Wonder if they can be ancestoral roots. Garrus might have grown up on Palaven, but was he born there? Or if he was, was his father or grandfather? It's like kilts or something.

I rotate the left thumbstick to the option that says "Let's release stress together." After several tribal chants and smearing my face in war paint.Giggles_Manically wrote...

Garrus says something about how Virmire reminds him of where he grew up on Palaven. I'd say it's a safebet he was at least raised there for awhile.
teh wiki sez...
Since the Unification War, turians normally wear elaborate facial
tattoos marking their colony of origin, though it is not known which
markings distinguish which colony. These tattoos are usually white —
particularly on turians with darker carapaces — but can be of various
colours. Garrus Vakarian's markings, for example,
are dark blue. As a point of interest, the turian term 'barefaced'
refers to one who is beguiling or not to be trusted. (It should be noted
that Saren Arterius and Warden Kuril do not bear any facial markings).
It is also a slang term for politicians.
Hrm... I wonder. Fewer factions... maybe it seems like the commonalities might be factions taking over smaller ones... and the markings started blending? It seems strange that Palaven would have a facial marking, since it's NOT a colony... and far from the war (at least that's the hint.)teh wiki lulz...
The turians had already discovered several mass relays and spawned
colonies throughout the galaxy when the asari
reached the Citadel. At about the time the asari were forming the Council with the salarians, the turians were embroiled in a
bitter civil war next door. The Unification War, as it was later named,
began with hostilities between the colonies furthest from the turian
homeworld, Palaven.
These colonies were run by local chieftains, many of whom had
distanced themselves from the Hierarchy. Without the galvanizing
influence of the government, the colonies became increasingly isolated
and xenophobic. Colonists began wearing emblems or facial markings to
differentiate themselves from members of other colonies and open
hostilities became common.
When war finally broke out, the Hierarchy maintained strict
diplomacy and refused to get involved. After several years of fighting,
fewer and fewer factions remained until the Hierarchy finally
intervened. By that time, the chieftains were too weak to resist; they
were forced to put an end to fighting and renew their allegiance to the
Hierarchy. Though peace was restored, it took several decades for
animosity between colonists to fade completely. To this day, most
turians still wear the facial markings of their home colonies.

Well, you know, one more conversation with Garrus would have been nice....Kim Shepard wrote...
My Shepards tend to go Renegade in Garrus' missions. It was pretty awesome that the romance started right after my MainShep helped him kill Sidonis though. xD I really thought it would be the next conversation and the whole Sidonis thing would have its own.

Yes it would have. The two returning squad mates from ME1 had the lowest amount of conversations. Mordin had the most...which is actually pretty awesome.Pacifien wrote...

Yea. He's definitely one of my favorites.kglaser wrote...
If anyone had to have the most and it's not Garrus, then Mordin is a great choice.
I know Garrus's dialogue count is well known, but when I was keeping track of conversations for everyone, there was this constant <_< as I kept the tally for Garrus at 1.Collider wrote...
