 I know we're all used to it now but I was just thinking today how awesome it is that Garrus is actually romancable, mainly because he easily could NOT have been. Bioware took a chance and it worked , much better then they expected I think. I'm one of those people who likes unlikely couples in shows and movies so Bioware giving us players the option for Garrus and Shepard to be together was the best thing ever. Do you guys ever think back to the time pre-ME2 where fangirls (and guys) were made fun of for entertaining the idea that Garrus should be a romance?

So.. I was sort of thinking about the upcoming DLC(s) and the prospect of having to gather the alien races together for ME3. We've seen the Migrant fleet already and have seen a good deal of the asaris and krogan. Even a bit of the salarian's STG unit on Virmire. But we haven't seen Palaven yet or anything really focused on the turians. Do you think we'll get to visit Palaven or some turian colonies in ME3?



It could be interesting, especially since Garrus has a family and there's all that business with his mother (from the LotSB dossiers). I wonder what they'd think of Shepard?

Garrus's dad might hate Shep on princible, judging from the conversation about him in ME1.

Sister/Mother is a toss-up for me. Probably depends on whether they like Garrus becoming batman. Hard to tell, especially since Garrus's sister was ticked at him for leaving but still wanted him back home.

I don't think his sister knows the full extent of what he's been up to for the last two years or so. She won't know that Garrus was responsible for getting treatment for their mother (he did it anonymously). Maybe he'll have to tell her?

And yeah, there would definitely be some tension for the father. For one, if he sees Shepard as a commander and Garrus as her squad-mate then he'll certainly be "anti-fraternisation", nevermind his feelings of the inter-species thing. He is old enough to have been alive during the First Contact War so there may be some racism tendencies there even though he would have served on the Citadel and not in the war. Plus there would be tension between Garrus and his father anyway, regardless of his relationship status with Shepard.

I think the mother would be the most likely to be accepting of Garrus' decisions and would just be happy that he has settled down a bit and has found some sort of purpose in his life.

It could certainly be an interesting experience for an Earth-born Shepard that didn't grow up with a family of her own.

I'm hoping we'll see Palaven but what worries me is that because turians are a council race they could just end up skipping Palaven. I think this because we might only need to get the council on our side and we will automatically gain the help of the turians, asari, and salarians.

Garrus' dad won't like Shepard from what we know about him and I'm not sure what his mother and sister would think. If we do meet them(hopefully on a sidequest where we cure his mother)it would be such a missed opportunity if they don't mention the romance.

I always felt like a freak on the old boards, lol.

Either I'm completely wrong, or the Garrusmancers are all abnormal and twisted.  Either works for me.

Lol, I remember the old boards and the debates and stressing and pining and hoping and "omg, it won't happen but I hope it does" thing going on.  And yeah, there were haters there who said it would never happen.  A number of those vocal haters are still around, but not much they can say about Garrus' chances now (though some try). 

It seemed as if Garrus was off the table as soon as it was revealed that Thane was an option (and was purposefully designed to be) and Jacob was a shoe-in.  Many of us figured Samara would be the last option to coincide with the "trinity" romance selection going and thus Garrus would be out (as Thane, it was figured, would take up the "malien slot").

The sheer joy that erupted when we found out, through breaking into and sniffing around the leaked game files pre-release, that Garrus wasn't just a squadmate but a romance option...it was fantastic.  That time made for one of the best "forum memories" for me...we were all in it together. ^^

 Quite honestly when I heard that in the first 10 minutes of Mass Effect shepard and most of his crew gets killed I was like "Garrus and Wrex noooooooo!!!" And then I heard this "Archangel" name pop up and I immediately thought it was Thane. Then I saw that he was a turian, and then when Garrus revealed himself I wanted to run inside the T.V screen and glomp him by surprise. 

I almost broke the T.V.

Still, the point is that we can haz a Garrus.  And what a wonderful Garrus it is.  I do find it funny that I adore Garrus to little bits and that Thane, the character who was specifically designed as an alien LI, does not do it for me.  I like the character and find him fascination, but romancing him is an exercise in futility for me.

See, I was spoiled like just about everyone else and knew Garrus was Archangel.  I kinda wish I hadn't been so spoiled, but spoilers are like crack to me, so weaning myself off them will be next to impossible.  Might be able to steer clear of major plot spoilers for ME3 though.

Must have missed that.  Of course my sound files in ME1 are also corrupted somehow, even though I ran a Steam check on the game files, so I've missed whole conversations.

I really, really wish it were that easy to nab a rl Garrus. ;o;

I vote we go to the one with turians.  I don't even care if they want to enslave us...I'd probably go happily.

Heehee, don't know about the "glorious leader" part.  I think it was more that I was one of the louder drooling, raving Garrus loonies. XD


I'm not sure that I'll be able to resist ME3 spoilers.  Yeah, maybe there might have been more fun waiting until ME2 was in my hands and I discovered Garrus...but there's something to be said for the fun of devouring every released morsel and tid-bit of info dropped by BW and running wild with an emotional rollercoaster and various theories of what will or will not happen.  I don't think I could give that up.

Haha, since I am a newb I knew who all the ME LI were before I even played. I didn't know anything about the characters though, so I started out with the intent to romance Jacob (lulz) because I found him the most attractive. Then I actually played and... yeah, the rest is history. I kinda wish I was around in the earlier days, but then again I didn't have to do the whole speculation deal or live through Garrus *not* being an LI xD

I was one of those that didn't know who Archangel was at first and I nearly fell out of my chair once Shepard realised it was Garrus and opened her arms to give him a big hug. Was a very awesome moment. And then I was slightly sad at the direction Garrus' life had gone in without Shepard for two years and then I was excited because I realised I could finally romance him and make everything alll better.
