Tali has to be recruited.
Wrex & Garrus don't have to be recruited, but you must have one or the other. If you don't recruit Garrus, you must recruit Wrex and vice versa.

I can't be sure about Garrus' tattoos, but I assume they're the markings for Palaven.

Yeah, I found that out the hard way when jerkass ManShep was like, "Um, I'm not taking a kid with me." Seriously, between Tali and Liara, he feels like a babysitter. And grumbles about it all the time. He tends to get off on the wrong foot with people who are destined to become his best friends...except Wrex. Their bromance was beautiful from day 1.

lmao, now that I would love to see.
On my last playthrough I did Therum as the final mission. Oh the lols I got when speaking to Liara, poor girl.
Virmire being the reason makes sense I guess, if you haven't recruited Liara before that.
And the reason I asked about the clan markings is well...if the clan markings are for one planet, it would've been nice to see some other turians with the same markings. Palaven is the turian home world after all.

Maybe turians who were born on Palaven tend to stay on Palaven, and turians who were born in the colonies tend to go elsewhere for better opportunities? But that might be putting too much of a "human" perspective on it. I would guess that the real reason was to make Garrus look different from the others. It's the same thing with Saren. There could be a reason why he looks so different, or they just wanted him to stand out. That was the line? xD Your ManShep is hilarious, by the way.Sable Rhapsody wrote...

Yeah, I'm good with "rule of cool" for some of the alien designs. A more subtle example is Tali--her suit is different from those of pretty much all the quarians. I know she got a new one, but the helmet/headdress style is unique to her.
The line is something more like, "You're not ready for this" but I like to imagine that ManShep called her a little kid in front of Wrex, Anderson and the ambassador

He's a racist, sarcastic, womanizing, unprofessional jerkass with a highly inflated opinion of himself, but he is 100% a good dude and really cares about his crew. Renegon is WIN.
So, uh... he's Malcolm Reynolds?

I wasn't thinking of Mal specifically--I was thinking of young Kirk from the new Star Trek, with a dash of noble bigot, when I came up with Jamie. But sure! We'll go with Mal

XD Pretty much. Garrus is his wingman, Zaeed is his idol, Grunt is his protege, and Legion is his sober brother. Robot. Whatever.
I wish there had been more bromance dialogue with Garrus.
Garrus: Can it wait for a bit? I'm in the middle of some calib--
ManShep: *drunkenly grabs Garrus by the scruff of the collar* OK. OK. I'm your commander. I'ma tell you this once--less calibrations, more BOOZE. You'll meet me n' Zaeed in the shuttle bay in fifteen.

Sadly, texmod makes my game lag (fps drops from around 80 to 35) and I have yet to find a fix for it. So for now I'm stuck with low-res Garrus

Actually I can tolerate Blurry-Garrus. In a way I think it makes his face look smoother, thus younger, so that when you see him again in ME2 not only is there a huge leap in graphical improvement, but he looks older.
But then again... It is nice not to see Garrus as if I were twenty feet away and without my glasses. I used Texmod for this. But I understand it tends to drop framerates at certain points/locations in-game, and it doesn't even offer a permanent fix.
Is it just me or does Garrus look angry?

Given the popularity of Garrus and Tali in the fan community (very few people dislike either, especially Garrus) both as plain old squadmates and as romantic interests for Shepard, and given the fact that most people try to save the characters they like, I fully expect that they will return in ME3.
And haven't I read something from the devs regarding alternate dialogue based on whether this or that squadmate survives in ME3? Something about alternate squaddies? I dunno. But I do believe that we'll get to keep our squadmates. If they really pull out all of the stops for ME3, then even though we may not get an epic reunion as the characters rejoin our squads, we'll still get a very awesome story. And I think this may be especially true for those who romanced one of the aliens who've been with us since ME1. Why? Because especially the Garrus romance is very popular, and because (as someone here recently noted) you evidently couldn't even romance him if you didn't recruit him in ME1. Some kind of progression is being acknowledged here already. (And, after learning that, I'm scoffing at Garrus's, "I'd never even considered interspecies intercourse before." Sure, Garrus. I believe you. Right. But only if I didn't recruit you in ME1.)
Maybe I'm just being senselessly positive, but Bioware is one dev group that pays attention to the playerbase. No, they can't and won't give us everything that we want. But if something is particularly popular (Garrus or Tali romance for instance), we do often get it.
Here's hoping they realize we don't want to be left out. Although I'm sure they already know we want more dialogue. In fact, we want MOAR in general. Yes?

Incisor/rapid fire gets flashy pew pew.

Mantis gets a little poof.

Down, boy.

Snipers gonna snipe, clippings gonna clip.
About Garrus returning for ME3, he's so popular amongst all sorts of players that I don't really see why he wouldn't. It's the economical choice

I wouldn't be surprised if it was part of his character arc.Shadedclan wrote...
What do you guys think about Garrus being a leader? I would really want to see that develop in ME3.
If you notice, all of the squad mates from ME1 are climbing up the ranks. Garrus did so in ME2 - in becoming more of a "buddy" to Shepard (and leading his own squad) rather than "student" (or whatever other term could be better used to describe ME1).
