Bioware don't seem to shy away from same sex pairings in DA (from what I've gathered - please enlighten me if I'm wrong) but have seemed to have freaked out about it in ME. Strange.

Mass Effect is so much more mainstream the Dragon Age theyre probably worried about Fox News throwing a hissy fit about videogames trying to "TURN OUR CHILDREN GAY!!!"
Look how well they handled the love scenes in ME1. Now imagine if they saw it with two men.

Yes! The *OMG WHY CAN"T THEY THINK OF THE CHILDREN* response, gotta love FOX.

Sometimes I feel ashamed that I come from Rupert Murdoch's home town, the birthplace of his empire *shudders*

Fox throwed a hissy fit with Liara and BW tried to make so many excuses, even going as far to contradict real science and in game lore :pinched:

I rather the scenes be more emotinal, then fade to black. There we go, no hurting the children! :wizard:

I wonder why they decided to make Gavorn homosexual. It probably has little other meaning then wanting to make people laugh.
Of course we could also see him in ME3. We could give him thresher maw scales and he can make us armor. All the while his human boyfriend will complain about him alienating the paying customers.
Thats right a Dragon Age reference.

Can we get him to fix Garrus's armour then?

No wonder, since they both can drink the same wine that Garrus brought in the romance with FemShep...

As I have failed to make it even a 1/6 way through DA I'm afraid I've got no idea what you're talking about Theo!

I thought it was just me!  So you didn't finish it either?

And this Garrus/TalTal pic?

I started DA, but I'm such a FPS nerd that some of the turn based combat threw me out a little. I kept getting switched over to the dog or to a mage or to whatever and my poor brain got confused. Then I got annoyed, then I went meh, and went back and played ME2 again with my fave turian. Plus I wanted to hear my warden speak, which she didn't. Someone told me the PC version is better, but it's still around $60 on Steam and I didn't want to spend money on a game I already own.

Heh, I'm a doofus.  I bought the PC version of Oblivion (and add-on) and then the 360 version of Oblivion (and add-ons).  But I still haven't gotten above level 4 of DA.

Garrus, now.  I'm addicted.

I loved Oblivion, one of my faves, 360 version. I thought DA was going to be more like that. So just went back to ME. What's a rapid fangirl to do!

I like that Garrus and Tali shot.

DA was more of a classic RPG like BG2 and such. Its nice to see that BW made DA before embracing this new road for there RPGs.

I like DAO. ME taught me that I don't need a lot of that old school RPG stuff, but I enjoy some of that stuff as well. If tactical combat, inventories, detailed leveling, and all that stuff were to fade away, I could deal, but it would make me a little sad all the same. The main thing I disliked about DAO was the handling of combat. The complexity was fine, but the actual feel of combat was very sluggish. I did miss full VO I must admit. ME kind of spoiled me there.

As for Garrus not being in ME3, I've said before I could be okay with that as long as they gave him something awesome to do. I don't want him to just show up for five minutes of exposition. I want his role to be important and to get to talk to him quite a bit.

I'm willing to give DA another go, I think I could really like it once I got into it, but too many games too little time...

Dragon Age is a game you need a lot of time for, playing one or two hours at a time wont get you past a few conversations.

It had great writing though. I loved it.

Mass Effect is still much better though.

DOH Posted Image I knew that would happen.

Okay back ot.  In regard to a previous possible starting discussion point I made earlier - If Garrus' team were successful and still alive would he have joined the Normandy?

Would he join Shepard if he thought he could do more good staying on Omega?

Or if he was successful at C-sec or had become a Spectre would he have joined?

I think if he thought the reapers were a real threat he would hand over the reins on Omega to one of his trusted team.

However, If he was still with C-Sec or had become a Spectre I'm not so sure.

Thoughts, opinions?

I'm pretty sure that Garrus would join shepard regardless, and if he was having second thoughts at least some of his squad would urge him to do it.

I think him not liking C-Sec and failing at becoming a Spectre is fine, its just his team dieing. It really feels like BW didn't know how to integrate him in the squad and decided to do the old my team died and I want revenge.

I think that half the squad dieing or some surviving would have been better since it gives Garrus something to fight for and it makes him going after Sidonis(sp) more flavor.

Well he did have to put all of his buddies in body bags .

Also how he carved their names into his visor and burning out Sidonis's name was really cool.

I think the problem I have is that the revange thing is done so many times. it just felt meh to me. I think they could have still done it but had some people survive, even one person comnig to help Garrus during his personal mission ect. Extra things like that to make it fresh and not old.

Most of the squadmates were about revenge anyway. Though its a pretty easy plot to use. And in Garrus's case I don't know how they would have written a non-revenge type of back story for him. Unless they just cut out the entire squadmate back story and he would have just been a lone wolf.
