To be honest, I just think turians are far too interesting as a species to sacrifice Codex entries/facts/scenarios that could arise from having Garrus around in ME3. Although, to be honest, quarians, geth, salarians, etc. are also fascinating.

edit.  Hasn't been posted in a while, it's the top of the page, the picture kicks butt, and the mod doesn't mind.

The lack of proper punctuation makes me laugh at this comic far more than I should.

Pffft. And people keep saying Thane doesn't look like a fish. Now, before anyone jumps on me for saying that, let me just say that I understand Thane is supposed to be reptillian-like...and I acknowledge his reptillian-like features...but DEM LIPS make him look like a fish.

Suddenly, I am upset with this comic upon realizing that the artist did not put any blue face paint features on Garrus.

Random observation: My poll about what Tali's and Garrus's status should be in ME3 (squadmates or cameos or not in the game at all) seems to have people about equally divided among those who don't want both in their squads. This may change by tomorrow now that I posted a comment about it, but at the moment I'd say Garrus is about equally popular to Tali, despite his fan thread being smaller. In fact, considering that a few more people would want him in their party with Tali as a cameo appearance, he's slightly more popular. If I made a post just asking which character people liked better, I'm pretty sure Tali would win out, but I'm still surprised at the results thus far.

I know that there are people who don't like either character, and plenty of people who are weirded out by the alien romance thing, but even if you don't romance them, it's hard for me to hate them when they're presented as Shepard's friends in-game. That said, I'm not sure I'd be comfortable hanging out with someone in real life who more or less cheered himself every time he shot someone. That would be a bit frightening. But in-game Garrus is awesome, and I don't get the same best friend vibe from Tali as from him.

Edited to add:  Most people seem to be against cameos by and large.  I guess the surest way to get rid of a character you don't care for is to kill them.  Not many people would rather see a character be a cameo than a squadmate, and I'm not sure if these people really would prefer that, or if they have other reasons.  However, if Bioware pays attention to polls such as this, and not to mention many forum posts, perhaps we don't have to worry as much about Garrus being relegated to cameo status.  However I personally think the devs will do what they do, no matter what we players think.

erm hi all *shy wave*, a garrus fan here of whom i support all the way from Australia. i'm still a newbie to the forums thoughPosted Image. i've gotta thank Aimo's art for getting me started on Mass Effect, i truth i just wanted the Garrus romance but got a whole lot more instead. i'm not sure how it precisely happened but i got the first game for free, i'm not complaining mind Posted Image. still reading through the original thread now i've found a new one, but i'm alternating between nodding in agreement and rolling on the floor laughing. umm so again, hi, from the land down under

I think Garrus would work best with Renegons or Paragades. Renegon fits more with the "compassionate Renegade" description I've read for him. (Who called him that anyway, a writer or dev?)

I think I mentioned this in another thread, but I really love Garrus as an example of the difference between Renegade and Evil. He's like the ideal of the compassionate renegade -- going in hot to take down the guys threatening Dr. Michel, for example. He wants to help people, wants to stop the big bad guy and save the galaxy and protect the innocent, and he doesn't have time for rules and regulations that slow him down.

Thank you very much, I'm the regular australian/tasmanian who prefers the cold rather than summer. But anyway onto Garrus. I feel that BW has left it confusingly open as to which characters are returning etc so i'm just going to sum up my opinion for squadmates for ME3:
Tali: Likely to be a squadmate/continue romance, theres still the issues with the flotilla going to war with the geth despite my femshep's insistance on saying "Hold it off for a while longer for the Reapers instead of the Geth". I get the feeling that Tali may get her father's seat on the admirilty board if shep saved her from being exiled, or join the Normandy crew permanently if they did not. also we don't know that much about her childhood except for the bubble thing and her parents a bit.
Liara: May return, but probably not as a squadmate, after the Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC got released and she took over the job, i get the feeling that she'll be too busy to really help out, but i think she'll be useful to provide information to lead Shepard in the right direction. Probably get a continued romance scene in the end.
Samara: same as Liara, since she said that as soon as the collectors was done she would be returning to her Justicar duties, but she may return for a mission or two to give Shepard some aid.
Mordin: Likely-ish to be squadmate, i'm not overly sure if he has anywhere to head off to after the collectors mission but i feel pretty sure he'll stay on board due to his liking of working under pressure.
Kaiden/Ashley: Sure to return and probably be as a squadmate, since the cheating thing was emphasised by BW, i'm pretty sure that they'll return begging after it was proven that Shepard was right. the entire situation still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth though.
Wrex: Will return probably not as a squadmate though, i think he'll stay behind on Tuchanka and prepare the remaining Krogan for battle and lead them as a separate army. since he was so focused on uniting the clans and trying to maintain some kind of balance between them.
Miranda/Jacob: likely to be squadmates and will return, since they left TIM and joined Shepard, both will continue romance options i reckon.
Jack: Likely to be squadmate, then again i might be wrong and she'll go off somewhere only to have Shepard run into her again, or have her come back on a whim and leave again. i can't see her sitting still though.
Grunt: Almost Positive return as well as being squadmate: Shepard's his battlemaster, i can see Grunt returning to Tuchanka after everything if the galaxy is saved, and helping Wrex restore the krogan
Zaeed: Not likely to return at least as a squadmate, despite the fact that he was a DLC i don't see him returning to the Normandy, since he was paid to join it in the first place. I expect that he'll either go back to leading the blue suns (If shep chose renegade option during his LM) or continue his vendetta against the traitor in his past. to which he may either make the news or request Shepard's help again.
Kasumi: Same as Zaeed, she'll have her own things to do/steal but i think she'll either make the news or suddenly appear on the ship just to scare everybody.
and last but not least Garrus: Same as Tali, his is the most open ended romance out of them all, i'm hoping BW is going to make up for the fact that there wasn't quite a complete romance scene, more diologue from him is needed and a bit more explaination into his past. the most we know is some of his cases in C-Sec, some aspects of his father and a little bit about what happened during the 2 years since Shepard died. My confidence in his re-appearence is boosted somewhat after Liara speaks to Shepard, after she has romanced Garrus and completed Lair of the Shadow Broker, about Garrus and is she doing this for him. As well as the files that Shepard gets as part of that mission about him. It finally explains what the visor does (apparently it also acts as a MP3, Garrus likes his dancemixesPosted Image), the people he killed on Omega and what they did as well as a conversation between himself and a female turian named Solana (if i have the name right) and they speak about Garrus' mother being sick. Also obvious is that he hasn't told his family what he is up to, regarding omega and Shepard etc.

