What's that old saying? Don't bring a paragon to a revenge kill? Heh.

Never heard that saying before, but I like it. xD

If Shepard had a personal mission that involved revenge, Garrus would be a definite choice. For the second squadmate, probably Grunt for me. He'd think his battlemaster was awesome. (If I had Zaeed in my game, it would be him and Garrus with Shepard. The perfect vengeance team.)

I remember at least one person not liking Garrus because he was a "serial killer"

You're kidding.

Just about every main character in this game is a serial killer. The only ones I can think of who might me innocent in that sense are Tali, Liara, and Grunt. Everyone else is either a soldier or has been part of some kind of massacre. Hell, Thane and Zaeed are PAID to kill =\\

That makes no sense whatsoever.

Haha thats awesome.

I don't think so, lovgreno...but I'm very, very biased. XD
Seriously,
though, I think part of it is that he's such a cool character by
design, there's little people can find to hate, other than falling back
on the tired old "whiny" thing...He's brave, intelligent, stalwart,
perfectly flawed, tormented by his past decisions, scarred (so not
'perfect'), has a history with Shepard, conflicted about his turian
heritage--in short, just so interesting how could people truly hate
him?? :3

The moment I saw Nihlus, the  design/concept for the Turian species became my instant fave alien species from all sci-fi I have seen. Thankfully Garrus filled the spot of 'fragging awesome looking alien' in ME

Also, thanks for everyone for the nice comments on the picture I posted the other day, heres a coloured version:

The face tattoo I made up, but I tried to keep it some what believable to what is seen in-game.
It is also on my DeviantArt page but I don't have much ME fan-art.

Even though Grunt hasn't been involved in any battles before his time with Shepard, he is a natural killer. Actually, he's one of the few who feels like he has an absolute need to kill and really enjoys it. Unlike Garrus, who kills for justice (but still enjoys it to a certain extent).

Same for me. And your turian painting is awesome. The tattoo looks great.

I better stay at home then, I'm so paragon I got blue scars.
Seriously though, all this revenge stuff in ME2 was a bit silly. Shep and Garrus should know that there are more important things to do. Vengefull psychos like Zaeed and Jack should never been allowed on board the Normandy.

Hey, I like the revenge missions. xD And it's not like Garrus' quick revenge kill takes away from the mission. In fact, it takes away from the mission if his problems aren't solved in some way... so this particular revenge kill can help squadmates stay alive in the suicide mission.

I like Zaeed too. Unfortunately, he's not in my game because he's DLC, but I would rather have him on the team than most of the other squadmates. I saw his loyalty mission on youtube (the Renegade path), and it was awesome. He reminds me of my favorite action movie characters. Jack is about halfway on the list of squadmates for me. She has an interesting past and I like both of her missions, but the way she talks to Shepard can annoy me at times.

But if there were options in ME3 to say that characters you don't like don't have to come along, that would be awesome.

sorry i'm catching up a bit xP.

I think that despite all the revenge stuff it adds to character depth, make them a little bit more realistic and provides a background for all the psychological stuff we talk about constantly.

As per the serial killer comment, all the characters have to shoot to kill since their enemy won't be taking the same pity on them. they don't have much of a choice in that.

Garrus being too popular comment, well that's (no offense meant) a little petty. as for the whiny one, i've never really noticed. but the same can be said for other characters of the game at one point or another. I've never found it to be a consistent thing.

the favs on my list or the ones i take out the most would be Garrus (he always takes up one side of my team) and usually Tali, Miranda or Mordin (and lately Kasumi, the cloak is awsome xD), the ones i take out a little less frequently are Jacob, Jack and Zaeed. The ones I haven't really used are Samara, Thane and Legion (Legion i haven't gotten yet)

I have a question. I wanted to know what everyones favorite saying Garrus has during battle? I don't have a favorite but I'm on my second playthrough now and I never really had him use his sniper riffle before. I mostly had him use the assault riffle. I was on Haestrom during the part with all the little drones and he was getting so many kills and I heard some sayings that I never heard before. Like I said I don't have a favorite yet but I thought the "I love this riffle" one was cute.

