What you detect there is the fact that I know details about Saren's past in the First Contact War will be revealed in Mass Effect: Evolution, and I know that I'll have to wait nearly two months to know anything about it, and even then I'll have to read it on the forums because who knows how long it'll be before the comics are sold in stores. To answer your question about Garrus, I got the feeling he was never in a serious relationship before Shepard, and by serious I mean a relationship with real plans for the future. I'm sure he's had a few short-term relationships, and plenty "sparring". He's so focused with his job (and of course, justice!) that I doubt he's ever been able to have a long-term relationship. Most women just aren't as awesome as Shepard to go along during Garrus' adventures, whether he's being a vigilante or a C-Sec officer who was very obsessed with helping people. Actually, I think Saren would have been the same way... except instead of "helping people" it was "planning revenge" and then "planning for the Reapers".
My FemShep is the type who could easily tell Garrus that she loves him and mean it, and she couldn't care less what people think about her dating a turian. She has no trouble with thinking about a future for them. Luckily, she didn't end up like her "brother" Shep, with the mentality that everything he loves will be killed (Colonist/Sole Survivor background). As for MainShep... well, I think you know about MainShep - loves Saren, told him that to his face, and has a lifelong grudge against anyone who insults or attacks him.

The mental images are just so adorable. As for his cybernetic eyes and geth arm, the cover of Revelation shows that he has all implants and cybernetics besides the geth arm and Reaper glow before he met Sovereign. The cover of one of the Evolution comics also has a picture of Saren, but I'm pretty sure it's from the Battle of the Citadel, rather than the First Contact War. And this is why I try to change the topic before things go somewhere horrible.