I'd personally like to see more revealing points about Shepard's history, e.g visiting Mindoir, meeting Shepard's mother and having a mission with her or taking down Fist (if left alive from ME1 and Shepard has earthborn background) or another member from her old gang. as well as somethings revolving around her psychological background, like Toombs from the Sole Survivor background (if left alive) etc. Also maybe give players the chance to rescue Shepard from something from the point of view of one of her team mates, similar to warden being stuck in prison in DA:O.

whew, long ramble. have i covered everything? but thanks for the warm welcome

Whee, another Aussie! :D Welcome Fallele!

As for Fist, I usually kill him. Only used the Gibbed Save Editor once to see what happens of Fist was kept alive on Omega. Usually I take Wrex with me for that part of the game, along with Kaidan who saying "Oh my god!" when Wrex kills Fist.

well on my first ever playthrough on Mass Effect i didn't take Wrex with me (i didn't like him much back then, but he's grown on me now what with his family armor sidemission and side jokes) but i didn't import that particular save, especially since it was on my dad's computer (i upgraded mine since then). from what i've seen, if you let Fist live, he sends you an email in ME2 saying how much you've ruined his life. (i still think he dug that grave for himself) so if he lives i'm expecting him to take out somekind of insane revenge plot in ME3.

Fist compared to Garrus...he is a small weak man the size of a drinkbottle in comparison to the awsomeness that is garrus. I also found out recently that Joker's voice is in Robot Chicken Starwars about halfway through. My favourite part in the original mass effect though is Femshep trying to dance. LOL it doesn't work out well

Yeah, Joker is Seth Green. He actually created the Robot Chicken series.

Anyway, I think Garrus beats Shepard on the dance floor any day.

well hawtdamn, he just needs the cap and there you go he's Joker in the flesh

Edit: @nekhbet
he does, he does. i think if i was my shep i'd happily take a few concussive rounds just to be at the bottom of a ladder if Garrus was climbing. and as a secondary wish to have the power to flip him off for taking down my shields and scaring me twice during his recruitment mission.Posted Image

If you spare Fist, he's actually hanging out in Afterlife on Omega. I ran into him with my Paragon Adept. My Garrus girl didn't let him live, though.

I'm pretty sure Robot chicken hasn't done andy Mass Effect parodies yet.
And to keep this on track with Garrus, one of the nice ladies in Clan V (Chimervera) found this
Garrus's name means honor or .. wait for it.... the prize! :o

Hi everyone,
Sorry for the abrupt post. I have a simple question regarding the Garrus romance. I used the paragon interrupt during the romance scene which lead to the head bump and fade to black. Post suicide mission, however, I do not have the option to call Garrus up to the cabin and when I speak with him he has the same conversation about wanting to you know.....as if he never did meet Shepard in her cabin. Did the game somehow skip over the romance because of bug or should I have not performed the paragon interrupt?

Did you check the terminal in Shepard's cabin next to her message terminal? There should now be two options on the upper desk - one for the private terminal and the computer next to it will call Garrus up for cuddles etc :-)

No, and I can't imagine why it hasn't.  Green may just not want to bite the hand that feeds him occasionally. ;)  Besides, you can't parody Garrus, he's too awesome. (See how I kept it on topic?)

This happens to me all the time.  Just go talk to Garrus again and it will go through the loop "part of me still thinks we're crazy" conversation.  Reaffirm the romance and then go back up to your quarters and you should be able to click on  a computer near the case full of ship models.  It will say "invite Garrus up."  I hate that bug.  It's really annoying.

Also, the devs didn't bother to give Garrus any new post O4 romance dialog. It's super annoying. We whine about that here all the time.

Also, welcome fallele.  We have a lot Aussies here.
