Hehehehehe!!! A bit like me then! I have just registered and went straight to this thread to show how a great a character I think Garrus is. And I can't say how great he is without sharing one particular quote from ME1: 'Some believe that Krogan testicles can increase their virility, it doesn't work, but that won't stop them from buying. They will pay up to 10,000 credits each, that's 40,000 for a full set!' *pauses to consider the implications of this* 'Someone is picking a killing out there...'Giggles_Manically wrote...

Kaidan is deffinetly dull compared to Garrus. Garrus just lights up any room he's in and is the life and soul of the party.
But then, he has some really tragic lines just to express how much of a multi-layer character (with just a bit of comedy to it.)
Garrus: 'Over the years I have become accustomed to the smell of burning bodies.'
Grunt: 'Anyone else hungry?'
Garrus: 'Err, Grunt you may want to keep comments like that to yourself. The Krogan are unpopular as it is.'
Rare dialogue - cracks me up!

I love his comeback about fun places to fight in on the Mordin loyalty mission. Yeah, I really like Garrus.

I'd guess you'd have to pick up Grunt before Mordin to get that, which I never do (I always do Omega first). Nice find.

I do like the Garrus romance, its funny, sweet, and touching all at the same time.

I found it VERY odd that only Tali and Jacob got special dialogue after the suicide mission. What were bioware thinking?! Garrus, one of the most popular characters in the series, having only 3 convos if you don't romance him was bad enough but then they don't even treat the rest of the LI's equally either! Bizarre.
I don't think BioWare were counting how many conversations each character got, then adding more for the sake of parity. I think they probably left the conversation flow up to the writers. And like I said earlier, I wasn't feeling the sappy when I chatted to Garrus after the suicide mission. So when Garrus was like, "ZOMG SO BADASS" I was like, "Yep!" *fistbump* It does seem like a Garrus thing to do, get all excited over how awesome you were during the suicide mission. D'aww, Garr-bear
But generally speaking, the non-leading LI characters (Tali, Jack, Thane, Garrus) do tend to get a little gipped out of conversations if you're not romancing them or the wrong gender. Which is more than a little sad.

Garrus unique enough? I don't want to make it hard on the kid but that'd be the best name he could have.

When I eventually have a kid I want to name him Kirk, after what I named my canon Shep, and if its a girl, Miranda, after my favorite LI and squadmember.
But if Garrus was an acceptable name Id name him that.

I could just give him a badass first name and make the last name Vakarian? Then I can say you're named after the two most badass people. One's fictional and one's me!

Not to intrude too much, but maybe name him after a dead relative? You would seem thoughtful that way. Then give him the name Garrus or Vakarian as a middle name.
Best idea I've heard so far. Thanks for the help lol I probably would have scarred the poor kid for life.

Served in WWII in the RAF. Good way to commemorate his grandfather and give him a cool name.
Just thinking about a last name now damn I suck at this lol

Anyways thanks for the help, I have get to my Bio lab early tomorrow for some research discussion. so g'night. I'll update tomorrow if anyone's interested.

Sounds awesome.
And no one would know that you named him after video game characters. Just say that Vakarian is a great Roman general and Lawson just sounds cool. No one would be the wiser. Unless they look up "vakarian" on google. Then youve got some 'splainin to do.
EDIT: I guess Lawson is a no-go. Darn.

Oh I'll tell them where I came up with it but I don't think they would mind, it sounds like a reasonable name. *sigh* This is why my ex's said I'd make a horrible father, I just don't know what to do lol. Oh well.
EDIT: Don't worry man, I'll tell them both options they can decide which one if any they would like.

I tried to turn Garrus down at the medical clinic.
I didn't play ME until very recently and since I'm all over these boards, I knew that Garrus would be romanceable eventually. Still, I couldn't see the appeal in screenshots so I imagined that I'd probably end up being a Kaidan fangirl.
Imagine how surprised I was when I found myself thinking Kaidan was dull out of the gates and Garrus was vastly more interesting. As a matter of fact, I think I was frustrated with the lack of Garrus romance before Shepard was made a Spectre. Fortunately, as someone whose preferred DA LI isn't even a canon LI, just knowing it would happen eventually was enough.
And I think knowing gave me a lot to roleplay in ME. It felt very much like the friendship developed in ME was laying the groundwork for more, without it feeling too predetermined. My Shep ended up with Liara in ME and I was thinking I might stay faithful, but her attitude on Illium (and all the conversations around Illium about Asari and their mates) coupled with the fact that Garrus had always been my FemShep's true partner made turning to him seem very natural.
Yeah, I ended up playing them one after the other too.
I romanced Kaiden in ME1 but I always thought he was dull. I was going to go for Liara but since the relationship with Kaiden was already sort of started by then I stuck with him. It was very easy for me to cheat on him with Garrus.
Yes the romance feels very natural.

I like how Garrus character developed from ME1 to ME2. In ME1 he was more stiff, but in ME2 his character became more, well - versatile - with both tragic and funny moments and aspects, but all of it appears to be so natural. Oh ok, I just realise that it is hard to explain everything that is so fascinating about him, just because there are so many aspects and reasons why he is so fascinating... but of course you know yourself
Like Joker says "looks like Garrus finally worked that stick out of his butt and now he's beating guys to death with it".
But I always thought he was a great character.
On my first playthrough of ME1 I never took him with me except to Dr. Saleon, Virmire, and to the end of the game. But for the rest of my playthroughs I'll bring him with me. He was still my favorite character though.

Yeah, I don't like it. Hopefully he is a squadmate/LI in ME3 and he gets just as much conversations as everyone else(hopefully more) and the romance is treated fairly. I think alot of people complained about him having to do "calibrations" all the time so if he is in ME3 they should give him more dialogue. I still don't like them even having leading romances it just makes it seem like those romances are treated better. And I don't think it would have been that hard to give each LI one line of dialogue instead of just Tali and Jacob.

"part of me still thinks we're crazy for even considering...blowing off steam"
If the last bit of dialogue from each LI character has to continuously loop, wouldn't it have made even more sense for all of them to have post mission romance dialogue and then have THAT loop instead? It was just REALLY lazy IMO and it felt like a glaring continuity error every time I spoke to garrus after the suicide mission, sure he comes up to your cabin but even THAT was a copy and paste feature! His head was clipping halfway into the pillow! I was so annoyed at Garrus’s case of Alzheimer’s that I wished they had the decency to make his post mission dialogue the thing that looped rather than his pre-romance scene dialogue.
