As for Shepards dying or not at the end... Yeah, I doubt it will be REQUIRED that they die. Even though it would be the end of Shep's "story", that could probably mean s/he just finds some place to live his/her life where s/he won't be bothered by anymore galaxy-threatening beings of mass destruction.
Most of my own Sheps are probably planning to die, though. All Shepards are living on borrowed time, anyway--technically Shep is already dead, Cerberus just brought her back to get a job done.
And the more I think about it, the more I wonder if the Council/Citadel would be alright with allowing Shepard to go off and live somewhere under the radar even after defeating the Reapers. Like Grunt said, after defeating the most powerful things in the universe, that just leaves Shep and the team. Would the Council really let a team of people that could probably kick the ass of anyone or anything in the galaxy just WALK AWAY? It would be like our governments using a super-soldier to save the world, and then saying, "Oh, go ahead and live in peace somewhere now even though you could probably do whatever you want and no one could stop you."
HEAVY RISK.

Yes. There's even a Clan V banner floating around with it in the design.

I haven't played all of BioWare's games (yet), but from what I've read, none of them have forced the death of the player's character. The only reason I worry is because of I've seen people on the forums saying Shepard might die because ME3 is the end of Shepard's story. Although, I think DAO was the end of the Warden's story, and the Warden didn't need to be killed. So future Mass Effect games should just do what Dragon Age is doing - same universe, different time periods, old player character is not seen but world-changing decisions are carried over to the sequels. And yes, the Warden could talk about what he/she wanted in the future. Shepard and Liara can make future plans too, so I hope it's the same for all of the other romances.
Assuming that does happen, what kind of future plans would your Shepard want with Garrus? It would be nice if friends could have those conversations too - Garrus and MaleShep being Spectres and travelling around the galaxy to fight injustice would be an awesome ending.
Another thing I wouldn't like for the ending of ME3 would be that if we wanted to survive we have to sacrifice something really important like Earth or something. I plan on getting the best ending possible so I hope to get Shepard and all my squadmates out alive without having to sacrifice too much.
I really don't know what I want for future plans with Garrus. I know that I want it to be stated that we stay together and I would like to talk with Garrus about our plans instead of just reading text(the text can come afterwards. First I need to talk to him). I can't really say what would work for a future plan because we don't really know much about turian relationships. I just want more romance dialogue from him in ME3. Also I would like if other squadmates commented on the romance(like DA). I like what Kasumi said about the Garrus romance though. That was a step in the right direction.

If we get the options am hoping we do with regards squad and allied races, I actually think it is could be tough for me to get that ending (least to say I am hoping it is, unlike how the Suicide Mission went, when I went in with 8 and only lost 1).
@PrimalEden Yup, when I first heard that Infiltrators were getting Tactical Cloak I was bouncing around like a Tigger because with AI hacking as well I thought 'Now she'll be even more like the Major', then of course, fighting YMIR mechs, had to laugh as it reminded me of Motoko vs the Armed Suits. It's kind of funny because whilst obviously I consider her to be in a romance with Garrus, to me he is basically her Batou. Now... if only she can 'dominate' him to make him punch himself XD actually I think I did give her 'Dominate' as her bonus power
Can see Garrus talking in the future now... "I had reach, but she could dominate me.
I've got another FemShep am prepping for playing on PS3 version of the game, if the comic allows players to have a romance, then am thinking of having her initially romance Kaidan but then after Horizon and getting the e-mail feel disheartened and fall into the arms of the one guy who has stood by her. Only thing putting me off the idea is that it just seems weird that they didn't think to include any queries from either Garrus or Tali about getting involved with Shep if s/he is connected to Liara, Ash or Kaidan as surely they would know (unlike the others). Apologies if this topic has been discussed before, but it suddenly hit me as I was preparing my notes on the character and intended playthrough and figured would see what other peoples views on it is.

Yeah, my first playthrough was one where I romanced Kaidan in ME1 and then went with Garrus in ME2 and I was fully expecting Garrus to say something about Kaidan, but it never happened. I think they did it because (I don't know how to word this)people might be put off from that romance if their old LI is brought up or something. I don't know, I can't put what I'm thinking in words. They wanted all the romances to start off on even footing. I'm wondering how the ME1-ME2 LI conflict will turn out in ME3 or if we do get a VS DLC if Kaidan/Ashley will say something about the ME2 LIs just like Liara did.

