I see Garrus as the kind of guy who would let Shepard decide who she wants, rather than fight for her, because he wouldn't want to get in the way of her happiness if she likes the other person more. Then he would be completely shocked and happy when she chose him.

Hmm.  I do agree, but I think letting Shep decide for herself is a little different from him just backing down.  I'm sure Kaidan or Liara might have a few words for him--depending on what they say, I can't necessarily see him just taking it in silence.

I don't think Garrus is the kind to stake a claim or anything.  He'd want Shepard to be happy more than anything else.  But he wasn't too thrilled either on Horizon, and I CAN see him mentioning it if the issue of loyalty comes up.

I'm sure if they said anything against Shepard, Garrus would speak up. I doubt he would let any insults about himself go by without a sarcastic remark or something like that either. The situation I was thinking of is more like the one Shepard gets if she romances two people in ME1 and then has to choose with both of them there. Of course he would let Shepard know that he still wants to be with her, but if she chooses the other person, he doesn't seem like the type to object or question her judgement, at least to me. I hope Horizon does get brought up though, whether Shepard has a relationship with the VS, anyone else, or not.

Ah, ok, now I gotcha.

I too want Horizon resolved.  I happen to think Ash and Kaidan's reactions on Horizon were understandable, if not exactly shining examples of their best behavior.  I'd actually really like to see if Tali has a take on it.  I know she does have dialogue for Horizon before BioWare locked the order in which you could recruit people.  Tali always interested me more since she has so many hang-ups over Cerberus.

She gives Jacob the withering look of doom, clearly dislikes Miranda, and I shudder to imagine what she thinks of EDI.  Cerberus infiltrated the Fleet and almost destroyed one of their ships.  And yet despite all that, she STILL comes along to follow Shep.  Now that's dedication.

Not so sure about Liara--that's a different situation, and it can be (kind of ) resolved one way or the other in LoTSB with no input from Garrus.  At any rate, I hope they handle the issue of the ME1 and ME2 LIs in a manner that makes sense for each LI, not just generic dialogue that gets retweaked for each combination.

But what about the Shep's who romance Liara in ME1, cheat on her with Garrus in ME2, but then in LotSB rekindles the romance. Because I heard that you can still invite the ME2 LI up to the Cabin(If that's true then I wonder how that's going to work in ME3).

Yeah, I don't want Garrus to say some dialogue that wouldn't be in character for him but would be with other LI's. I want unique dialogue.

I agree with this. I actual never saw that scene before but I just watched it. I guess it could go along something like that.

Many of my Shepards are frustrated by Horizon, and have the same opinion as Garrus there - "you're so focused on Cerberus that you're ignoring the real threat." Looking at it that way, Tali definitely has more reason to hate Cerberus, but comes along anyway because she trusts Shepard and she's more concerned with the real threat than with Cerberus. Garrus is the same way, except he doesn't seem to have anything against Cerberus aside from being a little nervous about their intentions (and him worrying about Shepard is adorable).

I'm not sure about Tali's lines on Horizon, but I'm pretty sure Kaidan and Ashley say "Tali too?" when they find out Shepard is working with Cerberus, the same as they do for Garrus.

 Here's Tali's Horizon dialogue:

The bit where she calls out Kaidan is the last line.  She sounds less pissed than Garrus did when I brought him along, but she still does speak up.

Awesome. My current MaleShep is already jealous (he's the one who will romance Tali). At least he gets to have Garrus come to Horizon with him.

But don't forget that when Tali first sees you on Freedom's Progress, she's less rainbows and sunshine about you working with Cerberus, and she flat out tells you she can't come with you... She doesn't agree to come aboard until after Haestrom where Shepard blasts his way through a few dozen geth to get her out of a little scrape. And Garrus is also not in a position to be slapping a friendly face. He'd just had his entire squad murdered under his nose and all the mercs on Omega about to wash over him like a wave... Either of them, if they just ran into you where one of their own colonies had just gone missing might have to ask some hard questions.

