Yeah, there are some characters and romances that don't interest me either, but the Shepards do. Liara, however, will have to wait a long time before her romance ever happens intentionally in my game. Still annoyed about the romance trap. On the bright side, an extra playthrough of ME1 means more Garrus (who my MaleShep won't get to talk with much in ME2) and more Saren. Unfortunately, an extra playthrough of ME1 means watching Saren kill himself again. Win some, lose some.
I think it's awesome how Garrus seemed to learn from my Renegades in ME2. He does the same things on Omega if the Shepard is Paragon, but it means a lot to hear him say "I learned from the best."
The farthest I ever got with Liara was with that "pick one" chat in the comm room...which I found surprising and amusing since I specifically told her I wasn't interested in her and just wanted to be friends. Apparently "no means no" doesn't translate well to asari.
Do you play mostly as a Renegade? I guess it feels...more fluid with Garrus in ME2. When Paragon'd, Garrus only mentions he tried going back to C-Sec, but other than it, it's lagely the same. Plus, he seems to be the only one even relatively on your side when you keep the base. Even those who would side with you before you do it--namely Grunt and Legion--flip-flop when you talk to them afterwards.
I romance Garrus as a Paragon (maybe that means I like to "fix" my men, lulz), but my Renegade...he truly is my brotoge.
...I guess, to justify the Paragon side, in ME1 I found "I've never met anyone like you," more satisfying--ironically-- than "That was...satisfying"