Also, does anyone have a video or know the quote of what Garrus says to Miranda during the suicide mission if Jack dies? I want to know but I can't find a video of it or find out what the quote is and I will never see it myself because I plan to never have a single squadmate die.

1. Some people don't like him because he's "too popular."
2. Another argument I've seen (besides whiny/angsty) is that Garrus is "incompetent" and has unrealistic ideas about how he change the galaxy, and in trying to fulfill those ideas, he ends up doing more bad than good.

In regard to people who dislike a character for being too popular, are in my humble opinion, pretentious wankers at most.  Give me an argument for not liking a character, but this is not one.
I've also seen a lot of people whine about Garrus' view of retributive justice, I can understand having issues with this up to a point, but to call him naive or incompetent also smacks of that same eltism that makes people not like him for being too popular.

I like quite a few Evelinessa but "one less to worry about" always makes me smile.

I totally approve this. Initially I wanted to kill Jack or Samara, but even considering that they're my less favourites it seemed a shame left anyone to die. They're always part of the crew and they enrich the ME universe, besides I like much more other characters. Like Garrus, off course.

About the fightin' quotes, the "I love this rifle" is one of my favourites too, but I don't care much of them. I'd preferred 100 times that chars had just 2 standar fightin' quotes and more personal dialogues, like in ME1.

I like the "I love this rifle" as well, but I love the "One less to worry about."  Garrus looks and sounds so sad and defeated when you find out he's Archangel and he sounds so happy when he says that combat line so it always makes me smile a bit.

As for what he says to Miranda if Jack is dead, I think it's along the line of
"Nobody here trusts you and will not be inclined to take orders from you."
Jack died on my first playthrough, I can reload that when I get home and see.

And as for the whole Sidonis thing. I didn't mean that he would be angry about it, I jsut meant that if you chose the "Ok let's go" line after you've let Sidonis go and Garrus says "I don't want to talk, not now." I would've liked the "I don't know what to do with gray" to be saved for a later moment.
Kind of like with Dragon Age. If you choose not to talk about something at the start of the game, the option to bring it up is still there. Eh, stress typing at work atm and not sure if I'm making any sense.

mmm video i can't help with sorry, but favourite saying would be "I love this rifle" and 'Never Saw Me Coming" xD gives me a big smile every time i hear it. My favorite in ME1? when he meets the thorian one of the two things he says 'that thing is huge" gets be laughing every time

though for Miranda, i don't know the direct quote, but basically put he states his opinion that Miranda doesn't have the leadership ability for that stage of the mission and that he doesn't trust her. but yeah there's not direct record of the conversation...how odd

I always choose the "renegade" option when I see him. I just don't like Hale's "Garrus!" exclamation. So he sounds a bit more tired in that option.

Yeah even if I hate a character I don't want to kill them. Besides me being too nice, I wouldn't want to cut content out of my ME3 playthrough and I would feel like a bad leader.

Yes when you have the time please reload it. Thank you :). With squadmates not trusting Miranda and I don't really think Jacob would be that great of a leader, it really makes Garrus seem like the most ideal choice for squad leader which I'm happy with.

Does anyone agree that Garrus seems like he is the best choice for squad leader? I know that Miranda and Jacob are a choice too.

(Sorry if that was hard to read I was having a hard time putting it into a sentence)

If you check clan v's thread directory discussion, you will find a list of links to the ME2 audiofiles, including the ones for Garrus.

Garrus should be cocky I think. He is smart, skilled, handsome and charming and he knows this very well. So his bragging about things like his sniping skills and good looks are totaly part of his charm.

This.  This is definitely the one solid truth in the universe ;)

I always pick Garrus to lead both fire teams.  Sure, he can't be in my party in order to do it, but I'm willing to make that sacrifice if it means he's the other leader.  I definitely trust him to lead over anyone else, especially Jacob and Miranda.