That epilogue idea, I don't consider that Motoko is planning for that in the future, hell she is just as optimistic of their chances as Garrus is (which I think isn't that very high, but then again not low either), it's just how I'd like to see it end for her and him. Obviously unlike some of the other LI relationships, we aren't going to get the slightest chance of talking of the pitter patter of tiny feet (suddenly can't help but think of Mal Reynolds when saying that) or even seeing it, so a nice hug whilst staring off into the sky seems perfect. To quote a line from the movie which gave me the idea for that epilogue... they "found a small measure of peace that we all seek... but few of us ever find." had been trying to think of who would be narrating it, then the idea of us going full circle hit me and it just made sense that it would be Hackett and Anderson (if they survive ME3 too).

Yeah, I know it's impossible to have children with him. The reason I said that we don't know enough about turian relationships yet is because I've finished a few Garrus fanfictions and they all talk about the samethings about turian relationships like "bonding for life" and "marking". Since every fanfic I read has these I started to think if this was written somewhere in the codex or something(since I never read about anything like that). That's why I said we don't know enough about turian relationships because I don't even know if they have some kind of marriage rituals or anything else. But for me just having a scene to show that we're sticking together will be enough.

As for me the player, I want her to survive, and for her and Garrus to run around being badass Spectre power couple. I do want them to get married eventually and adopt kids--normally it's not something I'd go for with someone like Shep, but mine has been starved of family and intimacy her whole life. And the families you run into in ME are far from functional. I'd like to see her get a family eventually, sort of a Harry Potter-esque ending.

My eyes are really drawn to that symbol for some reason. I sent Meche Shepard in to talk to Garrus briefly (even though I already knew exactly what he'd say, I just wanted to hear him say it, lol), and I was staring at that insignia for most of the time. I don't know why.

Evelinessa: It's fanon. Not canon.
Lol, yeah I figured that none of it was canon but who started it because basically every fanfic I read has it at some point? I'm still new to fanfiction. My first fanfic I read was a Garrus romance one.

If anyone does any planning between Garrus and my FemShep, it'll have to be Garrus. She's spent her whole life cheating death time and again, but even she knows that her chances of survival in ME3 are slim to none. She doesn't allow herself to think beyond repelling the Reapers. That being said, fighting is an integral part of who she is. Her attitude is that if she has to go, she's not going quietly.

This is what I want too. Hopefully if the do include a "What will you do now?" dialogue choice I can pick some specifics for the Garrus romance. I just hope more then anything right now that he becomes a squadmate. Is anyone else going to be really nervous when they start releasing info for returning squadmates?

Just something I stumbled upon while browsing around for turian art. Sadly it probably have nothing to do with the BioWare turians. Still I must admit I thought this could have been something from a story our dear Buggirl had written.

It comes with a matching collar, eh? Hmm...doesn't look like those cuffs would be easy to struggle out of either. One cuff for each limb...and what's this about a Slave HUD?
OK. I'ma stop writing before this goes way beyond PG-13 and I get us modthwapped. I'll just be daydreaming now

now just to place the thread a little on topic. IF Garrus was in ME3 how do you think the gameplay would run?
I mean with the potential for characters to be killed in the suicide mission would you expect the senario on the Normandy (with whoever survived) to be something like Kaiden or Ash on horizon? so example for Horizon: Kaiden or Ash there at the same time, essentialy the same lines just slightly different dialogue per character.
because what i am seeing for the Normandy, after looking at other possibilites and rumours made by other people, is that say situation arises where Shepard has just completed a mission and is speaking to (say) either Kaiden or Ash about the situation, other character (say Garrus) comes forward, says his two cents and game continues. If Gar didn't survive the suicide mission then another character with the same view comes forward says their POV but in a slightly different way. can anybody see this as a viable option?

That sounds reasonable to me. Ideally, I'd like each character to have unique dialogue for each situation--it's sometimes a little weird hearing the same sentiment coming out of Zaeed and Tali's mouths in different playthroughs. But at least it's better than the companion devil/angel schizophrenia in ME1.

When you play Mass effect 1 and collect the remains of a battle off various planets, that insignia is located on that quest information. It's the symbol where it tells you how many artefacts from an ancient battle you have obtained. So I think it is just the turian insignia. But you're right it is really nice to think of it like an archangel
