Renegade Garrus breaks my heart, with the LotSB info. It's something I would only do For Science.
What I loved about Garrus was the whole compassionate Renegade thing. He's much more of a heart person, and I really liked that in contrast to my Shep's Spock-ish tendencies. I feel like an actively Renegade Garrus loses some of that warmth; he's still got the emotional core for why he does what he does, but it's fueled by anger and revenge (however justified) and clouds some of his compassion.
Overall no matter what Shep does, I think Garrus both becomes more mature and loses some of his ME1 idealism and immediate warmth. Growing pains and all

Yeah, it's not like he'll keel over and die, or become a sociopath if you renegade him. He does grow. That's why I'm able to renegade him on this For Science run I'm doing.Sable Rhapsody wrote...

Paragon/Jack's is very sweet, and if you think the rejection for Garrus is harsh, even people who dislike Jack have mentioned in the comments section (for the upload I saw) they felt horrid at her reaction. Tali's always makes me laugh at the end (and not because it's badly done, just by what happens)Evelinessa wrote...
At first I was disapointed with the scene because I ended up reading spoilers and alot of people were unhappy with it. But once I saw the scene it was really touching and I haven't seen the other romances yet but I know this will be my favorite(he's my favorite character and the romance feels so natural, and I wanted to romance him in the first game).
One thing that did strike me when I saw (unspoilered, yay!) Garrus' scene was the poses/actions mirrored a work aimo (yes, the great aimo of deviantart fame) had done that if my memory serves, was done several weeks before the game. Specifically the forehead touching.
Yeah, I definitely want to try the other romances. But when I get to the point where I have the option to start the romance with Garrus I'm going to have a hard time not picking it.

@ Evelinessa: the second option was the correct one. i couldn't find a cookie so here's Garrus with a cupcake instead
Yay! And.. yum.. cupcakes.
For people here who played both games:
Did you like Garrus' character more in ME2 then in ME1?
Did you like him equally?
Did you like him less?
Did you like him at all in ME1(I heard of some people who never liked him. Then in ME2 he becomes their favorite character)?
Did you want to romance him in ME1?
Garrus was my favorite character in ME1 and I wanted to romance him but I never took him with me aside from Dr. Saleon. In ME2 I liked him alot more. It helped that I could romance him and I took him on every mission. On my second playthrough of ME1 that I'm currently playing I'm going to have him in my squad at all times. I can't decide who else to bring though...

Q1) Yeah, after the two years and fighting Saren and all seemed to have mellowed him out a bit in ME2 in comparison to ME1. though i did like hearing the stories that he had from C-Sec. I'm hoping that in ME3 that he'll more throughly explain why he left again rather than give a short and somewhat blunt answer. though i can tell he's not the whole "speaking feelings" type
Q2: He still rates high on my level of like along with Alistair from DA:O (thank you Aimo for starting my Garrus fanship!)
Q3: NA
Q4: ummm i spent many happy minutes absently staring as he went to fix the mako...followed by strange dreams of turian hips XD
Q5: i think it would have been a bit too soon judging by how the other LI's practically threw themselves at Shepard. i heard that theres been many issues with accidently romancing Liara when people just wanted to get to know her.
So for taking the time to know Garrus before jumping in i approve, now i just wanna see him climb a ladder at some point XD. But no on a more serious note, i'd really like to see the romance grow more, and see from a FemShep and MaleShep perspective according to background some support.
for example Garrus supporting Shepard with the other "meet the Parents" moment for the Spacer background (with some inuendoes according to Shepard's LI tossed in...especially if its Garrus), a return to Mindoir for colonist Shepard and Shepard showing Garrus what the slums are really like back on Earth. For both Mindoir and Earth Shepard telling Garrus (or LI who happens to be there) what life was like.
Just for extra bonus to lighten the mood (...and because i just love this thing):

That is hilarious. Did any of you read my story? It's with a M-Shep so not a romance (none of my stories will ever be romances) but Garrus does visit with his family and conflict with his father.
The links are in my sig for those that are interested. If you don't have a fanfiction.net account please read the Bioware version, I want to hear feedback if at all possible.

