innumerate as a side effect of his implantation and thus utterly fascinated by engineers).

For whatever reason, in a computer RPG, I prefer playing female characters. Jade Empire, both KotORs, ME1&2, Fallouts 1-3, Dragon Age (though I just don't give enough of a damn to get out of Lothering, for some reason I can't explain) - it's always been like this (as I totally date myself with Fallout 1 being on the list). In any other style of game it doesn't much matter to me, since they're just a way I get to interact with the gameplay. Dead Space, for instance - does anybody give a damn about Isaac besides the fact they want to finish the game? He doesn't even have a speaking part, let alone an identifiable gender role beyond a male body model.

To get my last FemShep away from Garrus? Oof, tough one. Compassionate Renegade and hard-edged Paragon really fit together beautifully - if she'd been a Spectre at the time, Harkin might have gotten one in the kneecap two years ago for his bad attitude and habitual corruption.

It'd have to be something completely out of character, I think - something like Zaeed pulled on Zorya. Something tactically sound but completely reckless, unilaterally co-opting the mission for his own goals while they're actually boots on the ground. And even that's because it reveals not enough trust to bring it to her first and not enough faith that she'll do everything in her power to make that happen. By the Normandy's spirit, Garrus...she thought her belief in you was obvious.
