Before ME2 was released, and even before I found the forums, I had no doubt that Garrus would be a squadmate in ME2. I didn't understand why everyone else was worried about it. By the time I found out about the forums, everyone was already talking about Garrus being a romance option and there was video proof up on youtube. So I was definitely happy about it. I bought ME2 on day one and played until I recruited Garrus. I knew about Archangel, the gunship and scars too, so I wasn't worried.

And did anyone noticed the CGI trailer for ME2 at the end, you can see Garrus' profile pic from ME1 from Illusive Man's screen?

Oh god, you spared yourself some utter insanity. Not that the insanity now has died down much--in fact, I think I love Garrus more each time I play the game, write for the meme, etc. But seriously, we were on emotional roller-coasters for a few months, wondering if Garrus was dying of some awful disease (thanks, Thane, buddy, for taking the fall on that one
I can't wait for the insanity pre ME3.

And I'll have to pay more attention to that opening scene the next time I play ME2. I've watched it a few times, but never noticed Garrus on one of the screens.

Garrus is very well liked, for sure. I think a lot of that is because it's easy to be friends with Garrus if a romance doesn't interest you. The other characters, not so much - with very few exceptions.

I have Shepards planned for each romance, but if Garrus wasn't an option, then Thane definitely would have been my favorite option for FemSheps. Not sure who would have been my favorite overall though, Thane or Tali. Garrus has no competition for my overall favorite romance as of now. The only way he could have competition is if they brought back Saren, let us recruit Kai Leng, made my Earthborn Ruthless into a squadmate, or something like that. xD

I would've kept my canon FemShep single (or used fanfiction to rectify the problem) if Garrus hadn't been a romance. She got along surprisingly poorly with Thane; they just really did not see eye to eye, especially on his whole "my body did it, not my soul" schtick. Kaliya's an atheist, so that sat really well with her
I think Garrus might have competition if Wrex is a squaddie again. My favorite reunion moment in ME2, even more than Archangel, was the look on Wrex's face when he pushes aside the krogan and greets you as an old friend. There is nothing more epic than Shep and Wrex's bromance.

I always imagine that Wrex-Shep-Garrus is the most dangerous three-person team in the galaxy.

Wrex deals with close range, Garrus deals with long range and Shepard, well, not much more to do for him/her except keeping count of the kills I guess.
I don't think I did a lot of shooting with my Adept in ME1. I had Garrus on sniper rifles, Wrex on shotguns. And I'd basically spam my biotics to crowd control everything, then wait for the boys to kill it with fire. They were my ace team. My feeling is that Wrex wasn't in the squad for ME2 because with him, new and badass Turian Space Batman, and Shep on a squad, the universe would explode with the sheer awesome.

Especialy if you give the boys scram rails and hi ex. That turns husk into a pile of ash a mile away.
I miss that dream team. As a whole, I liked the ME2 squaddies better than the ME1 squaddies, but I never had that perfect dream team in ME2. The closest I got was Garrus and Miranda, especially on Insanity. But it wasn't quite the same as having Wrex in all his awesomitude

Never Liara, used her once, f**king overpowered. She takes all the fun out of the game by instant stasising everyone leaving me to randomly clean up.

In ME2 Garrus and Thane were always my deadly duo.

Poor Miranda. I plan on romancing her, but ManShep's bromance with Garrus and Wrex will always be closer to his heart.