Did I like Garrus more in ME2 than ME1? It's hard to say. On the one hand, I really liked him in ME1 both as a combat companion and as a character. I liked that he was the only character you could shape and really influence out of all of them.
But on the other hand, I really enjoyed the Old Friends vibe I got from the relationship and I thought that it really added to the game for me. The fact that he only has like three conversations if you play as a male is a detractor, but by far his line about reach and flexibility was my favorite of any squadmate.
So I don't know if I can objectively assess whether I liked him better in ME2 because of the way he developed or because of the connection I had from the first game.
I did like him in ME1, as already stated, both because of his combat prowess (HMWAR X with high explosive rounds FTW!) and also because of his relationship to Shepard.
He also looks totally awesome. I've come to understand that when a guy says another guy looks cool or awesome, a girl would look at the same guy and call him handsome. I'll be darned if I call him handsome though.

@Guardian Angel: i took a glance at your fanfic...i quite enjoyed it, and learned a few facts that i didn't know about until a short while ago...and then looked up. on my personal score i give the fanfic a 7/10. it's gotten me thinking about doing my own, but i'm going to see how an altered retelling from a FemShep's POV is going to go. any ideas would be useful though.
by the way, i do really like that picture
COPYRIGHT INFRINGMENT!!!
But seriously, I can't help too much with the femshep angle, I've never played as one. He's always been my best bud/second in command Garrus so I would have a hard time trying to make him a romance option.
But you could have an encounter with Shepard and Garrus' father, there would be some tension there no doubt. His father probably fought in the First contact war so his son being in a relationship with a human, let alone a spectre, let alone a person that he thinks is working for terrorists would no doubt set him off.
So there is potential for drama there. You could also include how Shepard's influence helps Garrus finally stand up to his father in either a protective or defensive way. I can't see a femshep needing it but hey, us guys are suckers for women in trouble.

Does anyone know what Liara says/does if you cheated on her with Garrus? Is there a video of it?
I didn't and don't really want to pay for the DLC, at least, not right yet.

I didn't see it myself but she says:
"Yes, you came back! And now, Garrus is doing a lot more than just calibrating the Normandy's guns!"
I think it's sort of like BioWare is making fun of themselves for giving him such little dialogue.
I'll go look for a video.

I looked but didn't find one myself, was hoping there was one known. Hmm... either way, I saved right before getting the reaper IFF, and I have two finished save games: one where I was loyal to Liara, and one where I did Garrus.
I realized just how much I liked Garrus when I reloaded the save, started to romance Thane, and then romanced Garrus anyway.

I really hope that's not all she has to say about you cheating on her, maybe they're just saving the rest of her thoughts for later DLCs or ME3.

Yeah, I want to try all the romances but I'm going to have a hard time not picking Garrus. Right now I'm replaying ME1 and I'm going to romance Liara and stay loyal to her. I'm going to have alot of playthroughs by the time ME3 comes out, mostly to try all the romances. But I'm planning to have multiple ones with the Garrus romance and his romance will be the first one I carry into ME3.
This has spoilers, but this is a video of what Liara says about the Garrus romance after the DLC. This isn't the cheating dialogue.
I don't know how to name the links.

There's also what she says after she is made the SB. If you invite her up to your quarters, she has something to say. Try asking the Liara thread, I think it was there I saw the links for this stuff.

I loved the Liara romance in ME1... when I got into ME2 and figured out I could romance Garrus, I was all over it... However, the last scene was like Bioware smashing my face into the desk to represent their giant facepalm towards my liking that romance. Put simply, it was a bit of a disappointment to me, but even still, I think those are the two best romances so far. If hers ends anything like Viconia's in ME3 (what with her being the new shadow broker), however, I think it will win over his... Allow me a 10 second head start to hide from everyone in this thread.

Perfect, and thank you IndellibleJester, I now know how to post links as words.
You two should read my fanfiction. The Numerator did an excellent review of it in my Fan Fiction Question thread, just don't read it first or you'll get spoilers.
Garrus finally deals with his father and his self confidence issues as well as progressing the overall Fight the Reapers strategy. There are some excellent twists and some good action scenes.
Sorry, no romance, I play Maleshep and I don't ever plan on doing a romance. My Fan fiction Shepard is stoically single.

Wall of text....
Well I accidently read spoilers on the romance scene on Gamefaqs before I saw it and alot of people were complaining. So I was disapointed even before I saw it. But when I actually saw it myself I thought different. Well I was a little disappointed at first then I thought about it and now I feel that the scene is better because it's just the headbump. I think it's more romantic and touching then just flashes of different sex stuff. It may be because I think it's more meaningful. And it could also be that I just don't like seeing sex and stuff like in movies, tv, games.. and whatever. They may put an actual sex scene in ME3 though since I think alot of people who romanced him are disappointed with the scene. That is if they actually have scenes for ME1/2 romances. They may just have scenes for the new romances.
