And yes, Garrus' armour is bulkier in ME2. In the first game EVERYONE'S armour was just very skin tight. Even Garrus'.

I know that in ME1, turians had no body under their clothes or armor. When I moved the camera close enough without going through them, it was just a floating head and neck - a little more neck than what we see, probably what's under their shirt collar. I doubt Garrus has any holes in him though. Now that his armor is bigger, there can be a hole clear through his armor without blowing a hole through his body, and he looks fine in his casual outfit (where it's obvious how much smaller his real collar is). Just judging by the fact that the hole in his armor is the part that would be protecting his face, I think that was caught in the missile's direct line of fire and the rest is probably burn scars.
Garrus wouldn't have to worry about my FemShep either way. She thought he was cute before, and still thinks he's cute now. The scars don't make any difference in how she sees him. She'll just make sure to be really gentle when she touches that side of his face.

My fiance bought himself Mass Effect 1 & 2 for Christmas. Since he now considers Wrex and Garrus his Shep's bros, it's like a gift for me as well.
Oh, and...OMFGPEKFNCJSAOEHF GARRUS EFFECT 2!

I'm not usually a fan of the "morality scars" that ME2 gave you--hated it in KOTOR--but the scars can look really awesome in ME2. They look awesome on Renegon MaleShep because he has enough Paragon points to not go full on Terminator, and awesome on Paragade MainShep because she has enough Renegade points to retain very thin, subtle scars.

I think Garrus still looks good with the scars. I don't think they make him more good-looking though. When I'm actually paying attention to them (which is rare, because I don't find them so noticeable that it's the first thing I look at), they just seem to be painful or at least uncomfortable. I have no idea if Saren's extensive implants were from an injury, so they just look awesome to me. They looked awesome before I ever thought about why they were there. With Garrus, we know how he got the scars. That makes the difference for me, even though my own theory about Saren's implants is basically similar to what happened with Garrus, and that also makes me think his implants will look at least a little like Saren's if/when those bandages come off.

Does anyone else notice that Garrus seems to be a lot bigger in ME2 than he was in ME1? He seems taller and thicker. Is that just his armor or has he his the gym lifting weights?

Yes he does and I wish so much that Bioware remove that "BIG TOILET" on his armor... I liked more Me1 version of him... I want to dress him again too!!!
in Me2 he looks like Quasimodo
Doesn't he?

Quasimodo approves 100%

I've got BioWare-related presents too. Trying to choose which one I should play first - KOTOR, Jade Empire, or Baldur's Gate (hoping that it works on my PC). I'm leaning towards Jade Empire because I know it has a plot twist but I said I wouldn't look it up. xD

Jade Empire! Jade Empire!
I don't necessarily think the scars make Garrus better LOOKING per se. I mean, they did seriously mangle up a third of his face and neck. But I do think they make him look dangerous and badass. Mroooooowr.
As for the huge neck collar in ME2...meh. I'm cool with how he looks in ME2. In real life, I'm actually pretty intimidated by guys who are significantly taller/bigger than I am, probably because I'm very petite and puntable, but in video games, I think it's kinda sexy.

Definitely, the scars make him look badass and dangerous. I don't really have an opinion on the collar other than it looks cool in heavy armor, and it looks cool in extremely light armor like the one Saren wears. (What is that kind of armor even called? Even light armor looks more bulky than that. Half of it looks like a bodysuit. He just thinks distracting MainShep will make it easier to win, I bet.)

Speculation is that the team wanted them to look a bit less alien due to the fact that Garrus can be romanced in ME2. They may see another redesign in ME3. Who knows?
If anything i think they look less alien in ME1. I mean sarren's butt was almost human like (yeah i looked) and now garrus has this like tube with two sticks coming out.

Haha. xD MainShep looked too. That's why she never managed to catch up with him until the final battle. Too busy checking out the view. Seriously though, Saren's body type tooks closer to a human than most turians. We don't know why he looks so different aside from the fact that they wanted him to look awesome. Mission accomplished.Sashimi_taco wrote...

Edited to add this:

Sylvia would like to play cops and robbers with Garrus. She's even letting him be the cop. But I don't think he's interested.
(Yeah this is a glitch and I've had it happen twice. I can't always replicate it but I do know how to get it to happen.)

I think about that every time I point out the similarities. xD He wouldn't like it. Good thing MainShep would never make that comparison. (She only likes Saren. He's the best, and no one can be compared to him because they don't even come close.)Brass_Buckles wrote...
It's funny, though, isn't it? Saren looks the most human of any turian, and yet, he absolutely loathes humans and would definitely not see that comparison as a compliment.
Cool screenshot. I can just imagine my Earthborn Ruthless trying to play cops and robbers with an actual (former) cop.
Shepard: I'll be the robber!
Garrus: Now, there's a surprise. *sarcasm*

Funny how you can only take cover like that around Garrus. And the reason I figured the glitch out? I was having Shepard crouch next to him to get a screenshot like she was trying to help him work on the Mako. Yeah I know, I was being silly. More so considering vanguards have no tech skill. ("So, Garrus, just in case I ever get super rich and buy my own armored exploration vehicle... Think you could teach me how to change my own tires?") I'm going a little screenshot crazy and maybe I should make a comic out of these or something--next playthrough.

"Impressive, Commander, but I'm working on this tire that you shredded on our last assignment."

And I don't see how turians look less alien in ME2. I didn't notice it at least. I did notice that Garrus' flanging effect on his voice was alot more subtle so do you think they did that to make him seem less alien and easier to romance?

The irony is that most really big guys are usually quite gentle, lol. Yes, totally off topic, so: which sniper rifle do you think Garrus prefers? I've noticed in his recruitment mission he seems to flip-flip from cutscene to cutscene between the Mantis and Viper. I tend to give him the Incisor myself.Sable Rhapsody wrote...

Of course I would prefer Garrus to be a squaddie in ME3, but I don't think it is very realistic for that to get announced some time soon... About 6 months down the line and we will start getting substantial tid bits. But I will be staying away from spoilers. It served me well last time, the archangel-Garrus revealEvelinessa wrote...
I would rather save his story for ME3 too. I can't see them making a DLC for him anyways because he could be dead(with Liara she can't be killed and with VS one of them is guarenteed to be alive). I have a feeling they will announce the next DLC after ME2 PS3 will be released.
Also, cute plushie.