I was really put off by the VS response, but I can understand it... Can't say I'd be quick to be ready to embrace a friend who was supposed to be dead and shows up in the uniform (and company) of the enemy... But I put good money on Ash or Kaiden doing a little boot kissing after they settle down and look into Shepard's activities since his return.

Doesn't make me any less happy to have Garrus or Tali come along. Shoot I wanted all the old crew back. Two out of five is better than nothing...

Garrus definitely would have gone with Shepard no matter the circumstances, even if she just showed up on the Citadel and ran into him before he left for Omega. And technically, Tali could have just as easily gone back to the quarians with Kal'Reegar, but instead she followed Shepard. The only squadmates Shepard recruited who didn't have much choice were Grunt and Legion, because they were already in the Normandy by the time they woke up.

Honestly, before ME2, I only cared if Garrus was coming back, even though I would have liked to see Wrex come back too. They were the squadmates I brought everywhere. I didn't have much of an opinion on Tali and Kaidan (but it was still a positive one), and I never liked Ashley or Liara. I was glad to have Garrus back, happy with Wrex's cameo, and liked Tali much more in ME2. I'd like an option not to have the other three back... I'd recruit them in later playthroughs, but not the main ones.

Wrex!

Hah, imagine the scene that would play out if Garrus never left for Omega and was a Spectre.

Actually, I read a ff yesterday that had Garrus as a Spectre who were spying on Shepard for the Council and that the whole Omega thing was just a ploy. It was..interesting.

I've actually heard that theory before, but that's not one I'd believe. It would be nice if Garrus could become a Spectre at the end of ME3 though. That must be the perfect job for him.

If everything gets sorted out by the end of ME3, maybe.  But I can't exactly see Garrus wanting to work with the current Council.  I don't think he's too thrilled with them for sidelining Shep and discrediting his/her name

But I agree that if Garrus learns to cultivate his own talents and get over some of his more impulsive tendencies, he would make a magnificent Spectre.  Something I've always admired in Garrus is his incredible capacity for empathy, even for complete strangers.  He didn't know anyone on Omega when he turned up.  What happened on Omega never hurt him personally while he was on the Citadel.  Yet he packed up and went to the galaxy's hellhole to try and protect people from the gangs.  That, I think, would serve him well as a Spectre and keep him grounded.

That's true. I was thinking more about the job, and not who he would be working for. xD My FemShep who romanced him did keep her Spectre status, but only because it's a good thing to have. I'm not sure if she'd want to work for the Council again either. Then again, Saren was working for the Council even though he had a grudge against them... and probably started working for them after he already had the grudge too. It would depend on if Garrus thinks the cause is good enough to work for people he doesn't like, and judging by his response to C-Sec, that would be hard for him.

It would be kind of cool if Garrus already is a spectre sent by the Council to spy on Cerberus and support Shepard. It may even make quite a good story.

Why hello Garrus thread, nice to meet you! I think we're going to be *great* friends.

Now to get a signature banner that is small enough that it will allow me to keep a smaller Varric banner as well and we'll be ready to go.

Thanks! I haven't read all 700+ pages of the thread (it's a bit intimidating, actually) but I can't wait to be a part of the fun. I think I have a general love and appreciation for all turians, actually. There's just.. something about them that makes them so awesome.

OK, that's just too funny. So... would Garrus find it as funny as we are? (See, look... on topic!)

ETA:  I love today's entry.  "The show must go off."

Aaw Garrus. You are so smoooooth!

Such a contrast to a love triangle clip I watched with Jacob. He goes all angry and insulting to Garrus. Then Garrus is just like, 'I don't want a love triangle jeopardising the mission.'

And that looking around, and then closing the door got me all excited too when I first played it, hehe.

I like that scene where Garrus looks around and closes the door too. He doesn't want anyone to know what he's talking about. xD That would be awkward.

Well, it kind of is the only way to get privacy on the Normandy. And if you've got Kasumi, even that's no guarantee. She could be standing right beside you cloaked, listening to every little thing you say. And inwardly giggling girlishly at you.

Poor Garrus. No privacy to be had. None at all.
